To be against the attacks on Palestine

1000 replies

Threemangoes · 11/10/2023 13:42

What happened in Israel was horrific by Hamas. But why are Palestinians being restricted, bombed, dehydrated and deprived of basic needs because of terrorists? Why is the world supporting Israel commiting war crimes?

Hamas are sick fucks to kill innocents. But it's like history repeating again. 9/11 caused millions of Iraqis killed for what?

Have we learned nothing from the past???

The Ukrainians could always surrender. Why won't they?

fuchsteufelswild · 12/10/2023 23:28

I had no idea Ukraine attacked Russia. Thanks for clearing that up.

Fucking hell!

You've jumped the shark now.

You seriously just equated the people of Ukraine, and their situation, with Hamas?

That is sick.

1dayatatime · 12/10/2023 23:31

@Parkingt111

Did you even read my post ? I didn't say that WP is not being used in Gaza but that it is simply being used as a smoke screen and not as an incendiary weapon which others (less informed or with an ulterior motive) have falsely alleged.

Fortunately you will be pleased to know that the Human Rights Watch agrees with me:

"Human Rights Watch also reviewed two videos from October 10 from two locations near the Israel-Lebanon border. Each shows 155mm white phosphorus artillery projectiles being used, apparently as smokescreens, marking, or signaling."

As well as the Chemical Weapons Convention:

"White phosphorus is normally used to produce smoke, to camouflage movement.
If that is the purpose for which the white phosphorus is used, then that is considered under the convention legitimate use."

So in answer to your question my post is accurate and in line with the views of both the Human Rights Watch and CWC. The use of WP in Gaza has been for smoke screen purposes which is not illegal.

NotTerfNorCis · 12/10/2023 23:36

The Palestinians and Ukrainians are both under attack by a bigger power. It's a fair analogy.

Anyone who still thinks Hamas came out of nowhere needs to do some serious reading.

Prrambulate · 12/10/2023 23:46

“So we can all agree that indiscriminately bombing Palestinian children and depriving 50,000 pregnant women of water is bad right? Right?”

“Look, whatever happens now is on Hamas…”

”But those things are bad right? Like we shouldn’t support those actions?”

”…”

IntheJingelyJangelyJungle · 13/10/2023 00:12

I was raised as a Catholic nationalist on a conflict border in Northern Ireland.

The IRA (‘my side’) bombed the shit out of us- my house was rebuilt twice- as we lived in v close proximity to a British barracks.

The IRA terrorists viewed us, absolutely, as collateral damage. They kidnapped ‘their own side’ (and held a classmate of mine, aged 11) at gun point, to make his mother (cleaner in the barracks) carry a detonation devise into her work. Across the road from my house.

In my village primary school I remember every time I heard a ‘bang’ we all dropped to the floor. 2 classmates lost family members as ‘collateral damage’.

If the British Army had retaliated against terrorist threats like Israel are now Northern Ireland, as we know it, wouldn’t exist.

I know Gaza is a thousand fold worse than Northern Ireland- my heart absolutely aches for the mothers and children who are suffering because of historical war.

My heart aches equally for the families and people massacred by Hamas.

There are no ‘good side/ bad side’ in this. It’s just innocent children and mothers being slaughtered.

I am NOT okay with the Israeli response- but I don’t know what the answer is. What would you do if you were the prime minister of Israel?

Not this. But what?

sadmumuk · 13/10/2023 00:28

hamas won’t surrender unless Israel tries something other than more bombing/taking more land.

Egyptians have their own problems

sadmumuk · 13/10/2023 00:32

Well this is what it feels like it to me from reading this thread and being on social media. I’m sorry if you think I’m a terrible person. I try to be unbiased and have empathy for everyone.

StoneofDestiny · 13/10/2023 00:33

We need to send aid to Gaza - innocent human beings there are being slaughtered and have no water, electricity or food supplies to help them survive or for their hospitals to function. The Israelis have expanded settlements all around the area - hemming in Palestinians to an inadequate land share and they then control the borders.
Listening to CNN reporting is horrendously biased - thank goodness the BBC are showing more balance.
Utterly sick to death of hearing the Israeli government justifying all their inhumane actions - not everybody in Gaza supports Hamas! Utterly sick to hear all the help/aid/support is going to Israel - when it is obvious they are breaking the 'rules of war'. Do the innocent people of Gaza not need support - or are we going to watch them be annihilated?

