I want no arguments. Just a nice debate. Let off some steam. Basically lighthearted.

Tell me things that annoy you. I'll go first. When you state in a post what you are going to do. And say what you're not going to do. You still get comments to just do it. I stated that I will not be adding formula this time. Will be pumping so dad can help but still feeding from the boob. But some posters still mention formula...

Also like to add I respect all mamas on what you do. You feed your babas how you want to, that you've all done an amazing job. And should be proud. And to never feel guilty. I'm really not an arsehole like some on here like to make me out to be. I'm just a mama doing her best. And very hormonal atm and in a lot of pain with my PGP.

Just had to get that out 😊

Seeing as you posted in AIBU... YABU for constantly using the word "mamas" 🤮

and YABU for starting a thread on a topic you know will end in a heated debate with people on both sides getting hurt by nasty comments based on the other thread on the same topic that you engaged with today!

AnneLovesGilbert · 22/10/2023 22:19

Nothing lighthearted about this discussion/debate as you know!

Flamingogirl08 · 22/10/2023 22:20

Oh just noticed the other thread as well. Jesus 🤣

Jericha · 22/10/2023 22:31

So you're also slipknot89. What's the betting you're also Emma89 who's also obsessed about posting continuously about breastfeeding over FF.

Ronnii · 22/10/2023 22:47

Who's gonna feed the babies while we debate it tho? I don't like changing nappies, that annoys me

I don't mind changing nappies.

There's nothing about parenting I don't like. One thing I love is getting his snots. Bigger the better. Grin

The thing is it can be tricky to make solid plans. I was absolutely going to do mixed feeding as I was having twins and I felt it would make life much easier. They had a milk allergy and I ended up exclusively bf for six months and then along with food till they were nearly two. Quite honestly it was utterly brutal and I barely remember those first two years as I was completely sleep deprived.

Yep it can be. But well done for managing it. I can't imagine what it would be like with twins. Should be proud x

What has your least favourite thing about parenting been? I enjoyed weaning in the beginning but then started to dislike it.

TiredMamOfTwo · 22/10/2023 22:59

This has been done to death who cares how you feed your baby, fed is best the end.

CrystalDay · 22/10/2023 23:03

Not this again

WillowCraft · 22/10/2023 23:10

It really annoys me when people say breastfeeding is amazing and they are proud of themselves for doing it.

It's just a parenting choice that you make because you want to do it. Don't expect a pat on the back.

Also see "breastfeeding journey" and jewellery made with breastmilk. Ick.

I am not sure there's anything that annoys me from formula feeders - probably because they aren't smug and self satisfied (although they probably ought to be, given they are probably having a much more enjoyable life)

Honestly I am so fed up of this feeding debate. Women are not idiots. We are able to look at research and make decisions for our own family. It’s just another stick to beat women with, and at a time when we are at our most vulnerable. Sadly a lot of this pressure comes from fellow mothers.

Same. I’m fed up of this feeding debate.
I formula fed three babies and breastfed one baby. With each one I just did it and enjoyed it, with not a care in the world about what armchair experts thought about breastfeeding and formula.

The only time I seeked help was when I was breastfeeding because it hurt right at the beginning. I wasn’t looking for opinions on whether I was doing the right thing for my baby by breastfeeding or a patronising well done for breastfeeding. I just wanted to know how to help the pain.

SpudleyLass · 22/10/2023 23:13

I found breastfeeding too difficult, just two days in.

Ended up combi feeding by expressing milk and also formula feeding.

Honestly I think an equivalent would be proud of surviving in a gulag or some other torturous test of endurance. Looking back I was most certainly dangerously sleep deprived, probably clinically depressed, but slapping a brave face on it and everyone would say that I was doing so well and so didn't want to prescribe spcialist formula etc.

I'm not denying that bf can be a very lovely thing and has proven health benefits for baby but maternal health and wellbeing is also really important. Women should feed their babies in a way that works best for them. Some women will have different priorities that will encourage them to bf or ff or mixed feeding.

It's not really something that needs debated or judged unless you come across that urban legend of someone feeding their baby coke in a bottle, in that case we should definitely hoik up our judgey pants and call ss.

Well I certainly was proud for doing it. It wasn't an easy journey. And that's okay to feel like that.

I will be getting breastmilk jewellery.

I do love the closeness that you get. My son only feeds once now but I have a feeling it'll change when his sister is here

Give it a rest FFS

Very much this

I think it's a necklace with 2 options. Smug and unbearable.

The switching between usernames is weird BTW @Cowlover89 @Slipknot89

Cowlover89 · 23/10/2023 00:26

It appears I can't change it back to my old username and having to keep typing it is getting annoying. I'm gonna just have to re change it all together. And rather go anonymous to the aholes.
