Collective Punishment - No water, no food, no medicines

1000 replies

Lieblingsessen · 09/10/2023 19:19

I do not condone whatsoever what the Hamas attacks on civilians in Israel or their ideology

But surely, Israel laying siege to Gaza, preventing innocent civilians from accessing water, food, medicines, electricity for hospital equipment, is not justifiable. To collectively punish civilians who have no control over what Hamas or their government does. This is medieval.

Where is the outcry on the mainstream media about this? Surely it is not being anti-semitic to call out Israel, that retaliation is not unexpected, but collective punishment is horrendous.

Amazing how many people on this thread think a nice sit down and a chat with Islamist terrorists over a cup of tea will resolve things.

There's even people talking about ISIS as if they're reasonable and wouldn't have been such naughty boys if The West hadn't gone into Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.

Understand that they want the 'non-believers' dead, by whatever barbaric means possible.

The way they treat their own girls and women should be enough for you to see what they are but still the bleeding hearts are convinced they just need a chat. FFS.

Give me strength...

I read this and was drawn to agreeing (and i certainly agree with your comments about the treatment of women and girls). But then I remembered Mo Mowlam and the Good Friday Agreement. And I remember everyone saying you can't sit down with terrorists and achieve anything. And then I remember the Queen shaking hands with Martin McGuinness.

Violence only breeds violence. Right now Palestinians are suffering because of what Hamas did, and trying to defend and justify them killing around 700 civilians is sickening. Israel is doing what they would have done in this situation, both sides want each other dead, but it got escalated to this because of Hamas' actions in the last days. If Hamas had the capability, they would bomb Israel out of existence. No part in this conflict is blameless, but it there was no full blown war a week ago, and now there is, and it's clear who instigated it.

Hum. That's some strong denier shit right there. Russian level of gaslighting too.

Palestinians suffer because of Israel apartheid that has lasted for decades.

They suffer because of Israel constant bombing and cut of their electricity and water and food.

Israeli civilians have suffered because of the actions of Hamas.

Israelis haven't provoked Hamas actions. Palestinians haven't provoked Israel's actions.

What an absolutely horrendous and desperate situation this is. Hamas are without doubt a despicable terrorist organisation, and what they did on Saturday is beyond the pale. However, the siege of Gaza surely can't be the solution, there are innocent people in Gaza who didn't ask for this to happen too. Judging by the troops now massing on the border of Gaza (and let's not forget that the Israelis have the money and equipment and finances to absolutely obliterate Gaza if they so wished) something truly terrible is about to happen.

(in hopefully a way that isn't insulting to those with loved ones in harm's way) that saddens me.

What happened in Mosul is about to happen in Gaza.

I agree. But I also don´t see an other solution.

Or what would you tell a young father whose wife and two children were taken hostage?

"Oh yes, we will just wait and hope that... Hamas returns them in one piece?"

And before you mention a prisoner swap:
Gilad Shalit (one Israeli hostage) had to be exchanged for OVER THOUSAND Palestinian prisoners, 280 of these served life sentences for planning and perpetrating various terror attacks against Israeli targets. It took 5 years for him to be released.

AUserNameIsNot · 10/10/2023 12:03

MisschiefMaker · 10/10/2023 11:47

And actually it is worth noting that in cases when Israeli soldiers have raped Palestinians the papers have been blocked from reporting it. We don't have any way of knowing how often this happens, but it will occasionally come out through freedom of information requests following court cases.

I think you are referring to the COGAT major who demanded sexual services in return for work permits. He got a prison sentence and this is a matter of public record.

KimberleyClark · 10/10/2023 12:03

Agreed. I utterly condemn the actions of Hamas but the indifference of the Israeli government to the suffering of ordinary Palestinians including children is something I find chilling and disturbing.

@BigBillyButterBollocks

Many of your posts are utterly appalling.

But you already know that.

No, They aren't. Calling out the dehumanisation and horrible treatment of a whole population will never be appalling. Or Anti semitic or...

