To be against the attacks on Palestine

What happened in Israel was horrific by Hamas. But why are Palestinians being restricted, bombed, dehydrated and deprived of basic needs because of terrorists? Why is the world supporting Israel commiting war crimes?

Hamas are sick fucks to kill innocents. But it's like history repeating again. 9/11 caused millions of Iraqis killed for what?

Have we learned nothing from the past???

The rafah gate, when open, has been for personnel rather than goods

False. There is UN data which tracks movement of people and goods into Gaza across all the border crossings, including Rafah. Their data shows trucks with construction materials as well as petrol and diesel entered Gaza through the Rafah crossing.

Since 2018, goods have also entered Gaza regularly from Egypt, via the Rafah crossing, controlled by the Egyptian authorities, and then through the adjacent Salah Ad Din Gate, controlled by the local authorities.

please stop peddling false information.

I'm referring to dual use goods and heavy construction supplies. The kind needed for solar panels, generators and water infrastructure.

The data the UN gets? The raw source of that is what I have access to. It's not false information.

I'm interested in the US response. Antony Blinken has already arrived in Israel and is resolute that Israel has the US full support. As far as I'm aware, Israel has the money and the means to destroy (or at least significantly harm) Hamas if they want to, but the US seem to be making a big role for themselves already. Why is this? Honestly genuine, not trying to be goady at all question.

Hezbollah - Lebanon's own fundamentalist terrorists - are itching to attack Israel, too. They are better armed than the Palestinian terrorists and Israel likely need some support to deter them.

There is also the spectre of Iran whose lovely leaders would wipe all Jews off the face of the earth given half a chance.

The USA is standing by with warships, fighter jets and other forces to deter that and are ready to help as needed.

I would hope that the UK and others will also be moving carrier groups to the Mediterranean, if not already there.

You said the border at Rafah was only used for people. That’s not true.

The UN data shows construction and electrical materials moved cross the border. Yes some materials are heavily restricted to prevent Hamas using for terror activities. Whether that specifically excludes materials for solar panels and generators I don’t know. But to imply nothing related to construction gets through isn’t correct.

Let’s also note that Hamas have an extensive tunnel network which manages to bring in plenty of supplies to launch rockets and arm themselves.
Maybe they could have used the same tunnels to bring in solar panels and generators.

Ive assumed its understood that traders goods would accompany traders, my mistake as I'm used to dealing with people who are working at the same knowledge level, and that in a post about heavy construction goods these would be understood to be the goods I'm referring too. For the avoidance of doubt, day labourers would have tools with them as well so if you are either obtuse or simply just not grasping the concepts here that would be construction equipment, though still not relevant to the original point.

I've also assumed that people understand what restricted means: limited as opposed to entirely prevented. There was no implication that nothing construction related gets through to Gaza. Instead it was directly stated that these resources are restricted.

As to your final paragraph, that was my original point. Hamas misuse and redirect funds. They use what they do have to arm themselves rather than support Palestinians. So as final paragraphs go, congratulations on a point poorly made Captain Obvious.

sadmumuk · 12/10/2023 18:17

What a lot of misinformation and promotion of violence I have seen here. It’s disappointing but not surprising as no one cared about Palestinian children being murdered before. Israel and the US are bullies and they’re going to blow up thousands of people living in an open air prison.

sadmumuk · 12/10/2023 18:19

Just to clarify the beheading of babies was a false rumour started by an IDF soldier.

SomeCatFromJapan · 12/10/2023 18:20

I'm the last person who is cheerleading blowing up anyone, it's all horrible, but I'm genuinely aghast at the mimimisation of the attacks and massacres against people in Israel over the last few days. It's not okay.

Oh well murdering babies is just fine then! Never mind, eh?!

sadmumuk · 12/10/2023 18:22

They would like to? No one has done anything to Israel. In fact Israel has been killing Palestinians for decades. Middle East is trying to trade with them!

if hamas in Gaza are a problem why has Israel locked down the West Bank!? (Illegal Israeli settlers can pass checkpoints of course).

SomeCatFromJapan · 12/10/2023 18:23

@sadmumuk are you denying that babies were killed? Or are you saying that if they weren't beheaded, it was less abhorent? Which of the two please?

Does it really matter? Isn't enough that innocent people, including children, have been murdered? It feels like such a distraction to be quibbling over the method of brutal murder.

I don't know if you misunderstood it or not, but that person has made multiple posts in support of Palestine and the tone of the message was obviously sarcasm.

You are wrong. There is now photographic evidence that beheadings and other atrocities took place including children.

Antony Blinken, United States Secretary of State describes photos of 'depravity in the worst imaginable way'

Asked by a reporter about graphic photos, Blinken says that what they show is “beyond what anyone would want to imagine. Babies riddled with bullets, young people burned alive... It's simply depravity in the worst imaginable way.”

He's then asked about the situation in Gaza.
He repeats a line said by President Biden in his speech earlier this week.
"Hamas continues to use civilians as human shields", Blinken says, stressing the perspective that Hamas has been intentionally putting civilians in harm's way.

This was not your common garden terror attack. It's something unprecedented. Interestingly, as soon as the images were verified and the level of depravation and brutality confirmed, the Uk is sending military support to Israel.

The UK will send surveillance aircraft and two Royal Navy ships to the eastern Mediterranean in plans “to support Israel", No 10 says.

Wow. Do you not realise how utterly disgusting your post is?

"Just to clarify..." as if mutilated babies are merely an aside to your attempt to prove you're 'right' and someone else is wrong?

What is wrong with people!

@ForFriends you obviously didn't read what I posted and the Whitehouse made a statement saying actually Biden hadn't seen Any photos and was going from comments made by Netanyahu

To be against the attacks on Palestine
1dayatatime · 12/10/2023 19:04

@sadmumuk

There really seems to be a standard playbook here:

Step 1 Denial
Step 2 - whataboutery
Step 3 Conspiracy theories - eg the Israelis intentionally let it happen etc
Step 4 - once the conspiracy theories have planted a seed of doubt in the gullible or conspiracy theory obsessed then revert back to denial.

It's all so predictable.

Optionyougot · 12/10/2023 19:05

Personally, I'm sad to see anyone deployed to areas of conflict but realistically this is the right move. Iran, Lebanons Hezbollah and others are hovering like vultures and ready to supply Hamas.
At the same time, the rhetoric from the US about restraint and war crimes suggests a recognition that third party presence is needed.
I just hope that it isn't used by the likes of Iran as a reason to mobilise based on western meddling.

Hopefully the aid he mentions includes the besieged people in Gaza who now have no electricity, food or water.
I wouldn't agree with them supporting the attack on Gaza or supplying Israel with weapons, but surveillance against terrorist activity seems useful.

Dolphin1111111111111111111111111 · 12/10/2023 19:12

Biden is a bumbling fool and doesn't know what he is saying on a good day. Washington have had to pedal back as he hasn't seen anything.

People are being murdered bothe sides and its horrendous but don't paint an awful picture to make one side look worse than the other
