To be against the attacks on Palestine

1000 replies

Threemangoes · 11/10/2023 13:42

What happened in Israel was horrific by Hamas. But why are Palestinians being restricted, bombed, dehydrated and deprived of basic needs because of terrorists? Why is the world supporting Israel commiting war crimes?

Hamas are sick fucks to kill innocents. But it's like history repeating again. 9/11 caused millions of Iraqis killed for what?

Have we learned nothing from the past???

seriously, it's completely political. and not between israel and palestine (or what's left of it). genocide going on under our noses and no one helping. again.

NotTerfNorCis · 11/10/2023 17:39

326 children the Guardian says, Lindtislife.

I would wager that this BBC video of a journalist in Gaza is palatable to viewers and gaining traction between it shows a light-skinned attractive woman who could conceivably pass as ‘one of us’. We don’t identify with the vicious brown people. People don’t want to see them suffering and don’t care.

Fuck me there’s so much ignorance around. Some deaths are absolutely mourned more than others, even though innocents dying on both sides is horrific.

@Threemangoes

"Egypt has been threatened with aids/trucks getting bombed if tried to help"

++++

Nah - Egypt has severely restricted access at the Rafah border crossing for over ten years because terrorists from Gaza were using it as a base to attack Egyptians in Northern Sinai.

Sound familiar?

@Threemangoes - do you similarly condemn Egypt for this?

Optionyougot · 11/10/2023 17:46

An apartheid between a group of people who want to live peacefully and a group who want to murder them? Yep, I 100% support that
This is disgusting. Apartheid is a crime and anyone who supports that is uninformed at best.

worth remembering that 20% of Israel's residents are Palestinians who enjoy the exact same rights as everyone else
Covered by another poster above but this is isn't the reality for a Palestinian living in Israel. Excepting Jerusalem where arabs are denied citizenship status, structural discrimination creates barriers in education, economic and real estate.

Do you mean the babies or children being deliberately used as shields to cover Hamas' operations
No, I think the poster is referring to the children used as human shields by the IDF, and possibly the Israeli soldiers convicted of this crime.

I'm not sure what war crimes you refer to - the rapes, kidnappings, torturings, murders etc were your side
Educate yourself then. The UN hasn't published 45 resolutions on the actions of Israel against Palestinian in the last ten years alone for the good of its health.

The actions of Hamas are horrendous. The daily existence of innocent Palestinians in the Gaza strip is horrendous. One does not justify the other and neither ever support an argument for apartheid.

Spambod · 11/10/2023 17:50

Threemangoes · 11/10/2023 17:07

Before you go about liberating Gazans from Hamas.. Have you protested to give Palestinians equal rights and end their occupation?

Because rather than going for the disease you are looking at fixing the side effects.

You want me to protest against hamas to end their occupation of Gaza and to give the garzans equal rights? Like women and gay people in Gaza. Or are you talking about the West Bank citizens who have a different Palestinian authority/ government. Israelis left the Gaza Strip in 2005. Do you mean ethnic arabs and those who identify as palestinian who are Israeli citizens (about 20%)who have equal rights or those who claim Palestinian ethnicity worldwide in different countries.

NotTerfNorCis · 11/10/2023 17:54

Israel created a monstrous situation and a monstrous group has grown out of it (Hamas). Everything is toxic and soured. Mass targeting of Palestinian civilians, which is of course in breach of international law, will only feed the monster.

duchiebun · 11/10/2023 17:54

it really made my blood run cold when all the world leaders came out saying ‘Israel has the right to defend itself’

Because every country does this, you can’t not react really

mummymeister · 11/10/2023 17:55

Just heard an expert on the BBC saying that as late as 2019 the current israeli prime minister was giving funds to hamas in their fight against the PLO. This can be verified with documents etc that he referred to. he said he hopes when there is an enquiry that this comes out as it is undoubtedly the funding that was used for the weapons that are now targetting the israeli people.

