To think Biden is not fit

Watching him right now on bbc news live. I can barely hear him, he's completely unintelligible.

People will call me ageist but I believe he is just getting too old for the top job.

He absolutely has the onset of dementia and should not be doing the job. He should be enjoying a peaceful retirement. He wants to run again which is almost incomprehensible to anyone but his handlers who tell him what to say. If Trump and him are the best that USA can come up with then God help us all.

stopitstopitnooow · 18/10/2023 14:11

His whispering, rambling monologues are incredibly embarrassing.

We don't need someone like this in charge when the ME is going to start rising up.

It was unsettling, watching him on the news just now. You couldn't quite anticipate exactly how each sentence would end.

stopitstopitnooow · 18/10/2023 14:18

Very uncomfortable viewing

Completely agree!

He is far too old and frail to fulfil this enormously powerful role.

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 18/10/2023 15:12

I can hear him ok!

flufferknutter · 18/10/2023 15:20

He's a disgrace and those who tolerate him being president are an even bigger disgrace. If this is the best they can come up with, then I despair.

Sapphire387 · 18/10/2023 15:33

I thought it was a bit fucking cheeky of him to say the world knew about the holocaust but did nothing.

I wouldn't call fighting a war against the nazis 'nothing'.

Dotjones · 18/10/2023 15:34

It's not as if the American public didn't know he'd be like this when they voted him in. It's bizarre that people were so offended by Trump and therefore voted in someone who out-trumps Trump. Incompetent, incoherent, restricting access to abortion and building a wall to keep the Mexicans out. Trump tried to do it, Biden accomplishes it.

They didn't do it because of the Holocaust FYI. They went to war mostly for the usual reasons - territory and treaties Many in power in the US and UK either believed the Nazi " work camps" smoke screen stories or were happy to see Jews kicked out of Europe.
The full story of the camps only came out in the last stages of the war.

Have you noticed sometimes he doesn't end his sentences? He forgets who he is talking to as well. He and Trump are both too old and it's really beyond comprehension that the USA can't come up with better candidates.

Anything is better than Trump but the Democratic Party need their heads knocking together if this is the really best they can do

TokyoSushi · 18/10/2023 15:40

It's far from ideal, but I think that they can probably manage until the end of this term. There's no way he can/should do another 4 years though, the end of that term is 5 years from now, can you imagine how he'll be? It's not his fault, it's simply an age/health thing.

Tangled123 · 18/10/2023 15:46

I thought the Democrat’s plan was to get Biden elected because he’s ‘safe’, boring and appealed to undecided voters, but to eventually switch to Kamala when Biden died or became too incapable? I haven’t watched Biden but sounds like that time is coming near.

araiwa · 18/10/2023 15:48

It could've been worse, could've been trump

Highandlows · 18/10/2023 15:48

I always knew and saw him like this. Was called Trumpist and other things. Obama was doing his campaign. So scary to think he is the US president amidst all is happening.

Efacsen · 18/10/2023 15:53

He's 80 after all but not a young and sprightly octogenerian obviously

Enormously stressful stuff he's dealing with - plus it's been like a day-trip half way across the world and back so jet-lagged too?

Hope that his judgement remains unimpaired during this perilous time

Another term is ridiculous IMO but who else do the Democrats have?

uncomfortablydumb53 · 18/10/2023 15:54

I agree
He trails off in the middle of sentences and appears bewildered a lot of the time
He also has motor coordination difficulties with his falling frequently and lacking sense of direction which are all signs of dementia

I thought that was their plan last time round, it's not as if the problems weren't apparent before the last election.

I can scarcely believe he's being encouraged to run again.

I would say it was about even. Both are unfit for office.

Conkersinautumn · 18/10/2023 15:55

Less rambling than the rambling liar they had before.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 18/10/2023 15:57

I'd been wondering what it would take for a thread to be started about this; usually it seems that few like to comment on Biden because they're (understandably) worried about Trump being elected instead

Clearly he's not to blame for his very obvious difficulties, but if he's still capable of making any decisions at all he's certainly to blame for opting to run again.
I keep wondering whether his loved ones can't persuade him to stand aside - for his own sake as well as everyone else's - but maybe they don't want to, or if they do perhaps he doesn't want to listen to them?

And no, Biden and Trump certainly aren't the best America has to offer, but then completely normal and decent people often won't touch politics with a bargepole

Efacsen · 18/10/2023 15:59

Might be wrong here but thought Kamala wouldn't be an okay candidate - not just a woman but because of her heritage

But USA allegedly 'not ready' for a black POTUS proved wrong by Obama

Neverinamonthofsundays · 18/10/2023 16:07

Bring back Obama!

Edited

I am aware. It's still factually inaccurate to say we did 'nothing'.
