To intensely dislike Keir Starmer

1000 replies

LemonyTicket · 27/09/2023 00:42

I can't stand Tories.
The current Tories are the worst

But I still intensely dislike Keir Starmer and will probably vote Green.

I find him phony, with no vision, like a terrible 6th form prefect. And to be honest his whole front bench are dreadful. Wes Streeting nauseates me.

Is it just me?

@YouSetTheTone nope, I move in very mixed circles. Including trans people and non binary people. None of them give a shit about me saying I am a woman. Because they aren't extremists. Your statement about Keir Starmer's hypothetical response were I to say 'I'm a woman ' to him is laughable.

I said if you said ‘I am a woman, an adult human female’ he would disagree with your definition because it has been declared ‘transphobic’. He has gone on record saying that some women have penises.

YouSetTheTone · 28/09/2023 15:23

It’s also ‘not right’ to say only women have a cervix according to Starmer.
My argument that he would police your language around defining yourself as a woman can be backed up multiple times in the press.

Well, it’s not. Trans men have cervixes.

We don’t breastfeed, we ‘chestfeed’

The NHS has a breastfeeding guide.

https://www.nhs.uk/start-for-life/baby/feeding-your-baby/breastfeeding/

Does prostate cancer literature carefully remove the words ‘man/ men’?

No and neither does breast cancer literature.

www.nhs.uk/conditions/breast-cancer/#:~:text=Symptoms%20of%20breast%20cancer&text=You%20should%20also%20see%20a,in%20either%20of%20your%20armpits

This was changed back thanks to relentless campaigning by organisations like Sex Matters.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-12116137/When-NHS-recognise-women-menopause.html

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12451335/NHS-accused-trying-erase-women-trusts-Rainbow-Badge-scheme-hospitals.html

Steve Barclay ordered that all NHS guidance for women was returned to biological reality. So you may not have noticed, but it has changed back recently.

Before anyone says ‘classic Daily Mail’, it’s the easiest to link as it’s paywall free.

When WILL the NHS recognise only women go through the menopause?

Women's rights campaigners have bemoaned Health Secretaries failures to reverse the female erasing gender-neutral language changes made to the NHS menopause page.

@YouSetTheTone if I were speaking to KS it wouldn't be an issue because I would be talking about the economy, the environment, education, health, housing and our relationship with the EU. You know, little niche issues that don't affect many people. Not the Ultimate Overarching Priority that is the trans issue.

helford · 28/09/2023 15:39

@IdleAnimations Barclay may have had the guidance changed on language but the language changed under a Tory health minister in the first place.

they allowed this debacle to happen, the way its portrayed is Labour were in power but the Tories saved us all!

Respectfully, my disabled mother requires same sex care. She’s also a rape survivor and we were in a rape crisis centre when I was a child temporarily. So to some of us, this is an incredibly important subject. It must be nice for you but do try and remember other members of your sex are often in need of their sex based rights.

Transmen are women. Only women have cervixes.
It is not hate to say this. It is not wrong to be factual about basic biology.
You have just proved my point about people having to dance around what a woman is in case it causes offence.

EasternStandard · 28/09/2023 15:43

I’ve seen the ‘both sides’ argument on here before from TRAs

When the 70 year old woman was punched in the face a fair few posters said the same, a Labour MP said similar

Women not giving consent and merely speaking is not equivalent to male violence and threats

6 week wait for ANY form of at home care in my area, 100s of care packages returned.
My neighbour, in her 80s, with Parkinsons, cannot get the 4 x daily care visits she needs, its 2 or nothing and the idea of getting same sex care is an impossibility, so she gets care from whoever is available, male or female and its personal care too, not cooking her meal.

Rape and DV refuge's have been cut over the last decade or so, 50% of women (biological women) ringing up for help and advice don't even get their calls answered.

These are the things that matter to most people.

You don’t think your sex (and ability to define yourself as such sex accurately) feeds into conversations around: education (programmes designed to level the playing field in education, single sex provisions in schools, the fact gender neutral loos negatively affect girls); the economy (childcare? Gender pay gap? Pensions and how women are affected by being in the workplace less then men due to childbearing etc); health (single sex hospital wards, sex differences in different health conditions, sex differences in how bodies respond to medication, maternity provisions etc); housing (benefits designed to support women who are disproportionately responsible for raising children in single parent households)?

A prime minister who cannot accurately define a woman, or isn’t prepared to respect her rights and boundaries will not be advocating sufficiently for the female sex across major policy areas.

You don't have to be a TRA to find some of the speech on both sides toxic.

  • IF you tell us a male will be attending her when she’s in hospital when family can’t be there - we can make a choice. If we are being lied to that a female is coming who isn’t - that’s different. But thank you for also being compassionate that my mum was a survivor and a man touching her private’s could be deeply traumatic… naturally I’m being sarcastic.
  • Rape centres have been cut, but they also now allow men with their full appendages in which isn’t focusing their reduced funds on who they were set up for. Let alone the trauma inflicted on the women who’ve already been through hell.
  • The Scottish rape Center has a TW who lied about being female at the helm. This same person told rape victims to reframe their trauma around penises. https://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/19509343.outcry-plan-educate-bigoted-rape-survivors-trans-rights/

But I know I know, I just shouldn’t care about that and stop being silly. Unfortunately I won’t because I grew up seeing the damage that can be done by men in my own mothers face.

Outcry over plan to educate ‘bigoted’ rape survivors about trans rights

THE head of one of Scotland’s biggest rape crisis centres has suggested “bigoted” rape survivors should be re-educated about transgender…

I first came across Keir Starmer when he was DPP. His views and opions were incredibly reasonable and well thought out. I don't necessarliy think he's the best leader that there is but he's a decent man. I hate the Tories so much that I'd rather a decent man tbh. Tories are vile.

This is my opinion. He used to do quite a lot of unpaid work in an effort to help those who needed legal representation. He appears vey much the serious legal mind and not given to the egotistical showmanship antics which please so many voters. I find the Liberals underwhelming, the Greens hampered by a restricted single issue and the Tories incompetent and corrupt.

There hasn’t been a prime minister in my lifetime (I’m 70) who’s done that, not even or especially the women - Thatcher hated women and May introduced self ID.

We didn’t have to define basic human knowledge until 2016 when Stonewall started their war on gender.

In all of these examples women are disproportionately affected.
**
Women are impacted by declining services in health care and rape crisis centres more than men.
If your elderly neighbour is a man he is less vulnerable to intimate care being provided by the opposite sex.

Men are less likely to be affected by rape crisis centres closing because the vast majority of victims of sexual assault are women.

Teddleshon · 28/09/2023 16:01

I don’t recall That her advocating for men to have access to women’s spaces or sports.

EasternStandard · 28/09/2023 16:01

Is a woman wanting single sex rape support ‘toxic’?

Or no male bodies in female sports

Or clear language

Maybe posters can say what they’d do differently

What do women say that you find toxic?

I've seen plenty of posts from women on this issue that I find toxic. I really don't want to get into the specifics of them. I've read the Feminism boards now and again and the posts there tell me they're not somewhere I'd want to spend my time.

That’s not what the point I addressed said. In any event, May was PM from 2016 to 2019 - not much advocacy there. Quite the reverse.

A shame for you maybe, since it seems you want to debate the issue with me.

I've made my position clear, I think, in terms of what I feel the priorities are for the next government. Yours aren't the same as mine, which I respect.

Have a pleasant afternoon.
