To think its not okay to great gazans as israel has been

Gaza has no food, no electricity and no water. On top of that they are being bombarded constantly
Israel has bombed the only escape route for refugees via Egypt, there is no way out
israel continues the blockage by air, land and sea - no aid can get in, no one can get out.
israel has said they will obliterate Gaza.

this is unprecedented, no matter what happens with governments or wars, you have refugee camps…safe havens…(often difficult) access to water - how are we even debating that this is acceptable? Am i the only person thinking this is the human race at its absolute worst? Its heartbreaking to watch, literally noone is doing anything - we are observing a genocide.

@Wonkasworld Goodness 10m divided by 2m = £5 per person in Gaza. That will really help.

Goodness, as a UK tax payer, I think it's very generous.

ketchup07070 · 26/10/2023 13:27

@Wonkasworld I don't think you know the meaning of generosity. Many people donate at least that to their local food bank every week. Not you, I suppose.

Other countries are helping, it's not just us paying for the entire population of Palestine.

Yes, we could give more, in addition to the aid which we already give. Nothing to turn one's nose up at though.

What on earth has that got to do with the conflict. People are saying it's wrong the UK are standing by Israel and I said the UK is sending money. Now, its a nothing amount. Your comment is just strange.

ketchup07070 · 26/10/2023 13:41

@Wonkasworld The UK government has not condemned the withholding of water and all that is essential for life to the entire population of Gaza. Who, in their right mind, thinks it's OK to deny a drink of water to children? So, while an extra fiver per person is better than nothing, it is not even close to what decent human beings should be doing.

Not strange.

The UK has sent a relatively small amount of aid (which can’t get in) to Gaza.

On the other hand they’re selling arms by the bucketload to ISRAEL and Sunak has offered military assistance to Israel.

AGovernmentOfLawsAndNotMen · 26/10/2023 14:06

Aid is being withheld. Not enough is getting through and Israel is blocking what is getting through to all of Gaza.
Here’s a recent piece in the news.
The UK is complicit. They and the US blocked Russias proposal yesterday for a ceasefire.

Maybe the UK and US are looking at the bigger picture. Hamas want global superiority.

ketchup07070 · 26/10/2023 14:54

@Wonkasworld I'm afraid that whatever picture they are looking at, it may be leading us all to further atrocities, increased division, an increase in migration and refugee crisis and ending in WW3. Sorry if I was crabby in my response, I feel very upset by the whole situation, but I realise you were making a mild comment about the UK sending aid.

Coughingdodger · 26/10/2023 15:16

I know several Palestinians and many more Muslims. They are colleagues, neighbours, parents at the school gate. Some strictly religious (I don’t know those so well socially but I do as colleagues), most very moderate. They are no more and no less likely than other colleagues to be educated, pleasant, funny, helpful and kind.

How sad and paranoid to live such a sheltered life that you think every Muslim in the world wants to join Hamas.

Coughingdodger · 26/10/2023 15:16

The above is to @Wonkasworld

Sorry I was crabby too. We all feel and want the same.

Yes, because I really said that.

Of course Hamas wants to infiltrate the west. I'm not sure why you are struggling to understand that. Even the Son of Hamas says so, but you clearly know more.

Yes because I talk to real people. I don’t hide away with my paranoid hate-filled head up my arse.

ChickHenLittle · 26/10/2023 17:23

I took @Wonkasworld's post to mean Hamas (the terrorist group) want global superiority, not that all Muslims would support them. I've seen more islamophobia on this topic than I'd like to admit, but it has never come from her.
We do have differing opinions on a few aspects of this conflict, but @Wonkasworld is genuinely concerned for civilians on both 'sides', we've had discussions, including other posters, around the appalling lack of aid and how horrific the blockades are, stopping it getting to Gaza.

You are spot on, thank you x

I keep hearing and reading about how Jews are feeling at the moment but it's pretty shit to be Muslim these days as 1) apparently Muslim lives don't matter and 2) it is assumed you support a bunch of fanatics who would happily deprive of your religious freedom and choices. Muslim fundamentalists are a threat to Muslims too.

Absolutely. Palestinians never owned the land and have no right to it. Gazans (including the 50% who are children) all voted for Hamas and if they don’t hand Hamas over they deserve to be killed. Gazans being killed in their thousands are collateral. Etc etc

Who has said that? Nobody, on this thread. Not sure what you are aiming to achieve, as with the poster you are conversing with. I do find it strange that both of you are conjuring up hatred, though. In fact, there have been quite a few people showing humility. There are some, who don't want to engage in debate but to just cause aggro.

I’m not interested in scoring points in a debate. What I want is for the IDF to stop slaughtering thousands of innocent people in Gaza.
