To be against the attacks on Palestine

1000 replies

Threemangoes · 11/10/2023 13:42

What happened in Israel was horrific by Hamas. But why are Palestinians being restricted, bombed, dehydrated and deprived of basic needs because of terrorists? Why is the world supporting Israel commiting war crimes?

Hamas are sick fucks to kill innocents. But it's like history repeating again. 9/11 caused millions of Iraqis killed for what?

Have we learned nothing from the past???

Well, well, well, I've been called quite a few names this morning for calling for caution when spreading stories (that will fuel hate towards Palestinians).

Honestly, it would be good to have a 3 days ceasefire just so a proper verification of what really happened before we all sit and watch Gazans be massacred.

A terrible attack happened and terrible consequences need to happen for the perpetrators but there seem to be A LOT of rumours going around taken as truth that make people say Israel has no choice but to bomb Gaza to the ground "considering how barbaric the attacks were".

We don't have the luxury of sayinf "oops, our bad, that was all mass hysteria" after 6 weeks of Gazans being murdered.

fioritura · 11/10/2023 18:31

Thousands of Israelis have flown out of Ben Gurion, they have passports (more than one in a lot of cases). People in Gaza do not have passports, they were told to evacuate which some who had means to do so attempted via the Egyptian border but the IOF subsequently bombed the border (killing many!).

BULLSHIT!!! Egypt closed the border days ago!

duchiebun · 11/10/2023 18:34

That is why Egypt closed the borders. No other Arab country want them

This aspect does get glossed over. @FlowFle @Threemangoes do you think Eqypt should let civilians in? Why aren’t they?

iamenougheveryday · 11/10/2023 18:36

Any BBC video is bullshit. No one is more antisemetic than the BBC.

ketchup07070 · 11/10/2023 18:36

40% of the population in Gaza are under 14. 50% are kids. Kids. It's simply wicked to do this to them. Ceasefire and negotiation with neutral international help. Recover hostages. Enforce 67 borders on both parties and invest in peacekeeping. Prosecute both sides for war crimes committed.

Genuine question OP, do you think it’s a reasonable aim for Israel to want to destroy Hamas? How should they achieve that? I feel for the Palestinians but I do wonder what happens if Israel do nothing, do they face another similar attack in a few months? Because Hamas have been lobbing rockets at Israel for years, they don’t actually want to negotiate they want all the Jews gone (this is their stated aim, it’s like trying to negotiate with Isis, it’s a zero sum game) thats not a point from which the Israeli government can negotiate.

I just want to clarify when people here say end the occupation do you mean drop the blockade (which would probably result in worse for Israel than what we’ve just seen) or do you mean there should be no Jews in Israel? Because the second one is what Hamas are talking about when they use the word occupation.

What I want to see is a two state solution. Initially I think the only way that could be achieved is for the UN to go in and effectively run Palestine until such times as they are in a position to form a legitimate government.

I want to see recently acquired land stolen by Israel returned to Palestine and freedom of movement between Gaza and the west bank.

I also want to see Palestine able to trade with the rest of the world.

I want all parties to feel and be safe in their homes.

iamenougheveryday · 11/10/2023 18:38

The UN are the worst of all! They know Hamas are terrorists, they knew Hamas was running Gaza, yet the UN did nothing!!!

duchiebun · 11/10/2023 18:38

The only situation is. two state solution but how can the UN do this?

The BBC is anti-semitic or at the very least biased against Israel.

Noicant · 11/10/2023 18:40

Yup I want to see a 2 state solution too, I’d like Palestinian and Israeli people to live in peace. I just don’t think Hamas or a right wing Israeli government can be part of that.

curaçao · 11/10/2023 18:41

Clutterbugsmum · 11/10/2023 14:45

I agree with OP.

The shear disproportionate response from Israel to Hamas is what most concerning.

So many people including children are going to suffer with the stopping of basic human rights and the bombing.

I have no issues with them going after Hamas terrorist's but to bomb/invade is not going to help anyone with peace.

