it was an assortment of random unhealthy snacks… 🤔 Yes, I appreciate he was in a rush but aibu to think is pretty bad? I mean how long does it take to throw some fruit and yogurt in a bowl. Give me strength 🙄

My DH is rubbish at doing brekkie for DD 4, often biscuits or some sort of rubbish.

I don't like it, but it's once a week, Sunday mornings are my only day for a lie in, so I let it go, and make sure she has enough of the good stuff at other time.

Humbugg · 21/10/2023 22:07

I would be absolutely fuming

Carpediemmakeitcount · 21/10/2023 21:45

It won't leave you feeling filled. I would feel empty if that's all I ate for breakfast. Fruit and yogurt is a pudding you have after dinner or a snack. I want a spring in my step in the mornings not hunger noises from my belly.

Edited

Yoghurt is an impressive source of protein. Protein is highly filling, if feeling full is important to you. You feel full and it also reduces hunger by reducing the hormone ghrelin. So it makes you feel full, boosts your metabolism and increases the amount of energy you burn.

In other words, it’s fucking perfect for breakfast.

Bet your little one loved it!
Chill, it won't hurt now and then

Jesus

(1) gives child shit breakfast
(2) trained you to let him have a lie in by demonstrating shitty parenting, showing you can't trust him to care for his own child
(3) Refuses to discuss a serious relationship issue
(4) juvenile name calling
(5) claims a jar of Nutella is good for a child - a clear pisstake
(6) 'secrets from mummy'

A prince among men.

I'll taste my own bile after yuk

Justwingingit2005 · 21/10/2023 22:20

I've not read all the previous responses but as one off its not going to do much damage.
I've had a bad week and yesterday I felt rubbish..... About 11am I had the thickest slice of toast with Nutella as quite frankly a banana and yoghurt wouldn't cut it.
It's a one off.

rockinginarockingchair · 21/10/2023 22:33

Wow a whole lot got going on over nothing.

No wonder there are so many kids end up with eating disorders in their teens.
There brought up with hearing parents going on about how bad some foods are.
Some food is.
But once in a while its not gonna hurt.

You've trained yourself to have a sweet tooth. You can also untrain that.

Your own bile? See a doctor for some omeprazole.

I have yogurt with fruit and seeds most days for my lunch to be honest and it fills me up and keeps me energised until dinner time in the evening. Protein is where it’s at.

Why the hell would you want to? Life has to have some enjoyment in it.

fuckssaaaaake · 21/10/2023 22:47

Was he hungover? Mine may or may not have had to odd domino's pizza left overs once or twice 😉.

I exercise 6 days a week I like to eat healthily and properly. If I want to go on a restrictive diet then I will eat pigeon food like a yogurt for breakfast.

Children run around all day burning lots of energy a yogurt for breakfast is not enough they will be hungry for more food. They need food energy and their brain it helps children to stay focussed at school or nursery.

Yes so do I and I have an appropriate diet for it too. I agree that my son usually has carbs and protein for breakfast, but I wouldn’t give him biscuits. He does have biscuits, but not four of them in a bowl. I think we’re probably on the same page.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 21/10/2023 23:10

The lazy bastard is basically telling you he can’t be bothered to feed his own child and this is deliberate so that you don’t ask him again. I’d be so infuriated by this and it’s not really about the biscuit and cake per se, which won’t do any harm as a one off, but about his qualities as a husband and father. He’s shit at both.

Milliemoo6 · 22/10/2023 00:03

My degree in nutrition says otherwise hun

Milliemoo6 · 22/10/2023 00:04

Carbs from fruit come mostly from sugar, which is fast burning and has a low satiety. Some yoghurt has protein but most doesn't have a lot compared to other foods and you have to eat a lot of it. You think this child is going to be eating a good portion of plain greek yoghurt? Plus, a balanced meal needs to contain complex carbs. Hence my comment.

Milliemoo6 · 22/10/2023 00:08

Straight from Google

TheHateIsNotGood · 22/10/2023 00:17

Just stop buying all those biscuits and mini-rolls. Yoghurt is your friend, can fancy up any boring stuff - sweet or savoury.

If it’s just a one off, obviously it’s not great but a one off… he was in a rush you said.
I don’t think I’d be mad.
Who has the sausage roll for breakfast?
Thats not exactly great for a two year old either, if it is DC.

Why should people stop buying treats? I've got a bottle of gin in my cupboard. Should I pour it down the sink in case someone decides to give it to a child for breakfast?
