To think that 14 year olds don’t need educated on sex positions?

My dd doesn’t want to go to school this afternoon as she is embarrassed to go to her sex education lesson. I spoke to her about how it was good that young people were being taught about sex and she went into more detail about why she is uncomfortable.
Last week they discussed sexual positions and different ways to have sex including anal. She was mortified and said she doesn’t mind knowing about sex (we’ve always been honest about the birds and the bees from a young age anyway) but she finds this awkward and far too much information about which she has absolutely no interest currently.

I am no prude, but was quite shocked at the detail being discussed and agree with her it’s unnecessary for this age group.

Ds was taught about anal sex in primary school. I was surprised but do not find it abusive sex.

Have you read it? I'm just about to.

I need to google more extensively but I can't find any information about it being used for younger children, story time, or anything similar. Just outcry over it being in the libraries of high schools and some middle schools.

You won't find the stories on Google. You won't find the stories on any mainstream outlets, because they, like you, are insisting this isn't happening and that's why it's SO wrong for parents to have any knowledge of what is being taught to children at schools. Parents are being told the curriculum is none of our business and the US DOJ has declared that parents who attend school board meetings to discuss curriculum, secret gender transitions, grooming and sexual abuse in schools are domestic terrorists. There is video, audio and confessions on TikTok that teachers are doing this, and then you all insist it never happens but there's nothing wrong with it.

Now tell me that I'm just a conspiracy theorist and this isn't happening, but if it is, it's good, and it's not happening but it's good that it is.

But you have solid proof, I'm sure. No?

JazbayGrapes · 05/10/2023 15:32

I'm with the OP completely. i think sex shouldn't be schools' jurisdiction at all, besides biology

There would be complaints on google about it. Seriously, Google aren't spending their time deleting comments and websites that talk about 6 year olds being taught how to give blow jobs. I tried 2 other search engines too.
There are many discussions about it being in middle school / high school libraries and getting it banned. Also discussion of trying to get in banned in Australia. There is absolutely NO evidence of it being available to younger students, or used for kindergarten story time or anything of the sort. There are a few message board responses along the lines of "I was told by my cousins next door neighbours friend.. that it's being taught to children" but no a single piece of evidence from someone who has actually witnessed it.

I've also just finished reading the book.

OK. It's not a book I would find appropriate for under 10 or 12 year olds. I didn't see where it taught how to give a blow job, though oral sex and same sex is referred to. I think it's perfectly appropriate for high school in UK. And aside from the sex, it uses language that younger kids simply wouldn't understand yet. It was written for young adults, marketed to young adults and even has an 18+ rating on Amazon.

justteanbiscuits · 05/10/2023 15:45

@HoneyBadgerMom I also ask again, have you read the book?

So every single news outlet and website is lying about it, just like every single news outlet and website is lying about what the abortion laws in Texas are. Its almost like you can make up anything and when people ask you for evidence just say "everyone is lying it except me!" 🤣🤠

Sorry, I didn't answer. I haven't read the whole book, I've read excerpts of it. It's available at the bookstores all over (which is fine, it should be, and disproves the lies that it's been "banned.") Even the author said it wasn't for children, and yet, it's there in the elementary school library.

Sure, love, wanting kids to be safe and understand what they're seeing makes me a groomer 🤣

No
I
Have
Not
Said
That

Acknowledge SOME kids are having sex at 14 isn't wanting them ALL to have sex at 14
Telling them they need to be careful when approaching anal sex isn't teaching them to be good at anal sex

And where the actual fuck has anyone said its ok for them to have sex with adults????

I'm calling you homophobic because your ONLY book that's being inappropriately taught is a book called Gender Queer and you're basically acting like mentioning gay people and transpeople is what causes kids to be gay or trans...

Nowhere have I suggested gay people are pedophiles?

You're stretching more than Mr Fantastic at this point

My replies are being deleted, so I assume Mumsnet has decided that pornography belongs in the schools and it's good to teach little children to have sex.

There is far cry between acknowledging that some families have two moms or two dads (like we talked about with my son when his school friends had same sex parents) and showing them graphic images of sex. I see where you fall on that spectrum, we must push them into being trans or you will scream homophobia.

Arguable how much tiktok and racist tabloids count as news. I'm surprised you're on mumsnet, its far outside your little bubble. I'd have thought something like gab or truth social would be more your style.

And I have read the Texas abortion law, thanks.

montysma1 · 05/10/2023 15:08

What my kids are taught in school is gross. I actually think the guidance teacher gets off on it. Anal, group sex, arse licking.

All this does is normalise stuff that's really only common in porn. Presenting it in a school setting makes it "normal", which in turn becomes "expected" by the boys. And as usual, it's the girls who are pressured and objectified.

Best thing we can teach young girls is " fuck off".

This is going back quite some years now but when I was at school we were show a variety of the different forms of contraception. Amought the list was the dental dam (I think that's what it's called?) and we're taught this could be used for practices such as 'arse licking.' I can only speak for myself, but the fact this it was mentioned didn't make me what to grab my boyfriend and go and try - in fact the thought was (and still is) repulsive to me.

It really isn't about teaching the children how to do something or telling them they should all be sexually liberated at 14, but it's about awareness. If you are going to lick someone's anus, please do it safely.

Yeah, maybe somewhere else, like Parler or VNN, would allow you to call people groomers for disagreeing with you.

I have seen the videos, yes. But as has been explained, if the video doesn't support your worldview, it's not "real." It's only "real" if it aligns with your politics.

But she is allowed to call me "homophobic" for disagreeing with her, right? It's ok for leftists to call names, but the minute someone does it back they are deleted. You can dish it out, but you certainly can't take it.

hadaye · 05/10/2023 19:48

If they're not reporting what you want reported, they're not "real" news, the only "real" news is what supports your political views.

Right back at ya. If they're not far right they can't be real news to you, right?

So why not provide links to these videos?

These were videos of actual teachers in schools reading the book to elementary school children I presume. Not just random people ranting to camera.

Frankly, you're behaving like a complete berk, deliberately twisting a PPs posts and comparing her to a paedophile. And then you get all hissy fit because you rightly get your posts deleted for it.

If you want a serious discussion, have one. Don't make shit up to stir and then complain when the consequences bite you on the arse.