There has to be a dusproportionate retaliation to act as a deterrant

iamenougheveryday · 11/10/2023 18:42

fioritura · 11/10/2023 18:38

So Israel didn't bomb the border. They bombed the underground tunnels to stop the terrorists escaping. And they did allow people to leave, with prior permission again to stop terrorists escaping.
The world should be thanking Israel for checking who people are before crossing borders.
In the UK we let in any Tom, Dick, and Harry and one day when they decide to wage war on the West we will all be slaughtered by sleeper cells.

duchiebun · 11/10/2023 18:42

it’s chicken & egg isn’t it.

Prescottdanni123 · 11/10/2023 18:42

Taking in Palestinian refugees in is going to be different from taking in Ukranians. The last thing we do is Hamas militants passing themselves off as refugees to come over here.

GrumpyPanda · 11/10/2023 18:44

AmIAutumnalNow · 11/10/2023 14:28

But @GrumpyPanda the Palestinians are all innocent victims. Why would neighbouring countries not want to help them?

It's not that simple is it? It's not simply an atomized mass of individuals. Even if it were, governments may well be wary of distributional conflicts with their own population - just look at the increasing change of sentiment in Turkey about sheltering Syrians.

Worse, in this case, bringing in a sizable number of Gazans means bringing in Hamas as well. You think the Egyptian government wants a competing power center of hardcore terrorists when they've just spent over a decade cracking down on the (democratically legitimated) Muslim brotherhood? The fragile inter-group balance in Lebanon has been hugely affected by Hisbollah coming in as an additional factor - right on down to prime ministerial assassinations.

I agree it's heartbreaking. In particular since I've just seen MENA experts on Twitter suggest part of the motivation for the attacks was the increasing resistance to Hamas among Gazans, including open demonstrations over the past few months. That must have taken a lot of courage.

Are you seriously believing a word that is said by the IOF considering their extensive history of being completely corrupt liars who will say and do anything to save face on the world stage and keep support for Israel?

Bloomingmagnolia · 11/10/2023 18:45

1dayatatime · 11/10/2023 18:25

@Bloomingmagnolia

"With the most sophisticated intelligence on the planet, it beggars belief they knew nothing. This was a well-orchestrated attack with a huge cache of weapons. How the fuck did Hamas hide that when every aspect of their lives is monitored??"

+++

Well there are two explanations here
A) the Israeli intelligence services fucked up or
b) the Israeli intelligence services knew it was coming and deliberately allowed the massacre and kidnapping of women, children and babies in order to justify attacking Gaza

Indeed. Whatever the failure, Israel stands to seize Gaza and finish off the Palestinians living there - its ambition all along. As history has taught us, governments to do all sorts of unsavory things.

1dayatatime · 11/10/2023 18:46

In the absence of a response from @FlowFle and @Threemangoes maybe I can answer.

Egypt has heavily restricted the border crossing at Rafah for over ten years now because terrorist groups were using Gaza as a base to launch attacks against Egyptians in Northern Sinai.

Sound familiar?

iamenougheveryday · 11/10/2023 18:36

Any BBC video is bullshit. No one is more antisemetic than the BBC.

God, in the last few threads I have read, every time some sort of evidence is shown against Israel acts

"UN is biased and bought by arabs, why do you think they let so many Muslim countries participate"

"Amnesty International is a joke anyway, the defend trans people right"

"BBC is antisemtic anyway"

"That Israeli journalist saying that no babies were beheaded is a Palestinian sympathiser anyway"

Bruh, everybody is always lying and anti semitic, right?

duchiebun · 11/10/2023 18:46

One reason given for the Hammas attack is the thawing of relations between Saudi & Israel, which is not good for Iran.

duchiebun · 11/10/2023 18:47

@1dayatatime I wondering if those posters knew the reluctance

Taking in Palestinian refugees in is going to be different from taking in Ukranians. The last thing we do is Hamas militants passing themselves off as refugees to come over here.

Then there needs to be a ceasefire and international help to resolve the situation.