It is annoying and uncomfortable for some people, but, no, it's not appalling.

I think he wants them to leave via the humanitarian corridor that he’s bombing. Everywhere else is blockaded. What do you think you would do in that situation

Exactly what my father and his family did when Hitler was driving into Vienna being feted by Austrian lining the streets and cheering. Grabbed anything that was small and valuable and left.
Netanyahu gave a warning and a window of opportunity to leave. The bombing didn’t start immediately.

FWIW I collected families passports and important documents on Sunday after witnessing what was happening in London. I don’t feel safe living here. The view on this thread alone shows what I always feared.
Posters who would normally espouse that there was no excuse for rape and murder coming up with excuses for rape and murder because the victims are Jewish

TokyoSushi · 10/10/2023 12:06

I saw the father whose wife & children have been kidnapped on TV, it was utterly shocking and devastating, I completely agree that what has happened is just beyond words.

I just fear that the Israelis will now completely destroy Gaza, and I'm not sure that's the right thing either.

I honestly have no idea what the solution is through, it's a truly desperate situation.

I might be oversensitive but the Jews really don't control the media. Honest. I'd tell you if I got an invitation.

No need 🙌🏾

russetapple · 10/10/2023 12:12

You are judging Israel by standards which you would not use for any other country. This is a classic anti-semitic trope. Why do you expect Israel to have a responsibility toward a country that is trying to wipe it off the map? Did we send food and aid to Germany during the War?
Hamas are in Gaza. Hence why they need to attack Gaza and prevent supplies from getting there. They've told civilisians to try and leave, they can't do any more. Hamas has done this to its own people.

HoldOnMiGenna · 10/10/2023 12:12

As a Black person, I am astounded continually how much "Black advocacy" is rooted in a need for validation from the same White Supremacy that it espouses to hate.
It is quite obvious that many Black people only hate White Supremacy as directed at us....but otherwise fights tooth and nail to have a seat at its table instead of building for us , by us. But that would take a genuine Black collectivist spirit and discipline and internal mechanisms of enforcing boundaries and standards that do not exist.
That would mean that Black people would have to have cultural boundaries, reel in male sexual hedonism, stop the over representation of Blackness from the gutter class and nip in the bud celebrity as role models/ leaders of Blackness culture which is wholly counter Intuitive and anti intellectual and very individualistic.
We'd also have to discipline ourselves to stop Blackness and being Black being based on White Racism....which it is to too many of us, with the result being that phenotypical Black femalehood is at the bottom of the totem pole of Blackness, the irony being that Black people couldn't be or exist without her presence.

Black anti Semitism is rooted in jealousy that anti Blackness wasn't the first "anti" to exist.
And the fact that Jewish people for all the tribes that exist within that ethnicity, know when to cleave as ONE tribe when it comes to image, collectivism and defence.

Whereas it usually takes a Black person being in the White West to put Blackness as important as ethnicity .....and many a time that does not guarantee community and it sure as hell hasn't manifested collectivism of any important diasporic penetration outside of Foundational Black American survival and often post civil war flourish, emancipation and full civil rights .

Once we got our cookers, fridges and t.vs and Black men could go with White women without the expectation of a beating, we took our feet off of the necks of who we should have pressed harder on.

Jewish people do and did not. The Shoah was the last straw after a millennia of Gentile shithousing.
And the need to feel good, even if flighting is the compass and inner philosophy of too many Black people, who quite frankly hate being Black and look to offload that issue to any other, including other Black people.
That is why the Gutter class now over represents Blackness in Pop Culture and Black discourse. Too often dunce and compulsive.

I don't think the fanaticism of those who politely called ahead to let you know that your venue was going to be bombed tonight is on the same level as these guys.

So endless bloodshed is a better solution then?

No, we very much hope this is the last Gaza war and we expect it to be decisive, like the battle of Mosul which decisively defeated IS.

On a different level though, yes, it does look like conflict and war is ingrained into the human condition. Liberal democracy needs to be armed to survive and decades of peace cannot be taken for granted as the default condition.

