To be sickened by Hamas

1000 replies

MindfullyAmazedHorse · 10/10/2023 22:08

AIBU to be sickened by what Hamas terrorists have done to innocent Israeli citizens?

I am not totally familiar with the whole Israeli - Palestinian situation. I don’t think anything political can explain what has happened over the last few days.

It is utterly horrendous what Hamas has done. I also think that Hamas are no friend to the Palestinians. They are bringing wrath on them.

I have read that this is the worst attack on innocent Jewish people since the holocaust, which is horrifying.

I am struggling to process these recent events.

Why don't you answer the question properly, instead of resorting to drama, insults and whataboutery?

Answer the question directly. If the truth is as you have been promoting it, you should have no problem in giving a straight answer.

If you don't, people reading will assume you can't give a direct answer to it, hence all the shouting and hyperbole to redirect attention.

Yep, skirt around the question and make up random narratives, I'd expect nothing less from you.

So do you now believe that Palestine is a denomination of Israel? If not why would they be asking Israel for equal rights? They should ask their own leaders, and while they're at it they could ask them to drop this fruitless "all or nothing" mindset and reopen peace talks.

It's interesting to see how little you and other 'pro' Palestine posters think of Palestinian people. You peddle a narrative of them all being poor, helpless souls at the mercy of everyone else and with no agency of their own. How patronising.

Since you won't answer my previous question I'll ask you this..

If Israel withdrew completely from the West Bank and Gaza and lifted all restrictions, do you think their would be peace between Israel and Palestine?

It is simply untrue to say this was an act of war. It was an act of terrorism.

@LemonyTicket Jews were living on THEIR land (there were there first) under oppression of their Muslim overlords.

And before the Jews there were who exactly? This whole Jews were there first as an argument for ethnic cleansing could be used to justify almost any cultural aggression throughout history, and has been.

There was a time before Judaism, before Christianity and before Islam. Time didn't start with Abraham.

At least 1917 with the Balfour declaration, arguably millennia.

Your post is much better than the one you're replying to here @Daftasabroom

The British Empire very much didn't start this. Zionism and movements by Jews to return to the area existed way before Britain took over. Even looking only at modern Zionism and yishuvs, that's the late 19th century. This is something that would've been an issue regardless of how the territory was ruled, once the Ottomans were booted out.

I should add that the British Empire stole my ancestors land and committed genocide, so I've no love for it.

@ATerrorofLeftovers excellent point well made! Brilliantly put! 👏

@TrashedSofa there's been a really good radio 4 series - Mandate. It's well worth a listen.

Whether it was scheduled for broadcast this week I don't know. But very relevant nonetheless.

Well, if Megyn Kelly says so. I apologize. Please proceed with the bombing. I was a fool defending Palestinians.

Please quote the relevant posts. I have seen nothing of the sort

I have seen people defending the rights of Palestinian people, perhaps you are confusing the two dear?

Indeed. Astonishing that anyone can still be supporting Hamas after the atrocities at the weekend, and yet here they are.

Those posts cannot be quoted because Mumsnet has deleted them....

rinbaud · 11/10/2023 13:20

Canaanites were there originally - God told Abraham to go forth and nick it. Which he duly did by wiping them all out because they were wicked - sodomites and other stuff and worshipped idols.

"You defend Hamas" when speaking up for Palestinians is the new "you are anti-semite" when pointing out Israel's actions.

Supporting Hamas? Or supporting innocent civilians? Because those are not the same things.

Very low population of nomadic tribes AFAIK.

What are you talking about?!

There might have been a few, but it was vastly Arab populated land. The whole rationale for the state of Israel was the fact that Jews from EUROPE needed a homeland away from persecution.

Firstly I'm not sure why the minority population, which the majority had subjected to second class citizens status for centuries, should have had less right to a state than the majority. Care to explain?

'There might have been a few'. That's not good enough. Absolutely not good enough. Then you make proclamations about the rationale for the creation of Israel and expect to be taken seriously?! No.

Oh please accept my apologies that you couldn't understand my answer. Let me explain.
I'll tell you which is unreasonable. The side who controls water and power of Palestine. The side who has caged Palestinians for so many years. The side that steals Palestinians homes and land to this day. The side who kills peaceful protestor of Palestine. The side who bombs innocent civilians, their schools, theirs refuge centre, their hospitals in the name of Hamas. The side that has wiped Palestine off the world map. The side that demands Palestinians to be good occupants and keep their head down and do as told on order to live peacefully in an open air prison.

I can go on but my thumbs hurt
