it was an assortment of random unhealthy snacks… 🤔 Yes, I appreciate he was in a rush but aibu to think is pretty bad? I mean how long does it take to throw some fruit and yogurt in a bowl. Give me strength 🙄

I think YABU taking the time to post on here about it tbh

oh my husbands done something daft must post about it

ThisIsntThe80sPat · 21/10/2023 10:09

😆😆 least he fed her I suppose

(but in seriousness, really? A piece of toast and peanut butter doesn't take long 🤦🏼‍♀️)

Try to never purchase those foods.

I hope it is a one off.

This post has a hint of blaming the woman for buying them 😡

He should a. Serve a healthy breakfast even with a cupboard of sweets and b. Do the shopping himself too.

What a low bar.

Even the comments saying ‘oh my husbands done something daft must post about it’

Serious low bar and weaponised incompetence.

YouJustDoYou · 21/10/2023 10:26

Shit dad.

LeonBlack · 21/10/2023 10:26

I see this sort of thing on here often. ‘Oh my husband’s an incompetent buffoon that can’t parent, let’s all roll our eyes and laugh’.

LimePi · 21/10/2023 10:53

Sorry that’s pretty daft…. Nothing to be appreciative about

EtiennePalmiere · 21/10/2023 10:55

Hope he improves OP.

This thread is an interesting contrast to the ultra processed foods ones with women tearing their hair out about unhealthy stock cubes, them men just waltzing around giving out bowls of biscuits, sigh.

3luckystars · 21/10/2023 10:56

I just think some people would give this while watching a film in the evening and would think it’s a ‘treat’

The time of day doesn’t matter, it’s still shite but the standards lower over the course of the day (in my opinion)

DragonFly98 · 21/10/2023 11:14

CharlieRight · 20/10/2023 10:23

That is almost unbelievable.

I took a lot of pride in sorting out my kid's breakfasts around that age

Thsts hilarious did you award yourself gold stars too?

It just isn't the same though, is it?

A treat with a film likely after the 3 main meals of the day is different than offering it as one of the actual main meals of the day.

Especially since OP's DH did it because he can't be arsed and clearly sees himself as doing a favour for OP.

Bonbon21 · 21/10/2023 11:22

This is not a problem.
He got it wrong.. for whatever reason..
A gentle conversation, guiding him back to the correct path... AND LOTS OF PRACTICE.... will remedy this situation for all time.

He is just a man, my dear.... just a man!

🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

genesis92 · 21/10/2023 11:24

Hahaha I'm sorry but that's so funny.

CornishGem1975 · 21/10/2023 11:24

Oh god I've probably done similar when we've been in a rush. They survived to tell the tale. Still got all their own teeth.

LuvSmallDogs · 21/10/2023 11:32

Pain au Chocolat + fruit has become a standard kid breakfast in my house lately. My autistic son goes through phases with food (particularly eating in the morning) and my younger son insists on the same, and I have three of them to get out the door singlehandedly, sooo...

My dad used to give me what he calls "American specials" (???) for breakfast - 3-4 digestive biscuits topped with peanut butter and banana.😁

toolate2 · 21/10/2023 11:41

You know what to give your husband for tea tonight

RudsyFarmer · 21/10/2023 11:41

Well that has zero nutrition so he may as well have served up some dirt, some Lego, a bowl full of wood. I mean the bloke is a fucking idiot.

Yes it is a low bar. A friend of mine had her SO limbo under it though, when she was elsewhere he forgot to feed himself and his child lunch. I don't eat 3 meals a day and sometimes only graze before tea, but I don't forget to feed the kids.

I was being sarcastic 🙄

My husband takes DS to nursery 3 times a week, does breakfast on these days and DS always gets Weetabix or toast and fruit. It's really not hard.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 21/10/2023 12:31

If he doesn’t regularly give her breakfast and she’s a fussy eater to boot then while this is still an epically shit breakfast you would do both of you a favour and your child by some sort of fridge planner with meal suggestions. It’s easy to draw a blank when tired and under pressure. Toddlers change how much and what they eat so much at that age it’s really easy to be out of the loop and not really they’ve jumped from 1 to 2 weetabix and then underfed them.
So a list of ideas and quantities can be a godsend in a hurry.

Equally if trying to improve your own diet having a list or a plan, having the food in the fridge/freezer/cupboard is a huge way to not eat crap. Unless you’re the sort of person who can take one look at a store cupboard and magic up something delicious out of thin air. I’m not and guilty of this issue myself but a list of suggestions that everyone likes takes a lot of the thinking out of it

MrsSkylerWhite · 21/10/2023 12:33

Blimey, that’s really not great, is it(if you like him having teeth, anyway)? YANBU.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 21/10/2023 12:46

It's true that this as a one-off won't do her any harm, but that's not the point, is it? He's either genuinely lazy or clueless, or he's performing uselessness to show you what happens when you dare to ask him to do 'your' job.

Dhilezzz · 21/10/2023 13:07

Proper council that

Oh God no. I hate cooking. I do like the idea of a meal plan though. We can definitely all do better.
