AIBU to think this is grim?

DH gets a Graze box in the post every month (random collection of snacks in box which fits through the letterbox).

There's no obvious home for it in the kitchen cupboards so he puts it on top of a stack of dinner plates.

I think this is grim because it's been through the postal system, handled at the sorting office, handled by the postman and lands of our floor just inside the door right where everyone treads in their shoes when they come into the house.

He sees no issue in then putting food onto the plate the box has been on. I disagree. AIBU?

Those who think this is grim, do you wash your shopping?
Do you wash your hands when you have picked up (say) a box of rice as part of the dinner-making process?
Do you wash things like oranges which may be all germy?
Do you never put post down on the kitchen table - or do you ash hands after opening a Christmas card?

I couldn't begin to be worried about this. I am so glad of that fact.

mysocksarehaunted · 23/10/2023 20:32

It would bother me quite a lot. And it would bother me a lot more if it didn't get rehomed after I had expressed my disapproval. But I am a certified neurotic 😁

FunCatSunPat · 23/10/2023 20:38

Tell me you don't have toddlers in the house without telling me you don't have toddlers in the house.
I cannot fathom a life where a box placed on a plate is the source of my primary germ-ingestion worry 😅

ReadingSoManyThreads · 23/10/2023 20:39

YANBU

You and I are cut from the same cloth.

So unhygienic 😑

daisychain01 · 23/10/2023 20:41

I'd be more concerned about the shite processed food he's eating month after month than a bit of dirt on the outside of the box.

spitefulandbadgrammar · 23/10/2023 20:43

It would annoy me it’s in the way of getting plates, and he hasn’t found a suitable storage space in the kitchen. Germs wouldn’t even cross my mind.

That aside I’m amazed Graze still exists, it’s such a rip off.

chaosmaker · 23/10/2023 20:44

@HJ40 Just appreciate that if there are any germs that survive your stomach acid then they'll be strengthening your immune system *probably

daisychain01 · 23/10/2023 20:44

I've just looked at their website @spitefulandbadgrammar omg what a rip off!

herbetta · 23/10/2023 20:46

pictoosh · 23/10/2023 18:58

Ohh that made me laugh.

Me too 😊

coveredindoghairs · 23/10/2023 20:46

YANBU. That would disgust me. I doubt anything would actually happen as a result, but knowing about it would make me lose my appetite. The oily grime I've found on some of the parcels I've received over the years is enough to turn your stomach.

spitefulandbadgrammar · 23/10/2023 20:48

@daisychain01 And so many tiny plastic trays to recycle! (Or worse, be turned into craft activities by children.) Just buy a giant bag of Bombay Mix at the newsagent for half the price, surely?

mysocksarehaunted · 23/10/2023 20:49

This is one time I am definitely not going to rtft as I suspect it might be triggering. I definitely don't want to be up till dawn wiping oranges or similar 😬
I stand with you OP! 🙂

ButterMyParsnip · 23/10/2023 20:49

It wouldn't bother me but I have an iron stomach (probably from not being bothered by things like this 🤣)

Latenightreader · 23/10/2023 20:54

Just take the four plastic trays from the cardboard box and they’ll stack in a tiny gap. Or eat them all over the course of a day, which is what I used to do in the dim and distant past when I subscribed…

NooNooHead1981 · 23/10/2023 21:07

Good God, I hope you are having an evening disinfecting each other in preparation for your sterile love making session later on, OP. I mean, it's awful to imagine all the bacteria and germs on a human body and what could happen if you ingested any of those... 🤪😬🤮

I'm sure you will be fine. Just get out the bleach and make sure you dip your plates in them after you get them ready for dinner. You can always re-use the bleach again just in case of any extra germs you might consume from the food you have been eating 😉

JANEY205 · 23/10/2023 21:08

I would find this really gross. I wouldn’t eat off a plate a parcel had been on. OP is saying the lazy OAF puts the entire package on the plate, not the snacks inside it. I would also be thinking about all our shoes crossing the threshold the parcel has been in OP! Yuck.

JANEY205 · 23/10/2023 21:09

I also think there’s some real arses on here! I’d be alarmed to eat at their homes too if they can’t see why this is gross.

ohdamnitjanet · 23/10/2023 21:09

FreebieWallopFridge · 23/10/2023 19:44

If anyone needs me I’ll be at the sorting office licking the special deliveries

Now that has really made me laugh

SiblingFights · 23/10/2023 21:10

Well DP is a postie and says everything in the depot / vans / bags etc are absolutely filthy, so, yes, I would be very bothered by a box that had been through the post being put on a plate that I was about to eat off.

sprigatito · 23/10/2023 18:56

Christ on a bike 🙄 why not just have yourself laminated? That way nothing can get in.

Haha! I say that too (about getting laminated).

OP, you are being precious. You have a kitchen, not an operating theatre.

Cannot stop laughing at this.

KickingEAP · 23/10/2023 21:13

Wowsers. I really wouldn't give it a second thought.

Moveoverdarlin · 23/10/2023 21:20

I couldn’t give a toss about this. Grim? Come on, it’s not grim is it?

Fuckitydoodah · 23/10/2023 21:23

How on earth has this thread made it into trending threads. I thought it was going to be something much more interesting. Duller than an afternoon at the inlaws.

YABU by the way.

Dibbydoos · 23/10/2023 21:30

Open the box, put the snacks in a bowl. Consider the bowl used and pop it in the wash when it's empty.

It's simple.

I like graze boxes - they didn't last long in our house when the kids got them!
