Neighbours chopped down their own trees but

they are now unhappy with the fact they can see the stuff stored down the side of my garage.

So they’ve moved all the stuff to the back of my garage. Without asking me.

I can now see their hideous 1970’s house whereas before I could see fir trees in which the Goldcrests gathered.

I’m toying with what I can put down the side of my garage. What about one of those blow up bendy balloon men they have outside some businesses? I wouldn’t be able to see it.

CF neighbours. I would keep an eye out for any movement on your buildings. This happened to my mum, neighbours chopped down a few large trees and her garden sank my half a metre. I thought she was exaggerating until I see it. Had a massive insurance claim.

Yes, removing trees can cause problems.
@Wordsworse take photographs monthly for a while. At least it’s autumn so the ground shouldn’t dry up too much.

RedSquirrelsRock · 17/10/2023 18:07

I think a blow up sex doll might add some class to your junk pile. One of the most hideous looking ones you can find, that'll show 'em! 😁

CutesyUserName · 17/10/2023 18:08

All joking aside, do watch for ground heave which can be caused when trees near buildings are removed. I think that the roots of the trees die, creating a space where they once were and causing nearby buildings to slowly collapse into the space (something like that). Just keep an eye on it. Doesn't always happen, but worth noting.

Xmasgifts · 17/10/2023 18:09

@Wordsworse you can get some really cheap ones on Facebook marketplace, some whole collections 😂 or charity shops. One on top of the stinking compost heap should do the trick

RedSquirrelsRock · 17/10/2023 18:12

Tree roots die and shrink back? Heck, we had an ENORMOUS leylandii in our old garden, the new people said they were going to remove it. They may have disappeared down a sinkhole as a result!!
(Going to find passport and emigrate to Outer Mongolia, live off grid and herd yak or something)😁

Wordsworse · 17/10/2023 18:13

@RedSquirrelsRock

Honestly it’s not really a junk pile. One bin has fermenting old horse poo in. The others are just random bins I collected from my horse owning days.

The wooden fence in the bottom right of the picture - does that mark the boundary?

If it is, it would seem that the trees were completely on your land.

DelightfullyDotty · 17/10/2023 18:41

I’d be far more annoyed by the loss of the trees. I can’t imagine why anyone would chop down a tree for no reason🙄. No wonder the planet is in such a state when most people are more focussed on the trespassing aspect.

Sorry but it does look like junk. and strewn haphazardly. I wouldn't like that to be my view. I think they could have asked though especially as it sounds like you are cordial.

Wordsworse · 17/10/2023 18:45

Strangely no it doesn’t. I queried that and apparently their gardener person put that up a few years ago to contain the stuff that my twat if a DH was piling up at the top of our garden.

Suits me as the tree by the fence has ash die back and is definitely theirs.

I have two of my own.

It’s not strewn haphazardly. It’s lined up against the garage wall. It’s not like I’m collecting used cars and bikes. And they can only see it because they massacred the mature trees.

Maybe have a look at the deeds to determine exactly where the boundaries lie?

Wordsworse · 17/10/2023 18:50

I intend to.

Surely the oerson they employed just moved it to leave a tidy job/ finish ?

smooththecat · 17/10/2023 19:15

Time to take up crap sculpture

Mummyoflittledragon · 17/10/2023 19:15

I’m struggling to see where the boundary is tbh. Is the fence on the bottom right the boundary? I’m figuring not as they’ve cut the tree towards your side. And is the conifer on the top left of the pic the boundary?

Another vote for checking the deeds/you didn’t actually own the trees. I would assume they’re getting the property ready to sell, so they’ll be an owner living there and you’ll want to make dam sure you know where the line is if they start fencing and hedging it.

Wordsworse · 17/10/2023 19:18

The conifer you have circled is indeed mine, as are the laurels this side of it. The laurels had a row of conifers behind them but these have gone. They also wanted to take down the remaining conifer as ‘it’s brown on their side’ but I refused.

Looks like the trees could have been yours as they seem in line with everything else

aloris · 17/10/2023 19:31

Find the deed today if possible. For all you know, tomorrow morning their fence guy could show up bright and early to install a fence right on top of your garage.

Mikimoto · 17/10/2023 19:32

Paint a Hilda Ogden muriel on the side of your garage!

INeedAnotherName · 17/10/2023 19:33

After seeing your picture I'm starting to wonder if those trees had been planted on your side of the boundary. Get some string and tie it to the front and back fencing and see which side those stumps end up on.

smooththecat · 17/10/2023 19:34

Yes, important to reestablish the boundary visibly with a fence/wire or whatever. Could be a land grab.

It's none of their business! Wordsworse can keep whatever junk she likes down the side of her garage, as long as it's not an actual danger or health hazard.
