For being really annoyed that ASOS use evri?

I've had THREE parcels from Evri go missing since September.

Ordered a coat from ASOS and decided to sign up to their yearly next day delivery service for 9.99 as I needed the coat today so would have paid 7.99 for next day delivery anyways.

So paid that, and get an email from Evri this morning that they have my parcel and will let me know when it's out for delivery.

There's not a cat in hells chance it's going to show up today, so what exactly is the point of next day delivery?!

I'm leaving tomorrow morning and am stuck now with deciding whether to go and try and find a coat in the shops and risk missing a delivery that's not been updated or waiting in and possibly not having a coat all week.

(am going way and just got my winter coat out of storage yesterday and it's too small 😭) hence the emergency order.

I just wish companies would stop using them as they're SHIT and they're just making false promises with NDD with evri, it just won't happen!

Eh? That is someone representing their company so it absolutely is Evri putting the card through the door. It happens all the time and Evri don't seem to be effective at dealing with it, ergo they are tolerating it. Why? Because they don't have enough competition.

Yes this person works for Evri but it's not because they work for Evri that they are shit it's because they are a shit delivery driver. Evri has thousands of delivery drivers and as I said some will be shit and others amazing but it's not because he's working for Evri that he's shit. It's simply luck of the draw as to whether you get a good delivery driver or one who couldn't give a damn.

Never had any problems with Evri. Sometimes Royal Mail delivers them now as well.

I’ve had issues with ASOS themselves this year. 2 parcels returned and not acknowledged/refunded. It’s put me off them after ordering from there for years and years.

This usually means they have a backlog at the returns centre so the package may have arrived but hasn't yet been scanned.

When you contact customer services this means they can't see whether the returns courier has lost it or if it's still sitting waiting in the backlog at the return centre.

Either way they should give you a refund as soon as it's been +10 days from you sending the return back (and you have proof of postage).

Iwantamarshmallowman · 15/10/2023 18:45

yanbu I didn't renew my delivery pass because of this. in a year most of my deliveries took longer than next day and your lucky if they turn up at all

Or we could have a sector where companies that tolerate poor employee practices like this at large lose business, but they don't.

Any business that thinks it is okay for customers to put up with the "luck of the draw" should go out of business.

As a previous OP said, many companies that rely on courier services are terrible at managing these contracts and despite huge numbers of complaints also don't want to do anything about it either. I fully support people not using business that offer poor service.

wheresmymojo · 15/10/2023 18:51

TBF ASOS does have some good people behind the scenes managing the UK couriers however due to the profitability issues haven't been able to secure the funding needed for the system and data improvements they need.

usedtobeasizeten · 15/10/2023 18:56

No problem with Evri, our delivery guy is great! We get emails where we can track our parcel, so we know when it’s out for delivery etc. In answer to a PP, it was Royal Mail who put a card through the door when I was at home, he didn’t bother to ring the bell….bad employees everywhere!

ExtinguishTheLight · 15/10/2023 18:58

YourNameGoesHere · 15/10/2023 18:23

That's not Evri though that's your individual courier.

Like all companies some employees are shit others are amazing but it's not Evri putting the card through your door or not delivering parcels it's the person working for them.

Hopefully the OPs coat still turns up you've got a few hours yet.

I would be typing for half an hour if I listed all the problems I've had with Evri. And yes, it is the company. My delivery driver being a wally is just one issue. Do you think their customer service gave a shit about him doing that?

Sorry, I mean their 'customer service'; An automated message service designed for the sole purpose of telling customers to go fuck themselves.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 15/10/2023 18:59

I had the opposite argument with ASOS recently. They usually deliver with Evri but decided to send with Royal Mail. I'd ordered for NDD and got a RM notification saying they'd got it but the delivery date was later, and I was due to go on a 2 week holiday! I had massive aggro trying to return it after my holiday as I'd missed the cut off. They did eventually agree a refund for "goodwill", bit annoying as it was their cock up, not mine.

My heart sinks when I realise something is being delivered by RM.

Cluckycluck · 15/10/2023 19:01

Evri in our area is fantastic.

I have found with ASOS that if you order close to cut off time they tend to send with DPD rather than Evri so it might be worth a go in future. ASOS do change their cut off time willy nilly though so that in itself is a risk

SisterMichaelsHabit · 15/10/2023 18:05

Oh look another Evri bashing thread. 🙄 If I see another one this week I'll start wondering if ParcelForce is getting desperate!

YABU to order something and expect it on a Sunday. Everyone knows "next day delivery" doesn't apply to Sundays. Next day from Saturday is Monday and if you get it on a Sunday that's an incredible bonus.

