To think its not okay to great gazans as israel has been

Gaza has no food, no electricity and no water. On top of that they are being bombarded constantly
Israel has bombed the only escape route for refugees via Egypt, there is no way out
israel continues the blockage by air, land and sea - no aid can get in, no one can get out.
israel has said they will obliterate Gaza.

this is unprecedented, no matter what happens with governments or wars, you have refugee camps…safe havens…(often difficult) access to water - how are we even debating that this is acceptable? Am i the only person thinking this is the human race at its absolute worst? Its heartbreaking to watch, literally noone is doing anything - we are observing a genocide.

There are always going to be people that defend Israel's war crimes because for them loyalty to the Jewish state will come above any other principle they hold, but I don't think many ordinary people genuinely believe half the propaganda that comes out of Israel anymore including this stuff about Hamas allegedly bombing the hospital. Israel's track record speaks for itself sadly.

DownNative · 18/10/2023 09:02

Hamas has a track record of using civilians as human shields and abusing the protection given to civilian infrastructure too. Various organisations have said Hamas have used children as soldiers too.

Same for Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

In keeping with Hamas' Use Of Human Shields, their leadership has been telling Palestinians to come out to confront the Israeli Defence Force. Irresponsible of Hamas, but exactly their MO for Human Shields In Gaza.

Oh, Hamas is blaming the US too. Hamas also blamed Gazan civilians for the invasion and murder of Israelis on 7th October 2023 as well! 🤦‍♂️

Hamas will do anything to deflect blame.

It's hardly out of realms of probability that PIJ had a rocket misfire that hit the hospital.

‘No, Hamas put up road blocks to prevent civilians moving from North Gaza to South Gaza. ‘

I’m stunned that people actually believe this kind of nonsense coming out of the Israeli propaganda machine.
I believe the UN who say it’s impossible to move that many people in such a short time - because anyone with half a brain can see that’s true, even without the fact that some of the roads are impassable.
people who fled south as instructed were then killed in attacks from Israel on the south. There is no where to go.

50% of the population is under 18. The slaughter of the Gazan civilian population needs to stop before this escalated into a war in the whole region.

Now a hospital has been bombed too. Where will it stop? And yes, I know Israel says it wasn’t them, but they would wouldn’t they?

His profile states he is a journalist, and looking at the flags and posts on his profile, one with a heavy bias towards Israel.
I'll wait for actual verification of who is to blame.

Hamas have a track record of using civilians and civilian infrastructure as shields against Israeli Defence Force.

Hamas has a track record of urging civilians to go against the Israeli Defence Force from which Hamas can attack.

Hamas have a track record of telling civilians to stay exactly where they which then dress up as "keep your land" but whose actual aim is to use them as human shields.

Hamas have a track record of blaming Gazan civilians as they did in regards to 7th October 2023, according to Hussein Aboubakr Mansour an Egyptian researcher of Jewish and Middle Eastern history and Hebrew literature and the Director of the Endowment for Middle East Truth's Program for Emerging Democratic Voices from the Middle East.

Like all terrorist groups, they always have a ready scapegoat - first, they blame Israel. Second, Hamas also blames the USA. For groups like this, its always someone else's fault!

Like all terrorist groups, Hamas have a track record of lying for propagandistic purposes.

Yet a fair few on here are willing to believe what Hamas say?

Wow. 🤦‍♂️

None of it is from reputable, verified sources though. I'd say the same if it was a thread saying it came from the IDF.

People were only too happy to take just the word of Hamas that the IDF blew up the hospital though. No evidence, just words of a terrorist group.
Israelis show evidence and STILL people don't believe them.

It's fair enough waiting for independent verification which isn't always possible.

But bear in mind too that having a bias doesn't necessarily mean someone is wrong.

Exactly. Lots of condemnation upthread about misinformation being spread - but apparently only if it's about the Israeli government. It's perfectly okay to share unverified sources if it's to absolve them.

It may have been the IDF and it may have been Hamas, none of us know. No source we can actually trust has confirmed a thing.

I don't support Hamas, I don't support the Israeli government. I won't, however, assume it was either until it's confirmed who is responsible.

Don't get me wrong, I think Hamas and the Israeli government are both awful beyond words, the only people whose side I'm on are the civilians, especially Gazans at the moment due to the siege.

Be careful: we are told you can't say anything about Israel's tactics, without being a caused of antisemitism. Similarly, its starting to become clear, you can't criticise the terrorists. That gets swept away with the yes, buts..

I know, but I'll wait and see rather than believe a journalist on Twitter.

It's just odd that there was a big to-do upthread about sharing unconfirmed sources and that MNHQ should pull the thread due to it, but now it's okay.

There was a touching scene of Biden and Israeli PM embracing. I'm sure some will have an issue with that.

ChickHenLittle · 18/10/2023 10:05

"The other team.". Jeez. People are dying in Gaza due to Netanyahu but yes, let's reassure him.
I have looked but they're still waiting on confirmation according to reports?

I'm disappointed, I thought the visit was more than a misguided show of support, he claimed he was going to try to reason with Netanyahu to agree to Egypt letting aid through.

Since I included ALL of it, I'm not suggesting BBC Verify have confirmed it. Especially since the part between red lines states there's no overall consensus. 🤷‍♂️

ChickHenLittle · 18/10/2023 10:13

Fair enough, I don't see the need for the red lines, as it's all just considering what could have happened?

Whoever did it, I can't believe the people of Gaza are just left to suffer. Well I van believe it, unfortunately, but all we've had so far is one world leader visiting the man responsible for a siege and resulting humanitarian crisis. Someone in power needs to condemn Hamas and the Israeli government. I've donated to aid charities actually on the ground in Gaza but even then, their supplies and capabilities are severely limited.

Yes, very telling isn't it? Last night showed how some had been waiting for concrete evidence to have a go at Israel. Those same people aren't interested in proof though. Understandably, the other thread, where the OP wasn't seen again, got pulled. Then the longer thread after that.

His actual wording was far too wishy washy to considered anything close to confirmation. Clearly nobody knows at this point and likely nobody will ever fess up.
