To think Biden is not fit

Watching him right now on bbc news live. I can barely hear him, he's completely unintelligible.

People will call me ageist but I believe he is just getting too old for the top job.

OP posts:
Kangaroobrain · 18/10/2023 16:11

I'm also stunned that the Democrats didn't have a replacement in mind for the next run. Without being ageist, realistically people do slow down and lose capability for that kind of stress and role at that age - that's why people retire!

What worries me is that it's playing straight into Trump's hands. I can't believe they can't come up with an alternative on both sides.

AncientBallerina · 18/10/2023 16:15

Imagine saying ‘the other team’ - he probably couldn’t find the word side because of his cognitive issues but it comes across as so patronising and trivialising. Anyone can make a mistake but anyone in the role of president should be agile enough to correct it.

BethDuttonsTwin · 18/10/2023 16:18

You’re not wrong OP, but last time I saw it suggested that Biden wasn’t up to snuff, on a thread, some posters from the US descended onto it and strenuously told anyone off name called and told them they were thick , who dared suggest that his term wasn’t going smoothly. I think some of them are so absolutely terrified that they’ll get Trump again that they cannot bear even the mildest criticism of poor old confused Joe.

As someone mentioned on another thread, he may have been encouraged to say this to lessen the risk of him using completely the wrong country's name

After all it wouldn't be the first time ...

Efacsen · 18/10/2023 16:20

Makes me wonder what's the deal with the Military doctors who do the yearly health checks - both Trump and Biden have noticeable 'issues' but both passed as A1 OK !

It was sort of known that Reagan had dementia when in office though the actual severity of it was concealed

Perhaps they are all a bit like puppets and can carry on as long as they present okay socially are compliant and important stuff is done by other people behind the scenes

I thought it was a bit fucking cheeky of him to say the world knew about the holocaust but did nothing.

I wouldn't call fighting a war against the nazis 'nothing'.

Well yes. I mean the US only arrived after Japan took the war to their door.

MarkWithaC · 18/10/2023 16:21

Sapphire387 · 18/10/2023 16:09

I am aware. It's still factually inaccurate to say we did 'nothing'.

What a silly argument. Clearly he was talking about the long period for which the rest of the world DID do nothing, including denying that the death camps existed.

Honestly, yes. Women in the US ARE terrified of another Trump term. The vast majority of liberal people I know (living in a Republican, South state) don't like Biden but knew he was the only candidate who would beat Trump. We are still largely a sexist and racist country so despite the better candidates available to be POTUS they likely would not have beaten the old, white, racist Republican man in the General election, when so many of them are still furious we elected Obama, twice. He riles up the worst dregs of society and convinces them they're right and important.

I do not want Biden to run again. I also want Trump to go to jail. Or die.

But ultimately Biden IS better than Trump would have been, and that was the only option we were given.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 18/10/2023 16:07

Bring back Obama!

I like Obama but a lot of the current problems in the ME are acknowledged to have stepped up a gear under his administration.

I don't think Biden (or his team) are doing a bad job of balancing the current very difficult situation. Which is more important than how snappy your sound bites are.

Ibizafun · 18/10/2023 16:27

Totally agree.. not fit for purpose.

Wanderingowl · 18/10/2023 16:32

I don't know if it's AI or not but I thought this thread was in response to the video doing the rounds today of him saying he was born in Israel. Which he obviously wasn't.

Isitsixoclockalready · 18/10/2023 16:37

America is a mess politically. I mean we have it bad here but it's just so poisonous over there. Voter suppression, culture wars, restricting access to abortion, political grifters....to be fair, it is very much like the UK, except thank goodness abortion rights although I'm not naive enough to think that wouldn't be removed by some here too.

Upsetrethis · 18/10/2023 16:39

The British and US are both war mongering countries . They are an absolute disgrace. The uk makes weapons so benefits from war , they are also partially to blame for the absolute shit show that’s in the Middle East . By pulling out of the EU they’ve have also managed to destabilise Europe. Look at the amount of countries that the uk or uk governments with their army colonised ?? Like seriously look at how many counties the uk has Fckt up and America. They are both warring nations. The uk colonised my country and made absolute bits of it for years and every time I see the pomp and ceremony of ww2 commemorating we are reminded of it being the only time the uk were the “goodies “ which is why presumably you have to celebrate it so much to distract from all the other awful stuff perpetrated by that same army . The US are no different. They keep dropping the nazi word for impact and that nobody can challenge them , that’s why Biden is using it , to silence people objecting to the horrors of what’s being inflicted on the Palestinian people .

Ap24 · 18/10/2023 16:43

He is an embarrassment. Remember when we used to laugh at Bush Jr? He seems incredibly articulate in comparison to Biden and Trump.

topnoddy · 18/10/2023 16:49

He just a puppet anyways .

Highandlows · 18/10/2023 21:14

Obama is enjoying his millions why would he bother.

User135644 · 18/10/2023 21:32

The Democrats are just dreadful. Trump won in the first place because Hilary was so reviled. Now he'll win again because Biden doesn't even know what day it is.

ltappleby · 18/10/2023 21:36

Somebody must be making decisions, but I doubt it’s President Biden

Babyroobs · 18/10/2023 21:41

Absolute idiot. I was cringing when he said it looked like the missile that hit the hospital was from the other team. Like it's a bloody sports competition rather than a bloody war. Horrendous. He needs to go.

tpxqi · 18/10/2023 22:08

The fact that people actually believe he’s in charge shows how people will fall for anything they read in the news.

The guy can hardly remember his own name most of the time.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 18/10/2023 22:14

He just a puppet anyways

Well yes, in the sense that's he's the figurehead of a colossal administration

But it's usually considered a plus for figureheads to be able to operate on the world stage without causing widespread embarrassment

nobleisle · 18/10/2023 22:14

There absolutely should be an age limit on running the country. Don't care if I sound ageist. There should be.

Trulywonderful · 18/10/2023 22:20

I just don't get why with a population the size of Americans a couple of appauling old men like Biden and Trump get elected.

Biden should be in a retirement complex. Look at him. I am not being ageist, I truly believe this is elderly abuse for him to be president of America. He isn't physically or mentally up to it.

Every time they show him try to walk down airplane steps I think this is it he will fall and break his neck. I mean yes using the stair makes for that photo opportunity. However just dock the plane at a terminal so he can walk straight out into the building no steps.

Fighting the war against the Nazis was nothing to do with the holocaust though, was it? The world turned a blind eye to the holocaust, refused to allow in Jewish refugees etc. All that was going on before the start of the war. The war was due to Germany attacking Poland, and Japan attacking the US
