Many books would you read in a month?

OP posts:
Popadomorbread · 22/10/2023 23:14

I read on average two/three books a week. My DP around one a month. Really interested too see the replies to this.

Laffydaffy · 22/10/2023 23:16

Ooh, too many. I get a lot of free e-books, though, plus I skim-read, and DH reckons it isn't proper reading. Some weeks I average two a day and others a few a week.

Pumpkinpuddin · 22/10/2023 23:16

One, if that!

I love to read but find myself getting sucked into mindlessly doom-scrolling on my phone, and reading feels like an effort! It needs to be a really good story for me to stay hooked.

I seem to take long breaks between books, but when I find a book I love, I rattle through it.

Right now, I'm reading the Copenhagen Trilogy. Recommend it!

HollaHolla · 22/10/2023 23:18

Depends on the length of the book, but 2-4 a month when working; can easily do 6-9 in a week’s holiday.
I always have about 3 on the go, as like a light book at bedtime, a learning book, and something more literary, depending on mood.

TeenLifeMum · 22/10/2023 23:18

One every three months ish? I love reading but work full time, am doing a part time post grad masters and have 3dc. Following my masters it’ll likely go up.

Maireas · 22/10/2023 23:20

About 2 a week usually, although Ulysses took me weeks!

Boomboom22 · 22/10/2023 23:22

3 a week if in a low pressure job, not new subject etc. None if on mn all the time! Life gets in the way, I can pick up mn and drop v easily but a book I'm lost so no dinner, pe kit etc.

Welshwabbit · 22/10/2023 23:24

5-6 per month on average.

LuckOfTheDrawer · 22/10/2023 23:25

About one a week.

Universalsnail · 22/10/2023 23:26

It varies from about 4-5 books a month to one book a month depending on how interested in reading I am. I basically have a few months of reading being my fave thing and then a few months of cosy gaming then a few months of reading 😂

DahliaMacNamara · 22/10/2023 23:28

About 5 or 6 'main' books, plus 3 others which I only get to read a few pages at a time. Not as many as I used to because of pissing about on the internet.

AngryGreasedSantaCatcus · 22/10/2023 23:34

I've "officially " read 53 books so far this year. I say officially, because kindle doesn't count the books you've already read. Otherwise it would be more like 70.

I average about 100 yearly.

rockinginarockingchair · 22/10/2023 23:39

I can read 2-3 books a month .
I have a mate that said she reads about 5 a month i said listening to audio books is not reading its called listening.

And before anyone comes at me i understand that audio books are brilliant for anyone that struggles to read.
Im just saying listening and reading is to different things.
Above mate does not struggle with reading.

Terfosaurus · 22/10/2023 23:40

An average of 5-6. per month according to Goodreads. Which isn't as many as I'd like.

Zonder · 22/10/2023 23:44

One a week. More when I'm on holiday.

hisnameisfreckles · 22/10/2023 23:51

Just checked, last year I read 115 on kindle znd I am unsure how many actual books. And so far this year I have read 82 .. so at least 2 a week

eandz13 · 22/10/2023 23:52

One a week, maybe 2. I only really get the chance to read for half hour or so at bed time.

Cryingbutstilltrying · 23/10/2023 00:01

An average month, probably 6. Can be up to 10, depending on length of book and how good I’m finding it. Last year I read 63, according to Goodreads where I log them all. I’ve already read more than that this year. I try to find 30 minutes a day and it often ends up being more. Sitting waiting for kids at clubs is my main reading time, and when it’s dark and cold I am less likely to go for a walk instead. I am very picky about books though, if I’m not into it by page 50 it gets ditched (and not counted in the total).

Mothership4two · 23/10/2023 00:41

2-3 minimum. 2 bookclub ones and a personal one.

purpleme12 · 23/10/2023 00:50

Well so far since the start of the year I've read 14 books...

ALongHardWinter · 23/10/2023 03:11

Probably around 2 a week. On average,I take about 3 days to read a book, but have been known to get through a whole one in a day if it's really good.

Natsku · 23/10/2023 05:38

5-6 books a month, depending on length, reading about an hour each evening before bed.

WiddlinDiddlin · 23/10/2023 05:40

4 to 6 books a month, it depends how tired I am as I mainly read in bed and if I am shattered I'll fall asleep reading after just a few pages. If I am not that tired though, I read pretty fast and can get through a lot of book!

BorisIsACuntWaffle · 23/10/2023 05:43

If on holiday 10 per week.
At home with work etc one per week

Sausagerollz · 23/10/2023 05:43

About a quarter of a book per month. Life gets in the way nowadays.
I read the news a couple of times a week on my phone.
I read to my kids.
