it was an assortment of random unhealthy snacks… 🤔 Yes, I appreciate he was in a rush but aibu to think is pretty bad? I mean how long does it take to throw some fruit and yogurt in a bowl. Give me strength 🙄

Not a ridiculous comment dear, they're facts. Child didn't even eat them. Mum was there so could have simply eye rolled at Dad and asked him not to serve biscuits for breakfast. Lots of angry Mums over a couple of biscuits is quite laughable. Put the pitchforks down dears.

Blimey, I thought Michael Winner was dead.

EerieSilence · 21/10/2023 20:18

Nutella on bread or brioche would be my choice of a great breakfast. Strangely enough, we are all alive, well (as much as we can be) and DD is thriving, sporty and a stellar BMI.
I'm truly wondering at some responses here. We love our veggies and fruit ourselves but over here it doesn't come with a stick to put it up our butts and a pearl necklace to clutch onto to. You'd think he tried to give your child cyanid or poisonous mushrooms, based on some responses here.
Not sure OP what you wanted to achieve by posting it here, instead, a 5 minute chat with your DH would have been enough, just to tell him that there are other options that would be more appropriate.
And if you're both struggling with weight, why do you keep those things at home?

CornishGem1975 · 21/10/2023 20:19

It's a biscuit 😝 it's not a gateway drug.

Do you think letting a small child go hungry in the morning is kind?

Goldbar · 21/10/2023 20:27

@GavinStacey makes a good point.

Would your DH be happy to eat this for his dinner? Plate him up a few biscuits next time it's your turn to make dinner because you're "in a rush" and see.

No, he lives on in many of us.

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 21/10/2023 20:31

Calm down, it's just biscuits and a cake and it's a weekend 😏

Must be nice to be so cool and chill

Oh it is. Worse things happen at sea as they say. Getting so het up over a couple of biscuits at breakfast could give someone an ulcer.

Do you normally have trouble with pattern recognition?

It is a known pattern that some men don't think childrearing is their job. They will actively neglect a child (a child who had eaten since the night before, not being given food in the morning) in order to make sure they are not asked again to carry out a childrearing task.

So if someone shits on your doorstep once, 'oh well, it was just the once.'

So...on this thread for breakfast

Fruit - no
Cereal - no
oats - no

What the fuck do I feed my kid for breakfast? is toast ok?

No a special vegan breakfast with no animal or preservatives and no sugar or salt. Leaves are an acceptable breakfast or breath in air. It's the yummy mummy rage feeding their sprogs leaves.

IDontOftenComment · 21/10/2023 20:51

What a load of fuss about nothing .. it’s one breakfast … for goodness sake I’ve never heard so much rubbish over a biscuit and a cake, you’d think he’d fed her poison by some of the comments on here, for heaven sake lighten up people, the world will not end if a child eats a mini roll for breakfast … I thought it was quite funny to be honest!

BananaPyjamaLlama · 21/10/2023 20:52

So many unnecessary and mean comments on this thread. Take some advice from Thumpers dad maybe? If you cant say something nice then dont say nuffink at all.
Constructive criticism is fine but so many of these comments are mean girl just for the sake of being a bitch.

Milliemoo6 · 21/10/2023 20:56

Fruit and yoghurt isn't really a decent breakfast though is it, no carbs or protein and that's not going to fill a child up for very long. Biscuits and cakes aren't either but it's better than nothing

It's one breakfast, true, but when there's one parent always making sure a child gets a balanced diet while the other parent gives the child junk food when it falls to them it feels crap. I have an unwritten rule that you can only feed the children junk food after 10 times of making them a decent meal. That stopped my other half from always heating up a frozen pizza on the rare occasion he had to make dinner.

Fruit is carbs, yoghurt has protein (especially greek yoghurt or skyr[.

OhNoItsThePinkyPonk · 21/10/2023 21:11

Perhaps he gave them a bowl of home made muesli with oat milk, then took that picture to wind you up.

BurbageBrook · 21/10/2023 21:20

That is really shit.

Well, it kind of is. The OP said both her and the H are overweight, and it’s something she really doesn’t want for her child.

A fat (and lazy and manipulative in my mind) dad giving a child currently unburdened by weight issues a bowl of cakes and biscuits for breakfast could lay down a really fucked up relationship with, and understanding of, food.

Tell me you don’t understand nutrition without telling me you don’t understand nutrition.

Also, surely not, but this post almost sounds like the poster believes Mini Rolls and Malted Milks to be a better breakfast choice than yoghurt and fruit.

Carpediemmakeitcount · 21/10/2023 21:41

I grew up eating a healthy diet no sweets or biscuits. When I was older and I got my own money I made up for it. After reading this thread I think I will stop buying cereals and go down the sweet or savoury route with fruit. I think we would all leave the house with a spring in our step in the mornings.

It won't leave you feeling filled. I would feel empty if that's all I ate for breakfast. Fruit and yogurt is a pudding you have after dinner or a snack. I want a spring in my step in the mornings not hunger noises from my belly.

Newliferequired · 21/10/2023 21:50

This would be a good breakfast from my husband. He's given DD the whole packet of biscuits and a jar of nutella before. Its one of the reasons why I want to be the one to get up with her in the morning. There is no point in me saying anything to him as when I have tried he says that I'm mean and these sort of things are good for her and he tells her not to tell mummy because it's their secret.
