AIBU to be sickened by what Hamas terrorists have done to innocent Israeli citizens?

I am not totally familiar with the whole Israeli - Palestinian situation. I don’t think anything political can explain what has happened over the last few days.

It is utterly horrendous what Hamas has done. I also think that Hamas are no friend to the Palestinians. They are bringing wrath on them.

I have read that this is the worst attack on innocent Jewish people since the holocaust, which is horrifying.

I am struggling to process these recent events.

As poster on another thread said. No matter what Isreal suffers, their reaction is disproportionate. No matter what atrocity Hanas commits their actions are ‘understandable’.

And that’s antisemitism right there. I can’t think of any other word for it.

And here’s a clue as to whether you, dear reader , are the bad guy. If you can look at a trussed up young woman, with blood all over the backside of her joggers, and we all know what that means, hand trussed together, being dragged by a man from the boot of a truck into the back seat with armed men and think, ‘well it’s understandable they are doing that really…’.

If you can look at the inert body of a near naked young women in the back of a truck, with men resting their legs over her, and crowds cheering and men spitting on her and think, ‘well, it’s understandable really..’. You are the bad guy. You are really are. You have lost your humanity.

Your own information will probably come under scrutiny later. When I got to the bit in your earlier thread where you said "Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have been killed by the Israelis" I did a fact check and found about 32,000 had.

You don't write like an academic. You don't write with supportive facts like academic posters do.

And as you're repeating the blame the British line, why not read this report, at least the conclusions of it, from 1936. It's a perfectly sensible two state solution offer from the British, which the Jews accepted and the Arabs rejected. I very much doubt that you know why you blame the British. I can’t bring myself to read through this thread or any of the others. I can barely bring myself to write. I have tried to post over and over again over the last few days, but I cannot find the words.

My heart is broken, my people are still finding the bodies, we have not yet buried our dead, we are still reeling, not one of us is untouched in this, and around the world people are celebrating and dancing in the streets to see our agony. And yet more are silent. “AIBU to be sickened by Hamas?” around 80 people are unashamed to outright tell you that yes they think this is unreasonable.

I do not understand how people can be so cruel.

What terrorist sympathisers ? No one is condoning what Hamas did. This accusation is being thrown at anyone who dares criticise Israel for what they’ve been doing for decades. The actual figures of the dead on both sides have been quoted upthread. Calling those who attempt to have a balanced world view and an understanding of the roots of the conflict, anti semitic, terrorist sympathisers and all the other insults being traded here doesn’t change the facts.

About the partition it proposed it says:

'Partition means that neither will get all it wants. It means that the Arabs must acquiesce in the exclusion from their sovereignty of a piece of territory, long occupied and once ruled by them. It means that the Jews must be content with less than the Land of Israel they once ruled and have hoped to rule again.'

Seems absolutely fair. Yet the Arabs refused it.

i think Palestinians are really suffering. You can Google maternal deaths in Gaza, women giving birth and dying at checkpoints in Labour on the way to hospitals, children dying due to bombs, lack of clean water, lack of import, export, not being able to fish in their own waters, not being able to see relatives abroad etc etc to understand a bit more.
