For being really annoyed that ASOS use evri?

LikeABanana · 15/10/2023 13:41

I've had THREE parcels from Evri go missing since September.

Ordered a coat from ASOS and decided to sign up to their yearly next day delivery service for 9.99 as I needed the coat today so would have paid 7.99 for next day delivery anyways.

So paid that, and get an email from Evri this morning that they have my parcel and will let me know when it's out for delivery.

There's not a cat in hells chance it's going to show up today, so what exactly is the point of next day delivery?!

I'm leaving tomorrow morning and am stuck now with deciding whether to go and try and find a coat in the shops and risk missing a delivery that's not been updated or waiting in and possibly not having a coat all week.

(am going way and just got my winter coat out of storage yesterday and it's too small 😭) hence the emergency order.

I just wish companies would stop using them as they're SHIT and they're just making false promises with NDD with evri, it just won't happen!

Never have a problem with Evri as well, there’s still loads of time for it to come

phoenixrosehere · 15/10/2023 14:49

Definitely location dependent.

Our Evri delivery driver is usually the same guy, is polite and lovely and I get consistent email updates with time frames. We live on a large new build estate outside of town so there’s always deliveries all hours of the day. It also helps we live off the main road and a bus route so no driver can say we’re hard to find.

Fifireee · 15/10/2023 14:52

My Evri man Fabian is fabulous.

Catopia · 15/10/2023 14:59

I've had two Evri parcels go walkabouts recently and now get nervous when it's Evri.

purplemunkey · 15/10/2023 15:01

It really does depend on where you live. Our local Evri courier used to be great. Not sure what happened to him but since someone else took over his patch I get no updates and stuff left on my doorstep all the time. I’ve had several instances where they’ve taken a picture of a completely different parcel half way through my letterbox (one that would actually fit) as ‘proof’ of delivery, only to find the actual parcel sitting on the doorstep for anyone to grab when I get home from work.

Unlike other couriers, there’s no option so select another delivery day if you know you’re not going to be in.

I’ve complained directly to the retailers when I’ve had issues, hoping that if enough people do this the retailers will either switch providers or Evri will have to do better to keep their contracts.

Hope it turns up OP.

Liquorish · 15/10/2023 15:05

Never had any problems with Evri. Sometimes Royal Mail delivers them now as well.

I’ve had issues with ASOS themselves this year. 2 parcels returned and not acknowledged/refunded. It’s put me off them after ordering from there for years and years.

FallingAutumnLeaf · 15/10/2023 15:12

Round here, Evri are awesome. The bloke who delivers to our house is fabulous.
My only issue is don't get the "we're delivering your parcel between 1 and 3" until about 1.15.
So I guesson delivery day from when they collect, and leave the bottom bolt of the side gate unlocked. Parcel left in sheltered place if noone is in.

PinkPondQueen · 15/10/2023 15:25

Clearly I need to get a life as I keep refreshing this hoping OP will confirm that her coat has arrived! Fingers crossed for you. Our Evri driver is amazing I feel very fortunate.

Sandpitnotmoshpit · 15/10/2023 15:30

Our local person who does the Evri delivery is amazing - its actually a plus for me if a company use them. Post office on the other hand the stuff never turns up and yodel just leave it on the doorstop where things get stolen. I think a lot depends on your local service. DHL is the absolute worst for us.

LikeABanana · 15/10/2023 17:40

No change to Evri tracking. Really don't think it's coming.
Bloody Evri

It depends entirely on your local delivery people. Honestly I'd rather order from somewhere that uses Evri than somewhere that uses royal mail. I've never had any issues with Evri parcels but sadly cannot say the same for RM.

I would wait and see what happens it's only 2pm it makes no sense to go out on a Sunday this late to try and find a coat. If it's not delivered then obviously take it further but it's quite likely it will still be here today.

Edited

Opposite here. I actively avoid companies who use Evri in favour of RM ones. You can pick a day, divert to the parcel office, generally get customer service. Evri tell you when they’ll deliver without any choice and 9 times out of 10 you can’t select a drop shop. When you can, they leave it sitting at the depot for weeks when the drop shop is only half a mile from my house.

Badbadbunny · 15/10/2023 17:45

Evri tracking isn't brilliant but we've had parcels delivered by Evri on a Sunday when we've not been expecting them, i.e. not shown on tracker as out for delivery and no text/email with the approx delivery time. Honestly, Evri are just as good as any other courier around here - can't remember the last misdelivered or lost item from them - we have far more problems with Royal Mail.