If you cage people in and make their life unbearable are people really surprised if some resort to violence and extremism?

StoneofDestiny · 13/10/2023 00:36

And why are public buildings in the UK flying the Israeli flag? Fly the flag of peace if you need to fly anything - but it's outrageous to think we are flying the flag of a country breaking every humanitarian code known to the civilised world!

sadmumuk · 13/10/2023 00:37

They might when Israel can show they can have a peaceful conversation/stop bombing what’s left of Palestine/ give some of the stolen land back.

ketchup07070 · 13/10/2023 00:39

I think we need to ask MPs to push for a humanitarian corridor. Surprisingly, perhaps, a Tory MP has suggested it - so there's a chance our current government might have enough MPs who will push for it.

The US are trying to negotiate a route into Egypt at the border.

sadmumuk · 13/10/2023 00:43

Even if aid is sent Israel has blocked/bombed borders. They have also bombed the airports of Syria to stop anything coming in.

Israelis can go to shelters for safety. Many have second passports to flee the country.

palestinians have no where to go but wait to be murdered in their own homes.

the cold indifference I have seen to Palestinians in the media/social media has been shocking. I’ve been so upset and angry this week. We’re literally watching a genocide in real time.

ketchup07070 · 13/10/2023 00:49

@flufferknutter I know, but I think it's something the UK should support. I'm ashamed that our politicians have not insisted on it.

I agree, they should absolutely be pushing for it.

Nothing like the same thing

1dayatatime · 13/10/2023 06:52

@sadmumuk

The level of deliberate misinformation on these threads continues:

"Even if aid is sent Israel has blocked/bombed borders. They have also bombed the airports of Syria to stop anything coming in."

+++

You know very well by looking at a map that the airports of Syria are very long way from Gaza and could never be used for the purposes of bringing aid to Gaza.

The reason the airports of Aleppo and Damascus were hit by missiles is that they are transit points for Iranian arms sent to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

You clearly know this by the use of the words "anything coming in" so that can you later post that you never specifically said they were being used for aid.

This new development is nuts. How are 1.1m Gazan's supposed to 'move down' to the south in 24 hours? Apparently Gaza is one of the most densely populated places in the world. So surely a) there's no room b) there's no food, water, electricity to help them do so c) where do they go when they get there? I'm sure there's d, e, f, g etc etc that I haven't thought of.

Is this so the Israelis can say 'well we told you to get out...'

I know Hamas are a terrorist organisation and I know that what they did is reprehensible, i really do, but this isn't the answer, although I don't know what is... Sad

Efacsen · 13/10/2023 07:10

It's almost unbelievable isn't it - the poor Red Crescent Spokesperson was sobbing thro' their statement about evacuating the sick and frail - atm the medics are refusing to evacuate the hospital - how would you do that anyway with no fuel

A million strong refugee camp right on Egypts doorstep in Rafah but not actually IN Egypt

Hopefully water and food and tents portaloos are being rushed across the Sinai dessert right now

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 13/10/2023 07:16

Well now they are going in they need to give leaflets out about hammas and getting rid of hammas but how dirt poor people can do that whilst hammas has such a grip I don't know.

I would show pics of beautiful apartments and schools etc and say all this is passible if you get rid of hammas and give then hope and something to work for for their own children

TokyoSushi · 13/10/2023 07:20

Grant Shapps was just on Sky basically saying that yes there are British/dual nationals there, and they may even be hostages, but it's pretty much impossible to get them out.

1dayatatime · 13/10/2023 07:21

@TokyoSushi

Moving 1.1 million people south of Wadi Gaza in 24 hours is clearly not possible.

It is interesting though that you missed the bit about Hamas dismissing the Israeli warning to move south as "fake propaganda" and "not to fall for it", presumably so that they can continue to use Palestinian civilians as human shields.

Why did you miss that bit out?
