To intensely dislike Keir Starmer

1000 replies

LemonyTicket · 27/09/2023 00:42

I can't stand Tories.
The current Tories are the worst

But I still intensely dislike Keir Starmer and will probably vote Green.

I find him phony, with no vision, like a terrible 6th form prefect. And to be honest his whole front bench are dreadful. Wes Streeting nauseates me.

Is it just me?

Stop Oil donations God helps us.

anotherside · 27/09/2023 07:38

@Lastchancechica

We want a strong, decisive leader with gravitas that is in touch with…

Erm no. We need a break from Tory policies that have been wrecking the country since 2010, or going back further, since the 1980s.

And I’ll see your “strong” and “decisive” which are absolutely disastrous qualities for a politician to have when the polices are wrong and swap those for COMPETENT.

tpxqi · 27/09/2023 07:38

Tenashelflife · 27/09/2023 07:26

Seriously- go and talk to them. Go to a Tory conference and then go to a Labour conference. Unless you're completely evil, stupid or a titled lord, I guarantee you will be a Labour voter after that.

With rabid supporters like you, they don’t need adversaries.

Keep going. People like you do a mighty fine job of putting people off voting labour.

Lastchancechica · 27/09/2023 07:38

Why ANY woman would vote to be erased is beyond me. Turkeys voting for Christmas.

We are back to square one with women’s rights and Starmer refuses to even see us.

Upsizer · 27/09/2023 07:39

ilovesooty · 27/09/2023 05:23

Exactly. Depressing thread. No wonder the Tories have been free for so long to enact the policies we have.

Exactly this. The Tories don’t ACTUALLY give a flying shit about women: they just say whatever will get them votes. They only really care about being in power so they can maintain the status quo of siphoning wealth to the already wealthy.

So I assume everyone who is picking apart the opposition is happy for this to continue and is either wealthy or stupid. Fair enough I guess.

CurlewKate · 27/09/2023 07:40

@NowWhattt "I loathe him too. I also cannot quite get over the fact that he was Corbyn’s right hand man."

No he wasn't

sep135 · 27/09/2023 07:40

I'm a lifelong Conservative voter but I like Keir Starmer. I think he's a decent man and he ran rings round Boris in PMQs.

Not a great leader in terms of his decisiveness but he has a difficult job balancing the more militant Labour financial backers with the rest of the party.

NashvilleQueen · 27/09/2023 07:41

Anyone who approaches the next election with anything other than 'vote to get the Tories out' is insane in my view.

The Tories are very happy for you to vote green as an alternative as it helps them along the road.

algasport · 27/09/2023 07:41

Women and girl's rights are not a single issue.
Trans activists have inserted themselves into every aspect of our lives.
If you have daughters and granddaughters think very carefully before voting for Starmer.
There is still time for him to clarify his party's policies.

tpxqi · 27/09/2023 07:42

We don’t need charismatic people like Boris or ‘decent’ people like Keir Starmer.

We need competent people who get things done. Whether you like it or not, they tell you where they stand and get things done. And that, by the way, is a million miles from where Rishi is. The guy has the backbone of a jelly.

Fistralstorm · 27/09/2023 07:44

Everyone I know hates The Tories and also dislikes Keir Starmer.

He's not very popular at all.

CapEBarra · 27/09/2023 07:45

Given the shower of absolute bastarding chaotic evils we’ve had to put up with over the last few years I’d vote for anyone with a decent chance of getting rid of them and their corrupt hangers on. I don’t care if Kier Starmer isn’t Bruce Springsteen. If anything, I’m hoping for a bit of peace, some common sense, and a lot less dog whistling at the Daily Heil readers.

MerryMarigold · 27/09/2023 07:45

Bingbangbongbash · 27/09/2023 07:12

You can’t get over him working with Corbyn, the then leader of his party, and whom he has all but chucked under a bendy bus since?

But you can get over the trashing of our economy, dismantling of the NHS, cost of living crisis set against horrific cuts in benefits, profligate waste of billions of tax payer’s money and slashing of our commitments to green policies?

How baffling your priorities are to me.

👏👏 Exactly!

At some point people have to realise you will never love everything about someone - not even your own husband!

Stop picking on minor rubbish and get some priorities.

Trickytimer · 27/09/2023 07:45

Seaitoverthere · 27/09/2023 04:36

It’s going to be like the Brexit vote all over again where it is clear that another term of Tories would be a complete disaster for the country but we end up with them because Keir had a beer and doesn’t know what a woman is.

I’ve given up on this country and will sit back and watch it play out knowing I haven’t paid a part in the clusterfuck it is and continue to be and moan like fuck knowing it’s nothing to do with me.

I have a horrible feeling your right

anotherside · 27/09/2023 07:45

if I lived in a swing seat if hold my nose and vote Labour. They don’t really represent my values, but another Tory government would have real life consequences for millions upon millions who - are struggling to make ends meet because of Tory policy, or who can’t afford to buy or rent because of Tory policy, or who can’t see a doctor because of Tory policy, or whose kids won’t be getting a decent education due to Tory policy …

and on and on. At this juncture anybody who is enabling the Tories after how they have destroyed this country since 2010 (and decades previous of course) has seriously questionable moral values.

Majority of schools looking at redundancies due to funding crisis, largest survey of school leaders shows

I am really mad - deeply angry.

