Hello,
I am a Jewish mum of two small children.
I think I'm posting on here to get a reassurance that there are some good people in this world. I am terrified to be openly Jewish in this country at the moment and I am terrified for my children's future here. This week I was told by a nanny agency 'it will be very difficult to get a nanny to work for a jewish family'. The security patrolling makes me feel nauseous; my neighbour's son attends a jewish school and was kicked on the bus for his obviously jewish school uniform. We aren't obviously Jewish 'looking' - we are not religious but yet I don't feel at all safe. The pro-Palestinian rally today threw up pictures of burning stars of davids (the antizionism isn't antisemitism thing is basically an excuse for saying what you like about jews and getting away with it). Red paint splattered over local jewish primary schools (again if it's not antisemitism, what do we have to do with it) and on top of all of this, the sinking, dismal feeling that in Israel, the only place as a Jew I would imagine feeling safe, 1300+ civilians were massacred in their beds/kidnapped/gang raped/worse.

I feel sick. I feel we are utterly hated here and unsafe there.

When I see videos of TFL tube drivers joining in with palestinian chants as if its a football anthem and flags of Jihad being waved in London I do wonder if I've missed something here. At the recent vigil for the Israeli victims people stood in silence. Singing. Crying. Praying for peace. And today I witness the complete opposite. I didn't see one mention of peace. I only saw hatred.

Half my family are NHS doctors and surgeons. Teachers. Proud of our Jewishness and proud of our Britishness. Why is it as a Jewish person in the UK i feel so utterly isolated and depressed? Many clients and non jewish friends have sent wonderful messages of support so perhaps it is just the vocal minority but it's a scary one nonetheless. AIBU in thinking that life is completely terrifying right now?

Is this some kind of bad joke?

ScaredMamaLondon · 23/10/2023 17:26

@sidesplittinglol the whole October 7 massacre was a fake? All the pathology reports are fake? Honestly get out of this thread. I am horrified.

A famous nazi once said " Say about others what it is you do yourself"

This should be Hamas slogan. In 2021 they were found to have there own properganda people pumping out fake news and misinformation constantly. That is not including a lot of their supporters also making false material and videos etc

The Israeli government like all governments around the world can be flexible with the truth on occasions. However nothing compares to Hamas/Iran properganda.

Below is an image Hamas properganda people released and fooled the world in 2021!

Because it was fake that's why. There was NO proof that those things happened at all. All made up to get the attention of the public to feel sympathy and side with Israel. We all know how Israel love playing the victim.

Oct 7th was fake? You really are too far gone now, aren't you? Seek help @sidesplittinglol

Sadly these types of people are radicalised by social media and sometimes a certain Quater funded TV network. I never know if to feel sorry for them and try to help them see the truth by showing them the fakes or tell them to sod off

Again. Read the post carefully. I was referring to the beheading of babies fgs.

FromEden · 23/10/2023 17:43

Babies were beheaded. This is now an indisputable fact. What difference does it make anyway? Even if they weren't beheaded, they still murdered them. Is that any better? You support these people. Good for you

HipTeens · 23/10/2023 17:45

YANBU. You're as British as I am. I'm joyful to have you as a fellow citizen.

I don't understand what has happened in London, I know there has been a lot of immigration from other countries and cultures over recent decades - does that mean that this country now has a collective dislike of Jews? If so, why?

Mob mentality breeds stupidity.

etmoietmoietmoi · 23/10/2023 17:47

@sidesplittinglol Oh I read it carefully. Your words are chilling to be quite frank.

The hostages that were released came out looking well because that is part of the game Hamas is still playing. I posted about this last week. Said the would keep half hostages in good condition to try and show useful idiots in the west that they are the good guys. However the rest are probably getting tortued and raped as is what Hamas does to Jews.

If Hamas wanted Israel to stop there current mission they would release all hostages and stop bombing Israel. Hamas has been firing rockets at Israel since 7th October. That is 7400 missiles since the pogrom. Most got shot down by the iron dome. However lots got through.

Plus they released two ladies but not the 30 children. That really says a lot about playing games with the lifes of Palestinian and Israel innocent civilians.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 23/10/2023 17:51

The hostages that were released came out looking well looked after.

The autistic little girl and her grandmother who were taken hostage were murdered.

I know 100k on the march seems a lot but bus loads of people were there from places outside London

The population of London is 9 million. Most Londoners or all religions are horrified about these marches and what goes on during them.

Do we think they released those two women to counter the reaction to the two poor hostages found dead? Damage control sort of thing in case the useful idiots that support start having second thoughts.

I don't know the timing of these two happenings but could be a possibility

How is invading a country and killing civilians including children, I'm their own homes defending themselves?

ganondoof · 23/10/2023 18:02

Oh, well that makes it okay then?

sidesplittinglol · 23/10/2023 18:03

I didn't for a second say I supported Hamas. Neither am I antisemitic. No innocent Jew should feel scared or afraid. But at the same time Muslims have been going through this for decades.

And what is an innocent Jew?

So that makes it alright then does it. Muslims have been been killed so they have free rein to torture, rape, kill babies and hostages, 30 of which are children the youngest being 9 months old.

I think you need to shake your head or something. It is never OK to do these things even if you are hurting over muslim deaths. That isn't an excuse and nobody gets to be a martyr for killing babies, even Jewish ones.

Trulywonderful · 23/10/2023 18:13

crimsonfleet · 23/10/2023 18:09

And what is an innocent Jew?

The only innocent Jew is a dead Jew according to extreme Islamics and the very left (As in Corbyn fans love posting sad Holocaust Memorial Day Tweets, but they are not so keen on Jews that are alive).

And Jews haven't?

Do you really think anti-semitism is a new thing that never existed before 1948?

AtrociousCircumstance · 23/10/2023 18:45

@ScaredMamaLondon

Just wanted to send love and support. So sorry you are experiencing this 😔

ScaredMamaLondon · 23/10/2023 18:51

@AtrociousCircumstance thank you <3

And thank you to everyone on here. As I said already on Saturday it was pissing down with rain, I took my kids to soft play with my husband and both of us sat watching them on the verge of tears with images of the protests on our phones. I felt so isolated and so hated.

By the by - if anyone cares - I have now counted at least ten signs from the protest which said 'i support Hamas'. In case you thought people were confused about the distinction. There, loud and clear.

Meanwhile as a Jew I have to introduce myself as "Hi, I'm G, but don't worry I don't really like Bibi Netanyahu's policies and I consider myself to be quite left leaning and even though I'm Jewish I know I apparently have some white privilege so just thinking about it most of the time'. It's bloody exhausting. Would be nice to just be proud to be Jewish and proud to be British as I always was.