That's just nonsense. Companies offer Sunday delivery (often at a higher cost). Most, if not all, delivery companies deliver on a Sunday now. I even see Royal Mail on a Sunday these days.

Anyone who knows next day delivery doesn't apply to a Sunday is incorrect.

glossypeach · 15/10/2023 19:07

I order from asos a LOT, and have primarily ordered from them for all clothing for years. Honestly I think it is dependent on time of year and if you have a decent delivery driver. I’ve had the same evri delivery driver for about a year now and I've had no problems and he goes above and beyond. Prior to him, I have another that would refuse to knock or claim they’ve delivered when they haven’t, or just deliver to the wrong house. Also, I get so many problems with evri regarding asos when there’s a big sale going on or busy times of the year - especially Christmas. Last Christmas was AWFUL with delays and losing my packages

Growlybear83 · 15/10/2023 19:20

Just to say that I received a parcel from Evri about ten minutes ago. I hadn't had a message to say that this one was out for delivery, so your parcel may still arrive, OP.

Womencanlift · 15/10/2023 19:31

I do think that companies should be made to disclose who they use for delivery before you commit to the order. I know some do but not all and then it’s that dreaded email when you find out it’s Evri

Personally I use collection services rather than home delivery as fed up waiting on all day and I can pick up on way home. Small express supermarkets and post offices that are within walking distance offer collection and some also have Amazon lockers. The Asda that is a bus ride away but still not far, can also receive parcels for collection from some places like In The Style

Next used Evri who left the parcels on my doorstep, no update on the app, no knock on the door. Just lucky that a neighbour saw them dump and run and knocked my door to let me know

LikeABanana · 15/10/2023 19:58

Well it said 7am to 8pm. So it didn't come :(

Oh well.

I do prefer the collection lockers too. Just much easier and more reliable.

I got the first one refunded after I noticed they hadn’t refunded me after two months despite emailing they had received it. The second time it happened the woman at the post office put the same labels on two parcels rather than separately scan the barcodes, so when ASOS received the return they only refunded one because they knew they could get away with it.

Liquorish · 15/10/2023 20:14

Sorry that reply was to @wheresmymojo

Liquorish · 15/10/2023 20:17

Sorry you didn’t receive your parcel, OP. I used to always receive parcels next day after I signed up but for the past year it has came the day after. Really annoying when it’s not what you signed up for.

LikeABanana · 15/10/2023 14:20

I'll keep my fingers crossed then. They might pull through!

My order definitely says delivery today by 8pm, but Evri tracking doenst say its out for delivery today. Just that they have it at depot.

some companies have it in the fine print that delivery begins when the original company dispatch the item etc or something along those lines so instead of next day its like day 3 etc

HerMammy · 15/10/2023 20:25

Sunday delivery is what your retailer promised, not Evri, Evri drivers work mon-sat and sunday is much smaller
cover as there's much less available pt drivers.
If the retailer does not get your parcel into Evri system on time it will not
be processed out to the local depot.
We have your parcel, means it's been logged into evri but that can be at the initial drop, it then still has to be processed and reach its final depot.
Evri handles in excess of 2 million items per day and has 97% delivery success rate.
Always bash Evri yet RM are by far the worst for service and reliability.

HerMammy · 15/10/2023 20:28

@FallingAutumnLeaf
Evri drivers have collection slots up until 12.30, so likely your driver is a late slot therefore doesn't set his ETAs not long before he gets to you.
You can use the Evri app to divert or nominate safe place for your parcel. 😊

Iwantamarshmallowman · 15/10/2023 20:33

Where are you going OP ? can u buy a coat en-route or when you arrive?

LadyChilli · 15/10/2023 20:41

Boohoo use Evri too, I had exactly the same experience recently paying more for the unlimited next day delivery and my package arriving on day 3. I notice when companies use Evri I often get an email from the original selling business (various ones recently) saying my order has been dispatched, with an Evri tracking link. Click the link and it says they are waiting for my parcel. Then a couple of days later I'll get an Evri email saying "We have your parcel" and perhaps 2 hours later it will get delivered. So they clearly lie at some point in the process.

GrumpyInsomniac · 15/10/2023 21:47

@wheresmymojo wow. Actually quite depressing how little of a handle they have on that stuff. For an online pure play this stuff should have been nailed years back.

HerMammy · 16/10/2023 10:12

@LadyChilli
That update of 'your parcel is dispatched' is the retailers way of pushing responsibility into evri, dispatched can often mean it's not even left boohoo or whoever just that they've booked the service. When you get an out for delivery update that is a local courier is on way with your parcel, u til you receive that your parcel is not out for delivery.

LikeABanana · 16/10/2023 11:56

Still not moved or out for delivery today.
It's lost. I know it
