it was an assortment of random unhealthy snacks… 🤔 Yes, I appreciate he was in a rush but aibu to think is pretty bad? I mean how long does it take to throw some fruit and yogurt in a bowl. Give me strength 🙄

Be more mindful?

He would have got far worse from me for that appalling "effort". That would be poor for my MIL, who once gave mine hot dogs for breakfast as they asked for sausages and she didn't have any.

Wishimaywishimight · 20/10/2023 10:44

My favourite breakfast (a very rare occurrence obviously!) is a cup of tea and a packet of rolo's - pure bliss!

However, to throw a pile of crap into a bowl and call it "breakfast" is beyond lazy, it actually shows a lack of care and consideration for the child.

Threewheeler1 · 20/10/2023 10:44

😂but also 😭
what a hopeless spoon!

Cornishclio · 20/10/2023 10:45

Why didn't he just give the toddler cereal. Takes no effort unless he needs to spoon feed them.

Worriedaboutc · 20/10/2023 10:45

My autistic 3 year old has a little dairy milk bar and a baby bottle of formula each morning - the dietician told us don’t worry it’s just calories 🤦‍♀️ have to laugh or I’ll cry but I know she is talking sense !

IncompleteSenten · 20/10/2023 10:45

I remember one time our now 24 year old got chocolate pudding for breakfast courtesy of his dad. He was a toddler. He thought all his Christmases had come and knew enough to scoff it down before I appeared in the kitchen 😂

It's not a big deal as a one off, I wouldn't worry about it.

Nowherenew · 20/10/2023 10:43

I assume OP took the photo to show us, else we’d probably not believe it.

So she'd have stopped her toddler from eating it presumably?

WowOK · 20/10/2023 10:45

Is this a weaponised incompetence thing? Don't ask me to feed our child. I'm useless and they will only eat shit on my watch. The tactics.

SaturdayGiraffe · 20/10/2023 10:45

Keep them and serve them up for dinner.

INeedAnotherName · 20/10/2023 10:46

It seems to me your lazy husband needs more practice at doing breakfast. Looking at that I would suggest at least 6 months worth is needed.

Rice krispies or weetabix with milk is just as easy. Still full of sugar but at least they are fortified with vitamins, plus the milk.

CurlewKate · 20/10/2023 10:46

@TerfTalking "He would have got far worse from me for that appalling "effort". That would be poor for my MIL, who once gave mine hot dogs for breakfast as they asked for sausages and she didn't have any."
What's the problem with this?

AdaColeman · 20/10/2023 10:46

That's a rubbish breakfast, though I bet the toddler loved it!

HakunaMatiłda · 20/10/2023 10:47

How did you manage to take a photo?

Tdcp · 20/10/2023 10:47

Yeah he's absolutely done that on purpose. I take it he doesn't have much responsibility for the kids in general? And when he does its begrudgingly.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 20/10/2023 10:47

Might as well have given the toddler a bowl of Tate and Lyle. There’s cutting corners and then there’s that.

CurlewKate · 20/10/2023 10:48

Incidentally, @Teegan89 , what was the two year old doing while you too the picture?

SamAndEIIa · 20/10/2023 10:48

What's the problem with this?

Hot dogs = sausages. It’s not as if they were requesting cereal and were handed a crack pipe.

SoShallINever · 20/10/2023 10:48

Is he Italian? That looks like a typical Italian breakfast to me.
Good luck trying to get LO to eat porridge ever again!

Taylorswiftserastour · 20/10/2023 10:49

That's pretty much my dream breakfast. I'm 38.

I'd not be happy with that. He's either entirely useless, an idiot or a lazy git.

AmandaHoldensLips · 20/10/2023 10:49

What a lazy fuck.

I hope you present your DH with a plastic bowl full of crisps for his dinner tonight.

MissTrip82 · 20/10/2023 10:49

Surely this wasn’t actually given to the child? As whomever took the photo clearly did so because they knew it was entirely inappropriate and so presumably didn’t give it to a toddler.

DuplicateUserName · 20/10/2023 10:50

Growlybear83 · 20/10/2023 10:34

It's a pretty awful and unhealthy breakfast, but as a one off, it's hardly the end of the world!

Why does something have to be the 'end of the world' for an OP to be annoyed about it?

I'd be annoyed at the obvious 'I don't give a fuck' from the child's dad.

littleripper · 20/10/2023 10:51

When a man is fucking lazy and irresponsible telling him to 'be more mindful' is absurd and ridiculous.

OneTC · 20/10/2023 10:51

PuttingDownRoots · 20/10/2023 10:22

Mine gave our 8mo custard once but had got confused between the fruit pot and custard pot!

That isn't even lazy. That is deliberate.
Unless the toddler managed to get it themselves?

I grew up thinking custard was breakfast because my mum used to make it all the time. Grin

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 20/10/2023 10:51

My MIL used to give my two toast followed by 2 biscuits for breakfast when she looked after them - they loved it! Me not so much, but it was a small price to pay for her looking after them once a week while I went to work 😊
