For being really annoyed that ASOS use evri?

I've had THREE parcels from Evri go missing since September.

Ordered a coat from ASOS and decided to sign up to their yearly next day delivery service for 9.99 as I needed the coat today so would have paid 7.99 for next day delivery anyways.

So paid that, and get an email from Evri this morning that they have my parcel and will let me know when it's out for delivery.

There's not a cat in hells chance it's going to show up today, so what exactly is the point of next day delivery?!

I'm leaving tomorrow morning and am stuck now with deciding whether to go and try and find a coat in the shops and risk missing a delivery that's not been updated or waiting in and possibly not having a coat all week.

(am going way and just got my winter coat out of storage yesterday and it's too small 😭) hence the emergency order.

I just wish companies would stop using them as they're SHIT and they're just making false promises with NDD with evri, it just won't happen!

You’re pushing it with any delivery company expecting Sunday delivery.

I didn't ask for it, it was advertised.

How exactly am I pushing it ordering a service that they offer for a more expensive price? Standard delivery is free, next day, Sunday delivery, 7.99.

Theyre charging for that higher service.

I agree. I had a delivery pass for m and m direct but since they switched to evri I just don't bother. The parcels always go missing or turn up months late... the last parcel that actually turned up from evri was car parts my husband ordered... they dropped them through the opened top window in my playroom which is next to the front door... narrowly avoiding a baby who was asleep in the bouncer under the window! Obviously I complained but all I got was a cursory apology back - what kind of idiot posts heavy parcels through a high window!!

That's like ordering business class plane tickets, being shown a standard seat and saying you're pushing it expecting to have more room on a crowded plane?! 😂

Yes I have the M&m direct pass too, that's one of the parcels that went missing!

Along with DS school shoes and his trainers.

I think you have to use your power as a consumer and just switch to a retailer that uses a better carrier.

LikeABanana · 15/10/2023 13:53

I don't know what you're saying there but the point is I paid £9.99 more for Sunday delivery specifically. So to say I'm pushing it to expect that to happen is ridiculous and makes zero sense.

I will, I didn't realise they used Evri.

I'm sure last time I ordered it wasn't them.

I wouldn't write it off just yet, I've ordered plenty with Evri and a few hours after they've received it I've had a delivery slot the same day.

I moved home in summer and every single Evri parcel I've had has gone missing or taken near a week to arrive.

I don't know if the new local depot is just a terrible one but I've had zero luck with them!

ThinWomansBrain · 15/10/2023 13:55

I can't remember which courier it was (possibly evri before the name change), but had a string of really bad/non deliveries a couple of years ago, and just complained (directly/via twitter/trust pilot/product reviews) that I would not use them again while they continued to sub contract to whichever company it was.

I appreciate that it was in covid, but it was constant saying missed delivery when I'd been home all day, or lies on the tracker that it had been delivered when it hadn't, that disappeared from the system and were replaced by a "back at the depot" type message.

margotrose · 15/10/2023 13:55

I've never had an issue with Evri.

I regularly get e-mails like the one you've had, then the parcel arrives a few hours later as planned.

YourNameGoesHere · 15/10/2023 13:56

It depends entirely on your local delivery people. Honestly I'd rather order from somewhere that uses Evri than somewhere that uses royal mail. I've never had any issues with Evri parcels but sadly cannot say the same for RM.

I would wait and see what happens it's only 2pm it makes no sense to go out on a Sunday this late to try and find a coat. If it's not delivered then obviously take it further but it's quite likely it will still be here today.

ChickHenLittle · 15/10/2023 13:56

It's very much dependent on where you live with Evri, I think. We recently moved and our last Evri courier was fantastic, regularly praised on local groups, people would buy him birthday gifts, etc., he was just a lovely guy and amazing at his job.
Our new one is less talkative but reliable and still gets the job done, so we're happy.

It's Yodel I'd despair at, feels very much hit or miss if you'll receive a Yodel parcel or it'll be delivered somewhere a few miles away, then there's the lottery of whether your item will be damaged or not.

Anyway, YANBU with your coat, OP. I would be dubious about a next day delivery service on a Sunday, but if it was advertised and confirmed you'd receive it today, you've been let down and should (I would hope) be entitled to a refund of your delivery charge.

JessicaFletcherMSW · 15/10/2023 13:56

Our local Evri courier is fantastic. It sounds like I need to appreciate them even more based on comments on this thread!

ThinWomansBrain · 15/10/2023 13:59

I think it does depend on the depot, or possibly the individual sub contractors for your area - at the same time I was tearing my hair out, one of my friends was getting great service from the same company.

I live in Central London, so different drivers pretty much every time, my friend consistently had the same delivery person.

Lizzt2007 · 15/10/2023 14:00

Evri don't guarantee next day delivery, they offer next working day delivery. Any company offering next day delivery shouldn't be use evri, that's on the company. They should use a courier that guarantees it. Be cross at asos using a courier that doesn't offer the service they are selling you.

tenpoundpombear · 15/10/2023 14:01

I just had a boohoo parcel delivered that I ordered yesterday, (they use Evri), Evri deliver 7 days a week to those who are sneering at the OP for expecting a parcel on a Sunday.

OP I think it's the depot/courier themselves as I've never had a single issue with mine personally but I used to use them for my small business and had LOADS of issues with missing parcels/late deliveries. Changing their name has not fooled anyone!

Have you had a time slot? I think if it hasn't arrived in the slot then I'd go and buy something from a shop.

SarahLKelp · 15/10/2023 14:04

If you pay for Sunday delivery why would it be ridiculous to expect that service to happen? It's not as if OP is entitled expecting something for nothing FGS.

I agree, Evri are a waste of time.

margotrose · 15/10/2023 14:05

I would be dubious about a next day delivery service on a Sunday

I've used loads of different companies for next day Sunday delivery and have always received my items. Normally it's a bit later than during the week (around 5pm as opposed to 2pm) but they always get here.

GrumpyInsomniac · 15/10/2023 14:05

As others have said, Evri varies wildly according to where you live. Where we are, the ones you want to avoid are Yodel, whereas I actively choose Evri because our local delivery team are excellent.

With that said, and given the issues ASOS have with returns and profitability, you would think someone there was at least doing an occasional geographic analysis of delivery times and using software to route delivery to a different carrier if the main one wasn’t up to standard.

mynameiscalypso · 15/10/2023 14:13

We get Evri deliveries regularly on a Sunday and ASOS claim that their next day delivery operates Monday - Sunday so I'd expect it later today myself. We do sometimes get quite delayed notifications on Evri so it will tell you it's out for delivery after you've already received it.

LikeABanana · 15/10/2023 14:20

I'll keep my fingers crossed then. They might pull through!

My order definitely says delivery today by 8pm, but Evri tracking doenst say its out for delivery today. Just that they have it at depot.

We never get a message saying our Evri parcels are out for delivery - they just appear!
