whenever there is something online about this woman… the haters come out in force. today someone calling her “a Katie price that can keep a husband”

what is the problem? She seems like a fairly inoffensive woman who has made a success out of her life (and that was her own success: she had it before she met David)

Not sure if I may have been too subtle but I loathe this woman. She only hot footed it to Spain when rumours started to surface - she was convinced she had upper hand. He tried to make everything as easy as possible. Loads of realtors, PAs (hah!) plus 5 for her parents only for her to whinge she'd forgotten this or that appointment because all so difficult, she had meant to unpack ONE box but got distracted so surely intent counted? Still didn't give a sweet FA about football but probably expected him to understand Ballet and the ruin caused to her bunion feet. Interesting that he cooks with daughter; mother takes incredible pride in inability to cook when anybody who can read can follow a recipe . . . Bu5623 ... forgot about Brooklyn . . .

I don't understand hardly any of this...

I think it's jealousy and internalised misogyny. I think she is an attractive woman but still quite average looking overall (and I don't mean that as a criticism) and I think people are annoyed that she managed to marry the "golden boy" David Beckham despite this. It's not the natural order of things that a woman has other attributes other than her looks to attract a famous and good looking man (such as a personality and a big fat bank balance of her own). She comes across as funny and genuine to me. I feel very sorry for her she was even blamed by the press for David's affair!

ffs, it is NOT internalised misogyny and jealousy just because women don't like another woman.
What IS internalised misogyny is pretending we have to like other women just because we are women. What IS internalised misogyny is saying any woman who doesn't like another woman is jealous of her.

It's boring and its stupid and its offensive.,

If a man dislikes another man, is he automatically labelled jealous?

This.

I also find it misogynistic to think that we are jealous that she married the so-called Golden Boy. Most people can’t stand him either. In fact he comes across much worse than VB imo.

Though I think he deserves a knighthood as much as any other sleb I can’t stand the thought that he might actually get one. They will both be insufferable when they become Sir and Lady Beckham.

I happen to think a lot of slebs come across as wankers and that these two epitomise the height of wankerhood despite all the money and “glamour” (what we see of them anyway). All the posing and crap. It feels as though we have it stuffed down our throats that we are supposed to want what they have when most of us are quite content with our quiet unshowy lives.

Don’t get me wrong: I quite enjoy sleb news etc. it is like watching performing clowns. And they are paid handsomely for giving us that entertainment and for giving us something to moan about.

IhateHPSDeaneCnt · 13/10/2023 01:48

Loathe the woman due to what she did to his career. He was an idiot too but she kept swearing she would move to Manchester to help him out. Yes, she was a so called 'pop star' - one that lived with parents unless travelling with group. Each to their own. I'm glad he's cooking with his daughter and making sure she has normal eating habits. His wife said one frozen grape was a 'treat'.

JMSA · 13/10/2023 01:59

I like her and wasn't particularly aware of any major dislike towards her.
I remember seeing the Spice Girls in concert. She was the one who everyone cheered for most.

JMSA · 13/10/2023 02:01

Oh, and I loved the Netflix documentary.

LucyLocketLostHerRocket · 13/10/2023 02:53

I actually had a meeting a few years back with her and David Beckham.

She was polite but not overly warm. I suppose I'd say she was "pleasant".

David was incredibly friendly and warm and gave me a kiss on the cheek at the end!

Good memories!!!!!!

wildwestpioneer · 13/10/2023 08:05

I had a lot more respect for her after she stayed with David following the England sending off. He was one of the most hated men in the country, for months and possibly years afterwards. It must've been hell to live through that, especially as a celebrity, who generally thrive on positive attention. I think a lot of women in her circumstances but have left him at that point, she clearly wasn't with him for fame or fortune..

BrightGreenMoonBuggy · 13/10/2023 09:09

For me, it’s purely the materialism - I don’t particularly like ostentatious people and when she and David got married on customised thrones it made them both seem self-important and far too up their own arses to be truly likeable. Other than that, I have no issue with VB and she seems pretty funny and quick-witted.

Castlerock44 · 13/10/2023 09:30

I agree about the jealousy/misogyny thing. Its tiresome and it's trotted out everytime as the only possible reason for disliking someone. It's part of the human condition to like and dislike someone. We don't have to like everyone, end of.

