Temu tat

What stupid things have you bought?

I avoided it for so long then I got distracted by organisers and getting my life sorted so I started clicking away. Ended up with lots of tat that is just adding to the crap I’m trying to organise.

Got these drawers, thinking they would do as a bedside cabinet for DD. Clearly didn’t give the size and looked bigger in the picture.

Temu tat

Nothing.
Unethical and supports child slave labour.

AllWeWantToDo · 04/10/2023 19:17

Loads of stuff, covers for the sofas and dinning chairs, halloween stuff, storage stuff and pj's for me

LindorDoubleChoc · 04/10/2023 19:17

I don't buy tat from anyone and certainly wouldn't touch Temu with a bargepole.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 04/10/2023 19:20

Another one who doesn't buy from Temu. I'm trying to buy less overall so don't feel the need for disposable junk.

Bunnyannesummers · 04/10/2023 19:47

I’ve got some really good organisers - they’re exactly the same bar the logo as ones I’ve seen in nice high street shops but a third of the price

Nanny0gg · 04/10/2023 20:03

I wouldn't trust it with my data either

Zippedydoodahday · 04/10/2023 20:04

Nothing as I don't like to support modern slavery and child labour.

FredaFox · 04/10/2023 21:13

I've seen too many stories of them taking money from people's bank accounts to trust them plus I think it's also a lot of Ali express tat
I see shein in a similar way, cheap stuff from china, unethical and not environmentally friendly

MaraScottie · 04/10/2023 21:18

There is enough shite in Europe without shipping it all way across the world in a container.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 04/10/2023 21:43

I did exactly the same thing 😂

I got these things that stick on the wall to hold your broom etc. They came off and took the paint off.

I got some clips to hold phone chargers, they work ok.

A box that opens out like a sewing kit but it's tiny.

A fridge draw that was tiny.

I did get some sports gear that's ok 😂

MissDollyMix · 04/10/2023 21:46

I don’t mind a bit of tat but slave labour from concentration camps? That would be a no from me. The data harvesting issue should also be a concern. Hasn’t it been banned in some countries?

LouLou198 · 04/10/2023 21:56

Nothing! Aren't they known for selling your data?

UnhideMyGratitude · 04/10/2023 22:03

Temu use Uyghur Muslim slave labour. Please don’t support them by buying from them.

The items may be cheap to you but they have cost the blood and sweat of the slave workers.

This. Wouldn't buy anything from them.

Weloveflowerss · 04/10/2023 22:06

I’ve bought stuff from them, the same stuff is on Amazon for triple the price. So it’s unethical whatever way you buy it.

Starbeeees · 04/10/2023 22:06

Staying well clear of Temu personally, we’d all be doing each other a favour if we all took a stance and didn’t support it

Justaredherring · 04/10/2023 22:08

Oh shit. I’d never heard of them then was looking for some themed paper plates for a child’s party and bought some with cups etc. Hasn’t arrived yet. Will it be shit? And feeing awful now supporting dodgy company :(

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 04/10/2023 22:08

Genuine question - when the stuff is identical on amazon, what is the proof that you are not just buying slave labour products from amazon, but with their added middle-man mark up?

GettingStuffed · 04/10/2023 22:11

I agree with a previous poster who said there's the same stuff on Amazon for three times the price. I bought a really nice lace dress from there only to find an identical on on a fashion retailer's site.

The main crap are plastic things you put on your fingers when you paint them to stop you painting the skin.

Tiredjoanna · 04/10/2023 22:12

@RubaiyatOfAnyone good question. But everyone will just say oh no Amazon's a proper company, they wouldn't partake in that kind of thing🤔

MoiraRosesBaybay · 04/10/2023 22:16

I don’t but from them but can anyone link to the slave labour etc accusations?

WeWereInParis · 04/10/2023 22:24

Weloveflowerss · 04/10/2023 22:06

You could not buy it?

Temu isn't selling essentials, it's not like there's no way round it if it was something you cared about.

Does anyone seriously look at the plastic tat and weird items on Amazon and think that they're a sensible company? People use it because of the variety, not for ethics

Tiredjoanna · 04/10/2023 22:32

@SideBob bingo! 😁

Exactly, and some of it is on Pinterest too