My issue really boils down to two wrongs dont make a right. they never have and they never will. fight in your territory fair enough. invade the other side just as they invaded yours no because thats just doing what they did.

there is it seems absolutely no solution to this. the israelis build huge dam projects and take more than their fair share of water, (go and see the jordan if you dont believe me) they have hemmed in the gaza strip making them dependent on israel, there are constant resources and land grabs. nothing excuses the behaviour of Hamas but nothing can excuse excessive retaliation either.

someone needs to have the balls to come up with a solution and then impose it on both sides with sanctions and cutting off funding if they dont. but the guilt over the holocaust will means that this will not happen in my lifetime.

I just can’t get my head around people trying to justify this online, people can be so evil. The amount of misinformation and outright lies being spread online to fuel hate, garner support and attempt to justify the treatment of Palestinians is terrifying. The most despicable are the ones who use horrific stories of what has happened to Palestinian women and children at the hands of Israeli soldiers. Sickening.

there are theories gaining traction that this was what israel wants to detract from home politics with a war and also to justify wiping out the palestinians in gaza. nothing would surprise me in this conflict.

Yeah like the twin towers conspiracy 🙄

FOJN · 11/10/2023 18:00

Yes, if Hamas chose to build their HQ in a school, I do indeed 100% support blowing up that school.

Hammas need to be got rid of, their crimes at the weekend were abhorrent but I really don't think you have the moral high ground if you have no qualms at all about a school being bombed. I can share your sentiments about Hammas and still feel killing children is unacceptable.

I’m not seeking to challenge, I can’t access the NYT article but Sky News reported half an hour ago that no Israeli officials have yet confirmed the claim.

1dayatatime · 11/10/2023 18:01

Ahh all very predictable- these threads do seem to follow the Chinese Communist Party / Russian playbook of:

Step 1 - deny it for example the Hamas spokesman yesterday denying any civilian casualties or give me a link or proof to execution of children, it's all lies by the IDF etc then
Step 2 - whataboutery - ahh but what about all those Palestinian civilians killed by Israel over the years or it's the fault of colonialism under the British
Step 3 - conspiracy theories. The Israeli government knew about it and deliberately did nothing. It's all a ploy by the US Government to get their hands on somebody's oil etc etc
Step 4 - once the conspiracy theories have planted a seed of doubt then go back to denial.

No, not like this at all. academics who study the region. because fundamentally, they know how skilled the israeli security services are and they cannot get their heads around how they did not know about this attack unless this was the case. They are supposed to be the most sophisticated in the world at this and you are telling me that they just didnt know?

mummymeister · 11/10/2023 18:05

@1dayatatime absolutely disagree with your post. I do not deny that any of the atrocities on either side are happening they quite clearly are. 2 wrongs dont make a right using one atrocity to justify another is abhorrent. How did the israeli secret service so spectacularly fuck up then?

An Egyptian official stated a few days ago that he warned of a Hamas attack 10 days before it happened and Netayahu was nonplussed, which surprised him.

I posted that on here a few days ago and was called an antisemite for some reason?

The US has now confirmed it, but I’m not sure if me posting it will make me an antisemite now?

Egypt warned Israel days before Hamas struck - US - BBC News

But PM Benjamin Netanyahu describes any claim Israel received a specific warning as "totally fake news".

I think if French terrorists came and murdered babies and elderly people in the uk it’s highly unlikely we’d respond by saying ‘oh we must make sure French utilities and services aren’t disrupted by our retaliation’.
Its a horrendous situation and the Israeli government are by no means blameless but after this massacre I think they had no viable option but to retaliate. To do nothing would pave the way for more massacres.

Are you joking? There is difference between utilities being disrupted and damaged due to war, versus deliberately shutting utilities off - which we wouldn't be able to do as France is it's own country.
Israel has micromanaged and controlled Palestinians for decades. Dehumanised them and treated them appallingly. Much if which doesn't get reported in the media. They often block aid to Gaza and torment and kill many many people. Including children.
I am by no means supporting Hamas but legs not forget the many war crimes over the years Israel has committed- verified by the UN. They get away with it too.
This is no less than an apartheid state and the largest open prison in the world.
