Many books would you read in a month?

OP posts:
Tilllly · 23/10/2023 05:48

Average about 1 a week

mondaytosunday · 23/10/2023 06:02

A couple as I only read at night before bed.

PepsiMaxandPringleStacks · 23/10/2023 06:04

I try to read at least one a week, sometimes I read more sometimes I read less, I set my goodreads target for 52 a year but the past few years I've read around 60.

Throughthemiddleandroundthecorner · 23/10/2023 06:10

I haven’t read any this year. Only children’s books.
Running a small business and being a single mum takes up most of my time. I do adore my life and don’t wish it to change. But a little bit of free time would be nice.

TiredMamOfTwo · 23/10/2023 06:28

Around twenty a month sometimes more sometimes a little less just depends.

WeWereInParis · 23/10/2023 06:39

About one a week, depending on how long they are.

DH loves reading, he reads about 3 a week.

Countrydiary · 23/10/2023 07:03

About one a week, although in practice I go through slumps when nothing gets finished then I whizz through several in a week. Also probably listen to another 15 or so audiobooks in a year? Plus the books I read to DC or we listen to on family car journeys.

ChessieFL · 23/10/2023 07:18

25-30. I read a lot!

ScaryHellscape · 23/10/2023 07:21

Go through phases

Just read 2 in 5 days (inc one 1000 pager), and will likely start on third this week

But then I might not pick up another book for a few months

Lochness1975 · 23/10/2023 07:22

2-4 a week so, approx 8-16/18 a month

RhinestoneCowgirl · 23/10/2023 07:23

It fluctuates depending on how busy I am. I'm in two book groups, so that's two a month, then usually a non-fiction one plus another novel or two for escapism.

On holiday I spend any spare time not on outings/meals reading.

Khvdrt · 23/10/2023 07:23

2-3 a month but before kids 2 a week easily

Isthiscorrect · 23/10/2023 07:26

2 or 3 a week. Yesterday I read a book in a day. I'd love more time to read but too much doom scrolling.

breathequietly · 23/10/2023 07:29

One a month maybe. Two at a push.

Papillon23 · 23/10/2023 07:30

I've read 82 books since 1st Jan, so an average of 8 a month.

I'm not fussy about what I read though - that's about 1/3 new books, 1/6 rereads of complex books or non fiction and 1/2 rereads of cosy mysteries/other not especially complex fiction.

I used to judge myself for reading mediocre books but once I decided not to I started reading more of everything.

ATrulyMagnificentBroom · 23/10/2023 07:30

Before being a mum, six or seven a month. Since, two or three. DD is only one though so I'm banking on it picking up as she gets older and I can hopefully claw some time back.

Bookwormmumuk · 23/10/2023 07:32

It depends on how busy I am and also if I'm reading physically or using an audiobook. If just physically then maybe 1-2 a week if I'm using audio I can do 3-4 a week.

RaininSummer · 23/10/2023 07:32

One a week if on Kindle. Takes about 3 months if a book as too tricky to read when eating breakfast or at work.

DilemmaDelilah · 23/10/2023 07:32

About 6 real books plus maybe 4 trashy ones on kindle.

2023shady · 23/10/2023 07:35

Depends if I'm on a reading kick or not!
Average 1 a day but I'm a speed reader

CheapHouse · 23/10/2023 07:38

I always have one theory book relevant to my work and one fiction book on the go. But I'm a slow reader and get bored. So probs 2 books a month.

I use borrow box for fiction now which is great. I read on my kindle for the dyslexia font

AuntieMarys · 23/10/2023 07:39

I aim for 75 a year...currently on 60th so may exceed that.

BMrs · 23/10/2023 07:41

About 3 a month. I normally have three on the go at once; one at home, an audio book for when I'm in the car and doing jobs in the house and another at our caravan.

Scirocco · 23/10/2023 07:49

Pre-DC I would read loads, but now I just don't have enough time to read much, so maybe 1 book a month for enjoyment. Most of my reading is work-related so I'm not counting that.

DC and I read a lot of books together but they're children's books and often read multiple times. Yesterday, for example, we read the same book 5 times. As well as about 5 others.

Cablescablescables · 23/10/2023 07:52

Since my toddler has amped up their energy levels, probably 2-3 month. I read before I fall asleep, and that window is getting smaller and smaller the sleepier I am!! If we're including audiobooks, then probs 5/6 a month, I listen to them all the time. One AirPod in whilst playing with my toddler or pottering around with them is a sanity saver.