BigBillyButterBollocks · 09/10/2023 23:36

The people finding excuses to the abuse of Palestinians never really even mention what Israel has done to Palestinians.

If you excuse what Israel does to Palestinians because "they had their citizens raped and murdered by terrorists going house to house whose avowed aim was to destroy those cities", you are ignoring that Israel has done the same to Palestinians.

Going house to house, chasing Palestinians, stealing their housea to give it to settlers, burning their children alive, arresting Palestinian children "for attempt murder" because they resisted when Israelis came and killed their family and giving them 10 years of Prison sentences.

Have you seen the video of Palestinians being beaten by the Israeli army in the Mosque?

Why do you justify one side's violence as a revenge, but not the other? Especially when the side you defend is the one doing most of the oppression? The world is turning a blind eye to the atrocities against Palestinians.

If you had read my post properly you would see that nowhere do I justify what the Israelis are doing.

DidIMissOut · 10/10/2023 12:28

sprigatito · 09/10/2023 19:51

Israel finally has the excuse it was waiting for. They are going to wipe the Palestinian people off the face of the earth, and the western media will be cheering them on.

It’s scary how many people are basically giddy, and just waiting to see Palestinians/muslims to be killed.
And I’m not talking about just Israelis.
Islamophobia really ramped up, again, and those people seem to be proud of their bigotry.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/10/2023 12:29

"This massacre was set up by the Israelis who massacred themselves for 'convenience'"

The suggestion was bound to come, ; it usually does, just as it was claimed the Americans had massacred themselves on 9/11

Anything, in fact, to deflect from the reality that some groups' positions - rather than welcoming dialogue - have always been to want their opponents dead

There are ten thousand trained men and 130 or so of our people in their side of the border. Their leaders are free. And we are as fed up of this endless nightmare as you are.

Enough is enough. It ends.

Yalta · 10/10/2023 12:37

You are aware that there are Palestinians that weren’t featured in the video? Or if you see a BNP rally in the UK, does that mean all British people support the BNP? Some Jewish business were targetted in the UK, so I take it you think all British people are anti-semitic

Given how many posters on this thread are trying to make excuses for the actions of those who have raped, murdered and kidnapped women, children and young girls, paraded their naked bodies through the streets whilst spitting on their bodies and shot babies through the head I am beginning to wonder who is and isn’t anti Semitic

Not every British person is anti Semitic
You can be British and Jewish

BigBillyButterBollocks · 10/10/2023 12:40

For anyone who might believe tge claim tht anyone defending Palestinians is a sock puppet, watch this. It will tell you how the apartheid is working for the Palestinians.

That's not even in Gaza, mind you. So the whoel '"we have to blocade them because Hamas" doesn't really make sense, does it?

If you want to go down in a rabbit hole of how the settlers treat Palestinian after that, feel free but there is no joy i sight, just a warning.

Sp of course, let's condemn the violence of the recent attacks. Everybody shoild. But let's not pretend this is the start of Israel trying to get rid of Palestinians or that it is a reason it happened.

SovietSpy · 10/10/2023 12:44

Islamophobia really ramped up, again, and those people seem to be proud of their bigotry

could say the same about anti semitism.
a pro Palestinian rally in Sydney was chanting ‘fuck the Jews’ and ‘gas the Jews’ last night.
Jewish restaurant in London attacked. Graffiti about Palestine daubed in a predominantly Jewish area of London.
a pro Palestine demonstration in NYC has a person holding up a swastika on a phone. People openly mocking Israelis who had gathered and chanting ‘you’re done’ and ‘how many dead’
a March held in Manchester where a student of the University of Manchester (who is also their legal advisor) was interviewed on sky and proclaimed the events in Israel were a ‘proud’ moment.

im sure there will be more of it in the coming days and weeks.

I'm jot agreeing with hamas actions.. no civilians should be hurt, raped or killed.

However, this video highlights and shows what Palestinions have endured for many many years and just shouldn't be allowed. The West have ignored this for too long.
