To be against the attacks on Palestine

Threemangoes · 11/10/2023 13:42

What happened in Israel was horrific by Hamas. But why are Palestinians being restricted, bombed, dehydrated and deprived of basic needs because of terrorists? Why is the world supporting Israel commiting war crimes?

Hamas are sick fucks to kill innocents. But it's like history repeating again. 9/11 caused millions of Iraqis killed for what?

Have we learned nothing from the past???

@1dayatatime

You talk about misinformation? Saying the Rafah is open isn’t at all misleading is it…

sadmumuk · 13/10/2023 10:30

So you’re denying the power imbalance and the cruelty of Israelis over the last few decades. Saw a man who lost his children and family in the bombings. What’s gonna stop from getting revenge?

Tessofthebicyles · 13/10/2023 10:30

@Green777 So what's your definition of a 'war crime?

Would murdering unarmed civilians in their beds qualify? Raping and abducting peaceful citizens? Well in that case welcome to Israel's world at Kfar Aza Kibbutz.

Green777 · 13/10/2023 10:31

@1dayatatime @Tessofthebicyles

”The Palestinian civilians deserve it”

Is their underlying message of everything they write. You may have powerful western governments on your side condoning breaking international laws and committing war crimes to their advantage but not the majority of sane people.

Tessofthebicyles · 13/10/2023 10:34

@Green777 You still haven't defined what you mean by a 'war crime'.

Oh it's open:

Although as I always like to keep to the facts I did point out that Egypt has restricted movements by adult males to stop terrorists moving to Northern Sinai.

How should the Israeli government deal with Hamas and how should Israel respond to the massacre? What would be a better way? Please don't reply with what they shouldn't do as that is not my question, what should Israel and the Palestinians do to establish peace and live with each other in the middle east?

Edited

You want everyone to come out and condemn the Palestinian and say they deserve this. You will wait a very long time because most people's sympathy is with the victims on both sides not the Israeli Government

Green777 · 13/10/2023 10:35

@Tessofthebicyles

Yes of course! As committed by insane terrorists Hamas. Did you assume I’d condone them or excuse them as you do Israel?

The majority of people that are of sound mind hate atrocities on civilians of both sides.

One however is a powerful democracy with a history of racism, oppression and colonialism despite what happened to them in the holocaust.

That will now make women and children die a tragic death in the name of revenge.

Green777 · 13/10/2023 10:36

@1dayatatime Again, is it REALLY ‘open’? It was strategically bombed by Israel.

Misleading.

Maybe the same thing that's stopped so many other humans throughout all of history from taking revenge? Humans have more than one emotion you know, more than one motivation. Even non-white people, shockingly enough.

rinbaud · 13/10/2023 10:37

This person is repeating disinformation about lighting up Walthamstow Town Hall in Palestinian colours when it turns out it's from Black History Month some time ago. He has had a lot of folks pointing it out but refuses to back down. There is a lot of disinformation being pushed out from both sides.

Your message implies you are a sane person with a sane outlook. Ignoring the disablist language, how do you suggest Israelis and Palestinians can peacefully coexist in the middle east? Both groups have equal human rights, how do we get from this mess and conflict to a situation where Israelis and Palestinians can live together or side by side in a peaceful and prosperous way?

What should Israel do in response to the massacres? What would you do next if you were in Benjamin Netanyahu's shoes?

1dayatatime · 13/10/2023 10:39

@Green777

At no point did I ever quote that so please stop making false quotes.

Secondly my underlying motivation is that in a heated and emotional debate it is essential to keep to the facts and point out attempts at misinformation which seek to influence those that are new to this topic.

Green777 · 13/10/2023 10:39

@Tessofthebicyles

A quick search on the matter and you’ll find that withholding water, food and fuel, bombing hospitals schools civilians, permanently damaging civilian infrastructure and telling people they have 24 hours to move in such conditions being highlighted by the UN as breaking international laws and are war crimes. But you knew that didn’t you?

If there's a 'but' in your condemnation of wanton violence from whatever side, it's not a condemnation but tacit support.

Judging from your arguments and accusations that’s clearly not your intention.

You are trying your hardest to mislead people. You have subtly implied (or tried to) that they deserve it.

If that is your definition then Germany committed War Crimes against UK and vice-versa during WW2.
Is that what you are saying ?

Green777 · 13/10/2023 10:44

@Tessofthebicyles

After Israel told Civilians to make their way to the Rafah border then cynically bombed it, yes some governments are trying their hardest to convince Egypt to open it TO CIVILIANS and to aid. They’ve had to do this because Israel bombed it. After telling civilians to go there.

Your fact of it being ‘open’ is deliberately misleading.

You’ll never convince anyone with these absolutely insane comparisons and misinformation.

Again, take it up with the UN?

If Israel want to continue to be know as the only democracy in the Middle East they should as such. Palestinian don't deserve it. Israel can collect the Hamas terrorist one at a time.

I know you didn't direct this to me but I'd rather the Israeli government were more surgical and proportionate in its response. They can't do nothing, and Hamas will keep going unless they are broken at their core.
Ideally, allowing for UN resources and aid to be funnelled through, including replacements for the UN workers murdered in Gaza. I'd like to see movement for the injured and children to the west bank or south prior to further military action, with an achievable timescale and red cross/red crescent/UN support.
Then by all means I'd like to see a concentrated effort to bomb the Hamas tunnels, for Hamas leadership currently sitting happily in other countries charged with war crimes, for Qatar to face sanctions unless he is given up.
I'd like to see stricter adherence to international humanitarian law, in as much as greater care taken to avoid bombing hospitals etc.
I'd like to see the the Arab Peace Initiative revisited as well.
It's not ideal and definitely optimistic to the point of fantasy but to my mind would decrease the number of civilian casualties, set up more infrastructure for a more thorough attack on Hamas and recognise the role of other Arab nations.

1dayatatime · 13/10/2023 10:47

@Green777

A quick search on the matter and you’ll find that withholding electricity and fuel in order to reduce the military capacity of Hamas to wage war even if this impacts the civilian population does not break international laws and is not a war crime.

To do so to just target the civilian population with no military objective is indeed outlawed and a war crime.

Withholding food and water is much more difficult to argue from a military objective so would most likely count as a war crime.

But you knew that didn’t you?
