it was an assortment of random unhealthy snacks… 🤔 Yes, I appreciate he was in a rush but aibu to think is pretty bad? I mean how long does it take to throw some fruit and yogurt in a bowl. Give me strength 🙄

So I took the dog out this lunchtime and DH stayed with DD and gave her lunch (egg fried rice with vegetables). I come through the door after a muddy walk to be greeted by a completely naked child covered in chocolate mousse singing jingle bells 😂😂😂

Well that has zero nutrition so he may as well have served up some dirt, some Lego, a bowl full of wood. I mean the bloke is a fucking idiot.

😂😂😂
A lovable idiot nonetheless

That’s terrible! I’m no health fiend and am fairly relaxed with things like sweet treats for kids (in moderation and at the right time of day!), but biscuits and cakes for breakfast for a 2 year old?! My DH tried to give our DD a bag of Wotsits once and I was furious but even he wouldn’t have done this. I don’t understand why he couldn’t have made a piece of toast or offered some fruit and/or yoghurt?

madeinmanc · 21/10/2023 15:09

He knows you won't ask him again.

MumApril1990 · 21/10/2023 15:18

I’m lazy in the morning so I just give mine a banana. And I also eat a banana. Don’t understand the logic of biscuits.

Thriving30 · 21/10/2023 15:26

This has got to be a wind up.

BusyCaz · 20/10/2023 10:21

As a one of it won't hurt, but thats really crap laziness to be honest. A banana or indeed any fruit would of been better.

I agree, as a one-off it’s OK but not every week. Depends how stressed/busy/overwhelmed he is to know if this really acceptable. Yogurt is messy :-)

Faydi · 21/10/2023 16:21

I suspect this is not much worse than a lot of the sugary cereals out there.

I suspect this is not much worse than a lot of the sugary cereals out there.

But it's also about the intent. Cereal was marketed to generations since 1894 as 'a healthy start to the day'. We know better now, but old habits die hard.

Whereas chucking a handful of snacks at a baby is clearly someone who dgaf.

itsgettingweird · 21/10/2023 16:49

I couldn't waste any spare minutes worrying about it 🤷‍♀️

We've all had those days we've fed our kids crap for some reason or another.

I tend not to judge because then when I'm having one of those days I've set myself up to fail because I'm only allowed to be perfect.

DonnaBanana · 21/10/2023 17:01

I couldn’t get wound up by it. If your child is otherwise slim and active there’s no harm in a little fudging of the diet. If they’re chubby or unhealthy already then obviously not

43ontherocksporfavor · 21/10/2023 17:17

God what’s wrong with the man?? Has he not heard of toast/ cereal or eggs??

43ontherocksporfavor · 21/10/2023 17:20

Banana is even easier! Very odd for a grown man to think that’s ok.

He's going to set them up for a complete sugar high and then crash. I'd be raging. There's no need for that at all if you had fruit and yoghurt in the house.

Does he like to play good cop a lot? It looks like he's wanted to give a 'treat' breakfast because there's no way he could think that's an acceptable breakfast for a 2 yo.

If mornings are really chaotic, ds loves overnight oats with natural yoghurt, ready brek and fruit in it. I freeze in batches so it just needs left out to defrost and it's ready for the morning.

Did you know that the "sugar high" thing is a myth? Not saying that sugar is good for children but the science says that the "high and crash" thing is plain old not true. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/medical-myths-does-sugar-make-children-hyperactive

Does sugar really make children hyperactive?

Most parents are convinced that sugar causes hyperactivity in children. Surprisingly, scientific evidence does not back up this theory.

It's just total laziness. Everyone is busy nowadays but don't live on takeaways.

beanii · 21/10/2023 17:52

Replaced it with fruit?

That's no better - full of sugar (albeit natural) and nothing of sustenance to keep her full.

Surely you had bread for toast?

Errr have you not seen how busy Just Eat etc are? Takeaways ARE a normal tea and not a treat now.

Are you serious. You think (ordinary white) bread is better than fruit?

43ontherocksporfavor · 21/10/2023 17:55

@beanii Not here they’re not! It doesn’t make sense that there’s a cost of living crisis and at the same time everyone can afford takeout several times a week!

43ontherocksporfavor · 21/10/2023 17:56

Banana maybe?

More filling than an apple that she was given.
