Would be such a shame not to continue the discussion.

Personal attacks.., hmm I think that is done very well by some.

The end of that last thread which prompted this one was typically how it goes with rounding on one poster

This one was set up with a vote though. So even if the posts are skewed the vote is different

EasternStandard · 26/10/2023 14:28

On the proposed new hate crime I guess Labour will have to clarify what it includes, beyond males as females for the first time. Which they have stated

I don’t want to know. You’re the one who wants me to believe you. I bet your tutorials were a hoot - “references, what references? Go and Google it.”

You can be interested but I’m not googling for people who don’t want to know it anyway as pp stated

As you can see @EasternStandard that’s a travesty of the conversation. There’s no point in engaging in debate if you refuse to evidence your assertions and twist other posters’ words.

No travesty here. Just no wasted time.

I’m sure you’re capable of googling.

Passepartoute · 26/10/2023 14:24

No, Labour isn't proposing that. The Mail made that up. Hence the use of the term "speculative".

Edited

I often wonder what makes Tory supporters so susceptible to the lies they're told. Is it Denial? Do they not see the damage done? Do they really believe the bullshit they're fed by their party? Or are they happy to spread those lies because for them the party is more important than the country?

Obviously I am because I back my assertions with evidence. I don’t expect other posters to take my word for what I say or to do my work for me.

DuncinToffee · 26/10/2023 14:35

If I were a Tory voter, I would also prefer the MN poll over the National polls

EasternStandard · 26/10/2023 14:36

If I were a Labour poster I’d prefer hounding people off threads too

It’s a decent go over many.

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/10/2023 14:36

I'm not a Labour poster, supporter or voter.

EasternStandard · 26/10/2023 14:39

Part of the mix it all helps don’t worry

Passepartoute · 26/10/2023 14:39

BIossomtoes · 26/10/2023 11:46

Do you really think that? I wonder if it’s because they really can’t find candidates of the right calibre now. Why would anyone half decent want to be associated with a political party that welcomes the likes of Anderson, Gullis, Jenkyns et al? A party that doesn’t kick out someone bailed on rape charges? I genuinely don’t think they’ve got any choice any more, willingness to stand is enough now.

See also that idiot Cooper in Tamworth. You would think that, for a by-election in what appeared to be a pretty safe Tory seat, they would have had their pick of high quality candidates. You would also think, given current circumstances, that they would have been desperate to put up a high quality candidate to maximise their chances of retaining the seat. But no, apparently the best they could do was effectively another Anderson/Gullis clone. That really is desperate.

Also I do think people need to read up and as you discounted FWR earlier I can see the Labour dominated threads are more your thing.

Fine up to you. I’m not going to relay every FWR post to you. I find posters on there very clued up. You don’t. I won’t bother convincing you otherwise.

Btw it’s not unfounded. It’s is what was said by Dodds. Labour will make the process easier.

I read FWR all the time and used to post there a lot. Unfortunately it's become dominated by a few posters who are aggressive and bullying to anyone who questions the GC group think in even a minor way. I can't be bothered to engage to be called a TRA/a CCHQ plant/a Labour politician/ignorant/stupid for stating some very minor points.

I note even some of the stalwarts like Datun are posting less and less.

Since MNHQ started hiving all the posts about trans and gender issues to that board (and with the demise of Reddit Gender Critical), FWR has become less about feminism and more about gender conservative beliefs, which is a real shame as it used to be one of the few places for proper feminist debate and I learnt a lot. In fact it's thanks to FWR I even registered for MN.

When it goes back to a board for genuine debate I'll post more but in the meantime I'll stick to lurking on the more interesting threads.

BIossomtoes · 26/10/2023 14:45

I think they went for local candidates in both Tamworth and Mid Beds. It still begs the question of whether Cooper was the best they could find. Christ only knows what the rest of them are like if he was.

Yes I know you’re not keen. Up to you.

Obviously I’m not going to convince you otherwise but nor am I going to relay information from it. If you are interested it’s there first hand.

I appreciate it in a sea of political threads such as this and others which really are the same names with typical posting hounding any non Labour posts

Usually one or two who bother to post not agreeing

DuncinToffee · 26/10/2023 14:51

Is asking for statements to be backed up now considered 'hounding'?

EasternStandard · 26/10/2023 14:52

Google is there. I know people have the ability…

EasternStandard · 26/10/2023 14:53

But yes I looked at the end of the last thread and it’s the same names every time

All going at one poster who has a different view

These threads are a dime a dozen

AdamRyan · 26/10/2023 14:53

EasternStandard · 26/10/2023 14:28

On the proposed new hate crime I guess Labour will have to clarify what it includes, beyond males as females for the first time. Which they have stated

They aren't proposing a new hate crime. That daily mail article reported Doss as saying "'The Conservatives are failing to protect LGBT+ people with their inability to get a handle on hate crime, including violent hate crime. Labour will strengthen the law to ensure the perpetrators of anti-LGBT+ hate can no longer dodge longer sentences. And our fully funded plan to recruit 13,000 more neighbourhood police and community support officers would increase safety for everyone.'"

Labour are proposing better enforcement of the existing hate crime law.

https://www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/homophobic-biphobic-and-transphobic-hate-crime-prosecution-guidance

The Conservatives could update the law to make it clear misgendering isn't a crime. They could provide clearer prosecution guidance.

Instead they are having a pop in the Daily Mail about Labour plans to use existing laws as intended.

I find this such a weird strategt for a party that previously prided themselves as being the party for law and order, and campaigned on enforcing the law more rigorously than the competition.

Thanks @DuncinToffee I vastly prefer reading things over watching a video.

EasternStandard · 26/10/2023 14:59

Here from Labour. They’ll need to clarify

Gender to be included for first time

Not just women but men

To be fair to that poster, she actually provides links rather than telling people to 'google it'

🤷‍♂️ not my issue

Google is easy. You have to want to know though, as stated they didn’t.

OK, well as a feminist I think it will be brilliant if the police start recording hate crimes against women, and using it as an aggravating factor in crimes.

That will help in enforcing domestic violence, sexual assaults, GBH etc and applying appropriate punishments.

I cannot see why any feminist would argue against that statement in principle.

I hate “New Conservatives” with a passion. But I haven’t heard anything from any other party to make me think voting for them is a better solution. Especially where Women’s Rights are concerned. I may just not bother voting. Which would be a first for me. I always vote.

I know this isn't really the best basis for a vote, but surely it's worth voting to keep out a party which has demonstrated that it has every intention of reducing women's rights?