Castlerock44 · 13/10/2023 09:34

WhydidntIknow · 07/10/2023 10:17

@Castlerock44

Because it's jealousy.

No it really isn't. So many successful women who aren't disliked. How can you possibly know it's jealousy.

Castlerock44 · 13/10/2023 09:43

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 06/10/2023 20:07

Shocking that someone would say 'her eldest son is a wanker'. He seems like a lovely well mannered young man. Any wonder he has anxiety the way the press also hounded him as a child and he was crying and distressed. He is a young man and will find his way in life. Not like he is falling out of clubs coked out of his head or drunk, brought up very well and seems like a nice lad.

Getting hounded by the press? that's down to the parents.

DNLove · 13/10/2023 09:48

I think because she doesn't give tonnes of interviews the press resent her and give her negative stories. Then as she doesn't push back they keep going on again on her.
I like her, I think she's funny and would say in her safe circle she's a great laugh.

Ramalangadingdong · 13/10/2023 13:43

@BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants Tbf he does come across as a bit of a wanker. Have you seen his cookery tutorials? Lol!

I’m sure he can take a bit of mockery - he married a billionaire’s daughter and lives on the grounds of her dad’s mansion. His own personal wealth should also cushion him from criticism.

TurquoiseMermaid · 13/10/2023 15:23

I think a lot of it is classicism, the UK is very anti-working class still, but in a very "stay in your lane" kind of way. Working class celebs who play up to certain stereotypes of working class people (or middle class celebs who pretend to be working class) are much more accepted than working class celebs who try to "act posh."

The other thing is that both of them are very upfront in wanting to be famous, wanting as much fame as possible, and being quite shameless about that. In America that mentality would be admired, but in Britain not so much. They also do seem to be pushing their kids into fame in ways that come across as quite exploitative and to have exposed their children to a lot of very negative and damaging things.

OuiRagamuffin · 14/10/2023 12:18

Yes in Ireland as well as America there is class oh yes there sure is, but if a working class person reveals his /her parents are very different and he/she makes middle class choices ie sending children to good schools, buying a house in a good area even if it's not big enough for 3 cars outside, prioritising education/ career ober "goods," and seeming to want to be accepted I think the attitude is "welcome to the club buddy"
I'm not the ambassador for the irish middle class though so perhaps that's just how I see it.

RealTopekaPeople · 16/10/2023 17:08

She is really annoying IMO. She comes across as very smug, and has gone a long way on almost zero talent. I don't like either of the Beckhams but at least David is talented in one thing at least.

RealTopekaPeople · 16/10/2023 17:10

Anyotherdude · 06/10/2023 11:30

Many people have the inclination to lazily hate those that are beautiful, successful and seem to have their sh1t in order, though!
I’ve liked her and DB since they took it upon themselves to turn up, unannounced, on Christmas Day to give presents to the children at GOSH before they got married.
All the hatred is just jealousy, IMO!

Not jealousy, no. Just irritation at worship of riches for their own sake and mediocre people being promoted as outstanding. Also, VB is not 'beautiful'. She has a pug like face and an anorexic body.

I agree. And She doesn’t really come across as someone who has their shit in order. What she should be praised for is the way that she has grabbed every opportunity that came her way as a result of being a Spice Girl ( they were great!) and as a result of being part of a Power couple because on her own there is no way she would have made it into the top 10 or run a fashion line. So I suppose I admire her for that because many would not have had the skill to capitalise on that.

Herekittycat · 20/10/2023 01:04

Maybe because she didn’t gaf about anyone when she decided to tell Dave she was pregnant, JUST BEFORE playing in the World Cup. You can’t honestly say you don’t believe that didn’t affect his game. In turn, THE game. In turn his life and happiness. She hurt so many people in so many ways, no amount of Karma will ever be enough. She should have been taking the blame. Publicly telling the ppl what she did and how it did affect his game. I can’t believe he stayed with her.

AllWeWantToDo · 20/10/2023 08:50

Bloody hell, all she did was tell him she was pregnant.

TaraRhu · 20/10/2023 12:10

AllWeWantToDo · 20/10/2023 08:50

Exactly ! She thought he'd be excited and happy! Why not blame Simeone? He dived. The ref was harsh. Why not blame Glen hodfle for shoving him under a bus? Or all thos England fans who abused him for years after?

That stress can't have been easy for her. Either. If anything I think db is a bit needy . Can't play football without his mummy and daddy watching??