Our local Evri courier is fantastic. It sounds like I need to appreciate them even more based on comments on this thread!

It’s not the courier. It’s the company. No communication. They just announce when they’ll deliver. They offer limited options if you can’t be there and mostly ignore your choices anyway. That’s all depot stuff, not courier. They are worse than useless.

SisterMichaelsHabit · 15/10/2023 18:05

Oh look another Evri bashing thread. 🙄 If I see another one this week I'll start wondering if ParcelForce is getting desperate!

YABU to order something and expect it on a Sunday. Everyone knows "next day delivery" doesn't apply to Sundays. Next day from Saturday is Monday and if you get it on a Sunday that's an incredible bonus.

SarahLKelp · 15/10/2023 18:11

@SisterMichaelsHabit that's not true ASOS list Sunday delivery as a paid for option.

Eleganz · 15/10/2023 18:17

There is too little competition in courier services with companies that are too large. It means they have massively inconsistent levels of service and can afford not to give a shit when they let people down.

Oysterbabe · 15/10/2023 18:19

I've never had an issue with evri and as an added bonus our usual evri delivery guy is really hot 😆

I paid for Sunday delivery. It's an option.

All my emails say next day delivery, Sunday 15th

Evri are bullshit. I've discovered mine putting a card through my door saying I wasn't in. He had a nasty shock when I opened the door holding the card. I then demonstrated how the doorbell worked to him.

We tend to glare at each other when he delivers something now but at least he uses the doorbell.

sanityisamyth · 15/10/2023 18:22

I ordered some revision guides for DS from CGP. Didn't arrive one the day they should have so checked the tracker on FedEx. Said tried to deliver, but I didn't have a call or a card. Left it. Same again the next day and the day after. Then said can't deliver as no response. I work so out of the house from 8-6. I had a day off on Friday so asked CGP to ask fedex to deliver on Friday and still no sign. Waited in all day for nothing. CGP e-mail me to say the books were back with them. Asked CGP for a full refund (they were excellent) and then bought the same books from Amazon for cheaper, and they were here the following day.

That's not Evri though that's your individual courier.

Like all companies some employees are shit others are amazing but it's not Evri putting the card through your door or not delivering parcels it's the person working for them.

Hopefully the OPs coat still turns up you've got a few hours yet.

Question111 · 15/10/2023 18:25

In fairness I think it depends on your delivery driver. I order (far too much) and my Evri man is absolutely lovely. I've never had a parcel go missing.

Growlybear83 · 15/10/2023 18:30

I think it depends so much on your local courier. We've got the most wonderful Evri courier who is really reliable, hides parcels really well if we're out, and is just a real sweetie. His two predecessors were just as good. I've dreaded having anything sent by Yodel for many years, until re got a new regular driver who seems fine. From my experience, by far the worst delivery company is DPD, who seem unable to ring my doorbell or use the knocker and prop my meat parcels up against the front door in full view of the road. I have spent hours on the phone complaining to their customer services over the last year. I constantly tell them that my immediate area has a problem with people following couriers around and stealing parcels but it never makes any difference. Unfortunately there isn't an alternative meat supplier that I can use who don't use Dpd. I also find UPS to be dreadful too.

Eh? That is someone representing their company so it absolutely is Evri putting the card through the door. It happens all the time and Evri don't seem to be effective at dealing with it, ergo they are tolerating it. Why? Because they don't have enough competition.

wheresmymojo · 15/10/2023 18:40

GrumpyInsomniac · 15/10/2023 14:05

As others have said, Evri varies wildly according to where you live. Where we are, the ones you want to avoid are Yodel, whereas I actively choose Evri because our local delivery team are excellent.

With that said, and given the issues ASOS have with returns and profitability, you would think someone there was at least doing an occasional geographic analysis of delivery times and using software to route delivery to a different carrier if the main one wasn’t up to standard.

Have worked at ASOS in this area.

It is creaking behind the scenes. They don't even have data on how often their couriers do or do not meet delivery promises.

They have to rely on the couriers own reporting to them, which obviously can't be trusted...

Also, quite often it's actually things leaving the ASOS warehouse late...

If you only just got the email saying EVRI have your parcel, the chance is that was triggered by them picking it up at the ASOS warehouse and that would be an ASOS fault...

If the email says EVRI have had a problem, then the issue is with EVRI.
