Neighbours chopped down their own trees but

they are now unhappy with the fact they can see the stuff stored down the side of my garage.

So they’ve moved all the stuff to the back of my garage. Without asking me.

I can now see their hideous 1970’s house whereas before I could see fir trees in which the Goldcrests gathered.

I’m toying with what I can put down the side of my garage. What about one of those blow up bendy balloon men they have outside some businesses? I wouldn’t be able to see it.

Where's the property line? Are those articles actually on your property or in the neighbours?

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 17/10/2023 17:12

Why is there no fence?

FloofCloud · 17/10/2023 17:14

Is that your garage? Looks like you're in their house taking the photo unless I've got my dopey head on (again)!

mrsm43s · 17/10/2023 17:14

Are you sure your garage wall isn't up to the boundary line, meaning your stuff is on their land? I'm assuming that's what they think - surely the trees would have been planted their side of the boundary? It's hard to tell really, though.

If I was them, I'd be putting a fence up (or growing new trees) to hide your garage and associated clutter.

It's not really something to fall out about.

Wordsworse · 17/10/2023 17:14

The chopped down trees were the ‘fence’. Big bushy pine trees.

Stuff is definitely on my land.

I did wonder if they were our trees but planted before we moved here 20 years ago.

There doesn't need to be a fence, the trees were likely acting as the boundary marker.

Why is there no fence?

Presumably because there were trees there before?

Wordsworse · 17/10/2023 17:16

We had the garage built having demolished the previous one. Definitely not up to the boundary line on purpose.

Photo taken from the road. Their house is below road level.

That's what I thought!

It might be an idea to put up a fence or they will start growing something up your garage wall.

Droppit · 17/10/2023 17:17

Do you know which side is responsible for maintaining the boundary? If it's them then they can put up a fence which will hide the stuff.

HydrangeaRose · 17/10/2023 17:18

I wonder if they are going to say the edge of your garage wall is the boundary ? So they moved your stuff off what they consider their garden . Get your deeds out and double check in anticipation.

Agree!

It can be sticks and string, it doesn't need to be an actual fence. But I'd probably establish the boundary now.

Definitely move your stuff back. I can't stand people who cut down trees. Maybe some people just hate nature.

I cried when we had to have the tree in our back garden removed. Unfortunately it was a massive fir tree that was too big for our tiny terraced garden (we didn't plant it) and was starting to damage the neighbour's garden.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 17/10/2023 17:20

I would paint a pine tree mural on your garage wall.

And also attach a trellis and grow something up it.

Wordsworse · 17/10/2023 17:20

They are lovely and I’m not falling out with them, I was just surprised that they unilaterally decided to move my stuff. When they’d created the problem.

They’ve swept up the leaves and have said they are going to plant a hedge where the tree stumps are.

@HydrangeaRose Thats what I’m wondering. Chap did get excited when I said I’d got all the original plans from before their house was built.

DisquietintheRanks · 17/10/2023 17:22

Well why don't you plant some big bushy conifers?

Wordsworse · 17/10/2023 17:23

I’ve got trillions of conifers. I can’t see that side of the garage except from the road when I’m walking the dog.

How do you know where the boundary line is? Why are they there such a short time?

Jasmin1971 · 17/10/2023 17:26

I feel your pain. Some people also don't know what to plant either 😢

Having seen the picture I think it's this - I'd get a fence up as soon as possible on where you know the property line actually is.

Wordsworse · 17/10/2023 17:31

Parents died. Daughter lives overseas and likes to come back for a few weeks a year and stay in the house. Son lives locally and seems happy with the arrangement. Bloody ridiculous in my opinion but suits me as we don’t have neighbours for the majority of the year. But what a waste of a house.

BalloonSlayer · 17/10/2023 17:33

Could you not just paint DON'T MOVE MY STUFF in foot high letters on the wall?

Mygosh · 17/10/2023 17:35

CF neighbours. I would keep an eye out for any movement on your buildings. This happened to my mum, neighbours chopped down a few large trees and her garden sank my half a metre. I thought she was exaggerating until I see it. Had a massive insurance claim.

2jacqi · 17/10/2023 17:35

I would keep a watch on that property line!!! nexy thing you know they will be hanging flower baskets on your garage wall!!!