Starmer is relying on the STUPIDITY of women to vote for him anyway - despite the fact he is entirely indifferent to our rights, identity and vulnerabilities ( in hospitals, toilets etc) he couldn’t care less about our safety, dignity and right to play sport, get changed safely, go to a rape centre for support.

I feel utterly disregarded by Starner as a woman. As a mother with two daughters there is NO way I intend to vote against their interests.

Strangely the forum always goes deathly silent with Labour supporters whenever this is raised, because it is indefensible. It is utterly unforgivable.

The Tories never ever had any plans to expand ULEZ! Why do you think they won Johnson’s old seat in the elections? Despite London being a Labour stronghold?

Its the lies you come out with that is so disturbing.

No one but Labour are considering charging motorists by the mile.

No one but Labour are expanding ULEZ. It has nothing to do with the air quality, which has already been disproven, and everything to do with stealth taxes on hard working Londoners. This is going to be rolling out everywhere in the country under Labour so watch out.

Dale Vince who started just stop oil ( mainly to support his own ‘Green’ business initiatives in the Cotswolds, which have failed spectacularly but hey ho) who I know personally has donated millions to the Labour Party!

The Woke agenda is Labours devotion to trans, its lack of understanding and respect for women. Its economy ruining green policies is grossly out of touch with anyone outside the enclave of north London.

Labour accepted 1.5 million from just stop oil. Do you suppose they don’t expect a return for the money?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-65764041.amp

Let’s break it down.

ULEZ, a Tory idea, possibly inspired by another Tory idea, the congestion charge, was implemented by Labour. The expansion was implemented by Labour to tackle pollution and help balance the books after the Tories became one of only a few central governments in the western world not to put any money into its capital city’s public transport network.

The ULEZ has already been shown to have improved air quality. Plenty of studies linked here https://www.lse.ac.uk/granthaminstitute/news/the-truth-about-londons-ultra-low-emission-zone/

Uxbridge has never been a Labour seat, and although Labour didn’t win, they slashed the majority. Don’t forget, the by election was called because Johnson was forced to resign after a series of sleazy scandals. Hardly an example of why to vote Tory, is it?

Dale Vince is a businessman who started a green energy company - Ecotricity - and gives donations to a wide range of groups that are fighting to stop climate change. This includes Just Stop Oil. He did not start Just Stop Oil.

Over the last 10 years he’s given Labour £1.5m, so on average £150k a year. That’s approximately what the Russian oligarch’s wife gave. I know who I’d rather support.

Anti-trans discussions on MN are too tedious, but Labour have promised to protect single sex spaces.

On the other hand, Tories have overseen austerity and social policies that disproportionately affect women and mothers, increased inequality, increased the number of children living in poverty, done nothing to address the gender pay gap and destroyed the education system where schools are literally crumbling around kids. VAWG is at an all time high, prosecutions against perpetrators at an all time low.

Tories might know the definition of a woman but they only learnt it so they could make sure they fuck them good and proper. LOLZ at the idea that Tories respect women.

The truth about London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone - Grantham Research Institute on climate change and the environment

As London prepares for the expansion next week of the Ultra Low Emission Zone, Bob Ward dispels the myths around this policy, explaining its origins, the thinking behind the expansion and the links between air pollution and health.

HeadNorth · 27/09/2023 07:47

I'll take Keir Starmer over Patrick Harvie, leader of the Greens in Scotland. Harvie is an obsessed, foaming at the mouth woman hater who doesn't actually seem to give a shit about the environment. It worries me people will tick 'Green' thinking it is a nice safe protest vote, and be unknowingly supporting a party that is more concerned about destroying society than protecting the environment.

Women’s rights and identity is ‘minor’ rubbish to be picked over….and you wonder why Labour have a problem??

Syndulla · 27/09/2023 07:48

I think it's hilarious that so many people think the Tories are a better alternative because "they know what a woman is".

All this self ID stuff happened under the Tories.

The collapse of rape convictions happened under the Tories:

"For victims, reporting rape is effectively a lottery and the odds are rarely in your favour. In the year to December 2021, there were 67,125 rape offences recorded – an all-time high. Yet the number of completed rape prosecutions plummeted from 5,190 in 2016-17 to just 2,409 in 2020-21. The numbers of convictions almost halved (2,689 in 2016/17 compared to 1,409 in 2020/21). Only 5% of rapes that were given an outcome by the police in the year ending December 2021 resulted in a charge."

https://victimscommissioner.org.uk/news/the-distressing-truth-is-that-if-you-are-raped-in-britain-today-your-chances-of-seeing-justice-are-slim/

A million more children are now living in poverty since 2010, and as women are the primary care givers, this isn't good news for us either.

But yes, please do vote for the Tories as their ability to define a woman will definitely make your lives better.

The distressing truth is that if you are raped in Britain today, your chances of seeing justice are slim - Victims Commissioner

The Tories have literally sold the country out from under us over the last 45 years, and most voters have applauded it as long as the Tory tabloids continue to throw up a new hate group (single mothers, working class benefit cheats, immigrants, woke Labour voters, environmental activists) every few years.

I’m not silent on those issues but they are actually nothing to do with government and all to do with service providers and local policies, including NHS hospital trusts and sporting bodies. I know this as I’ve worked writing them.
