Collective Punishment - No water, no food, no medicines

1000 replies

Lieblingsessen · 09/10/2023 19:19

I do not condone whatsoever what the Hamas attacks on civilians in Israel or their ideology

But surely, Israel laying siege to Gaza, preventing innocent civilians from accessing water, food, medicines, electricity for hospital equipment, is not justifiable. To collectively punish civilians who have no control over what Hamas or their government does. This is medieval.

Where is the outcry on the mainstream media about this? Surely it is not being anti-semitic to call out Israel, that retaliation is not unexpected, but collective punishment is horrendous.

@KimberleyClark Yes. I don't get how making other children suffer punishes the men who committed these terrible crimes.

ginandtonicwithlimes · 10/10/2023 17:48

If Israel has done no wrong why do you need houses with a safe room? Mightn't it be Israeli settlements that are illegal?

Then why was Israel attacked in 1948 simply because it existed? And the Arab Higher Committee openly admit to the UN that they started the war?

Why did Gamal Abdel Nassar endorse the protocols of the elders of Zion?

Why did the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem visit Hitler and tell him that they had the same enemies, namely the English, Communist and Jews?

And the Arab Jews expelled from their homes after the creation of Israel? Would you also ask why so many were raped and murdered "if they had done nothing wrong"?

The Western world does not have a monopoly on antisemitism.

Lastchancechica · 10/10/2023 18:26

My guess is Israel are signalling for a mass exodus of Gaza before a land offensive. If they advise that a blockade is going to happen my thoughts are that this will prompt families to leave. I hear what you will say about the ones that will be left behind. But it’s my understanding that Israel now intend to totally raze Hamas to the ground. It has gone too far. I imagine a full scale ground attack is now imminent and yes it’s deeply chilling for the innocents inside this unfolding nightmare. There are innocents on both sides.

We have to hope this isn’t the start of world war 3 to be honest - a straight forward land invasion is infinitely preferable than other countries wading in to support either side.

BigBillyButterBollocks · 10/10/2023 18:12

They have to get permission to get sick children out of Gaza to get treatment they can't there because of the blocade. Some die waiting.

But they are free huh?

Edited

Do you also expect South Korea to take North Korean patients into their hospitals, or America to take Mexicans, or Senegal to take Mauritanians, etc?

Do you want all Palestinians to suffer for what Hamas did, because that is what will happen.

I'm struggling with emotions at the moment. The first two days I didn't cry, and now I can't stop. I've slept for about two hours this week. The only distraction is work. The horrors and brutality is unimaginable. We have seen things we should not.

40 babies were decapitated in one town alone.

You ask me about my feelings about the Palestinians. I felt sad at first because I knew they would suffer greatly as a natural consequence of the actions of their government and soldiers.

Now I'm feeling nothing at all.

ketchup07070 · 10/10/2023 18:31

@Lastchancechica I worry about it turning into ww3 too. God only knows how it might escalate.

You know what, after seeing this, I don't care if not a single tree remains standing in Gaza.

Eye for an eye then? I am sure the trees will survive but not sure on the children in Gaza which going by your post sure sounds like what you are wishing for.

SinkingSilently · 10/10/2023 18:21

By the chilling tone on her posts, I can guess the answer to your question.

I think what we’re seeing is extremely shocking and people might be finding it hard

I’m not connected and I can only imagine how hard it would be to be so

Israel will win this in the short term. How utterly terrifying for all involved.

And a Channel makes it difficult for French citizens to go to work in England every day. What's your point?

It's not apartheid to have different sets of rights for citizens and non-citizens. Every country in the world does that.

But just by the by, movement from Gaza into Israel proper used to be relatively free. The fence was erected as a response to Arab terrorists butchering Jews.

But Palestinians are on their own land. Not like French and England.

You are so out of arguments to defend your stupid position?

That is what everybody reproach to Israel. Denying Palestinians existance and rights and Palestinian territories. Don't get all pissy when it's pointed out.

Hamas willingly put Gazans in danger by their actions. They knew this would happen. They have been as barbaric as they possibly could be in the hope that Israrl would destroy Gaza and ignite a Holy War. They couldn't care less about Palestinians or their children.

I know they don't but posters on here should be better than that.

If they steal their land, harass them, discriminate against them then put them in an open air prison that they bomb when they feel like it, a place where they ensure there is not enough medication, then yes, I at least expect them to have something in place to let children be transported to a place where they can be treated. Yes.

It's just an excuse. Netanyahu coudln't bomb Gaza to rubble and kill anyone before without the world reacting.

Now watch him do just that.

It's not our job to look after their children. That is the responsibility of their chosen government.

It's true Israel should be able to win quickly, if no one else gets involved. Europe may then need to deal with 2 million refugees, unless Israel has some plan to repair where they live.

Why aren't they treated in Egypt? And before someone starts the bombed border crap again, Gaza has been autonomous since 2005. The border with Egypt has not been closed since 2005. It has been open apart from the last 72 hours.

Why do they not get 'permission' from Egypt, their neighbour?

Beyond the border crossing at Rafah there is over 300 miles of empty inhospitable desert before you reach Cairo the nearest major town/city

It 75 miles from Gaza to Jerusalem

Egypt is not a wealthy country with top-class medical care - wealthy patients come from Egypt to the UK for treatment

PS The border hasn't been open in any meaningful way because of Israeli bombing of the border crossing and the road to Rafah [massive chunks destroyed] for at least the last 36 hours see Reuters reporting

The escape routes and safe spaces are being bomb on purpose by Israel.. The convoys trying to bring help are being bombed on purpose by Israel. They are not leaving in the first place. Or maybe in body bags.

ketchup07070 · 10/10/2023 18:44

@AUserNameIsNot You don't need to look after them, just not kill them. But I get you feel angry at the entire ethnic group now, which is an understandable reaction I expect. You've been very honest about it.

I suggest they walk. Or they can stay put and take their chances. Up to them really. Not our problem.

I wonder what the Jewish faith says about that callous attitude?

Mustardseed86 · 10/10/2023 18:47

AUserNameIsNot · 10/10/2023 18:12

For a human rights organisation like Btselem to not find their words when there is rape in the streets, when babies were decapitated in their beds, when mothers were set on fire and burned alive: there is no forgiveness and there is no forgetting. This is what human rights the EU cash buys: the new human right to be shielded from natural consequences.

Do you not understand the magnitude of what has occurred here?

The question on this thread is not posed correctly.

How could we forgive ourselves we this time for sending water, some of which will reach these evil men? How could we dishonour the parents slaughtered with their children and send the murderers food and electricity before they have even been buried? How can you ask this from us in a time like this?

This.
