To intensely dislike Keir Starmer

1000 replies

LemonyTicket · 27/09/2023 00:42

I can't stand Tories.
The current Tories are the worst

But I still intensely dislike Keir Starmer and will probably vote Green.

I find him phony, with no vision, like a terrible 6th form prefect. And to be honest his whole front bench are dreadful. Wes Streeting nauseates me.

Is it just me?

Labour are notoriously terrible with the country’s economics. Pouring money we don’t have into substandard public services.

Sadly for you the facts don’t support your argument. But you don’t care about facts, do you?

Remember Liz Truss? Just saying

Not a single post in 30plus pages can point out a SINGLE benefit to voting for labour. Not one.

Even the diehards are stumped.

What hasn’t yet dawned on them - is most likely things will get even WORSE.

helford · 28/09/2023 09:27

Funny that NHS waiting lists under Blair were about 1m, but pre Covid, under the Tories 3.6m and now almost 8m.

Nurses under Blair could train for free, so we had little in the way of staffing issues... Tories changed that and now we have 35k nurse vacancies.

short term savings, long term cost.

The country’s already convinced. Labour’s 20 points ahead in the polls and has been for over a year. Tory MPs are openly admitting the next election is lost and over 50 are standing down. Things can’t get worse.

Open doors migration and appeasing the EU is where Keir is headed, and he is already there.

He is preparing to throw this country under the bus to suck up to macron and ‘reset’ relations with the EU in hope he can reopen the brexit deal and water it down.
It’s obvious what his intentions are.
The fact we have run out of housing stock and the infrastructure is falling over is irrelevant to him.

We are in big trouble if people can’t see this.

This is globally mortifying - Starm scraping with his begging bowl in France this month. Just shows he has no confidence in the U.K.

ULEZ and the Labour plan to roll this out across the country, piloted in London is another tax on WORKING people.

From the London Economic

This is not the first-time the government has had to be reminded of its seemingly selective memory. A leaked letter penned by then transport secretary Grant Shapps revealed the government had urged Khan to extend the capital’s current congestion charge zone in 2020 as a condition for funding public transport.

ULEZ was also Boris Johnson's idea when he was Mayor.

It’s going to be shit whoever gets in. Everything is crumbling and there’s no money. Plus we have more people in the country every year to share what we have with.

Labour are notoriously terrible with the country’s economics. Pouring money we don’t have into substandard public services.

And why don’t we have the money? Because Margaret Thatcher broke the link between taxes and decent public services, so that it’s now impossible to have a grown up conversation about income tax.

Teateaandmoretea · 28/09/2023 09:39

I think until people see that this ridiculous political divide of ‘it’s labour’s fault’ v ‘it’s the Tories fault’ is actually fruitless as they’ve both done things wrong and been shit we are stuffed personally.

Our biggest political problem is the division and instability caused by our first past the post political system.

helford · 28/09/2023 09:41

@Lastchancechica Hang on you are now saying Labour want Open Doors immigration but just few posts ago linked to Labour demands to limit migration????

One reason for me to vote Labour is closer ties with EU, match their standards on pesticides and environmental protections, instead with the Tories we get routine discharge of shit into rivers and 34 pesticides banned in the EU, allowed in the UK.

TBF the Tories have got a 30 year plan to reduce shit pumped into the sea and rivers... which we will pay for through higher bills, not lower dividends.

Acheyknees · 28/09/2023 09:43

I think the biggest issue is the lack of genuine talent in our elected representatives whichever party they represent. Starmer, OK bloke but no leader. Labour are ahead in the polls because the Tories are so bad. Not because of their policies, leadership or shadow front bench. Where are the likes of Straw, Cook, Blair, Brown? The Shadow front bench are instantly forgettable. Until politics attracts more quality candidates we're not going to get inspirational leaders. Saying that, it's entirely understandable why no one wants to go into politics.

EasternStandard · 28/09/2023 09:43

We had a boom and buying stuff on HP but one thing that made it harder was higher risk exposure via FS

It felt good on the up, but the crash was big on the way down

It’s better to look forward though as the conditions now are different to then and I haven’t heard anything from Labour to suggest more funding will be in the offing. They’re quite confident when criticising but it gets more difficult to answer plainly and clearly on the funding issue.

These days you have to tolerate huge amounts of abuse online and on Twitter. That wasn’t the case in the past and it skews the people who are willing to stand.

As a result they are generally highly arrogant often with some kind of personality disorder.

BIossomtoes · 28/09/2023 09:49

This - from The Telegraph - is interesting. I’d have linked but it’s behind a firewall.

The Conservative Party does not “deserve” to win the next election, long-time Tory donor Lord Harris of Peckham has said, just weeks after he donated £5,000 to Rachel Reeves.

^The Carpetright founder and Conservative peer said he had lost faith in the ability of the party to govern following a series of policy disappointments.
He told the Telegraph: “The whole situation in politics at the moment is very damaging to the UK.^

“Does a Party like the Conservatives, with what they have done in the last three years, deserve to get back [in power], I don’t think so.

“You can’t think of many good things that the Conservatives have done and stuck to. At the last election, they said they were going to open 40 new hospitals in the next five years. Where are they?”

Of course she does. @Lastchancechica and her daughters had their lives enhanced by her rise to power. 🤣

BloodyHellKen · 28/09/2023 09:51

Blimey, I know Kier Starmer has a track record for doing an about turn but this one has really taken me by surprise - on BBC website - Labour drops plan to strip public schools of charitable status 😳

It seems like only yesterday on the Today programme a Labour person was defending this policy, oh hang on, it was yesterday 😂

IClaudine · 28/09/2023 09:53

AcheykneesI agree.

But Labour are going to flatten the Tories anyway. No amount of Tory shilling on MN will change that. Can't wait to see the likes of Gullis and 30p get their bigoted arses booted out. Is there any hope of the arch bigot Braverman losing her seat?

ElsieMc · 28/09/2023 09:55

Haven't read the full thread but I find him meh. My DH loathes him but cannot give a cogent reason for his level of hatred. But he has been a civilian with a real job.

Most telling moment of the week was Andy Burnham on GMTV on Monday. When it was put to him that many Labour MPs would prefer to ditch KS in favour of AB, there was a tell tale smile before he reverted to the party line. It was quite obvious he knew about this. He also knows about HS2 already.

AB comes across as confident, happy and much more genuine but of course I am a northerner. But he is only all of this because he has a job he covets already. I don't particularly think he would make a good Prime Minister.

For the poster upthread who suggested Kathy Burke for PM, you already have her in the Deputy PM. Sorry Kathy.

A Tory plant, Jesus, I've heard it all now 😂

He's controlled opposition. When Murdoch supports him, that's a top clue.

ilovesooty · 28/09/2023 10:01

As for the Shadow Cabinet, I think Rachel Reeves and Yvette Cooper are more credible than anyone on the Conservative front bench.

I do agree though that in general the talent of years gone by isn't there. Of course Johnson purged a lot of it.

IClaudine · 28/09/2023 10:02

Lastchancechica · 28/09/2023 09:13

Secondly this IS the Labour pledge to build on Greenberg Helford. You are out of step with your own party.

Labour’s answer to the housing issue is to build all over the green belt. They live in north London so couldn’t care less about wildlife, diversity or green space.

Fuck knows what this country will look like in 5 years if Labour get in.

A massive concrete island of obscenely ugly houses and millions and millions of economic migrants openly waved through. And you actually think your quality of life is going to improve??

How in gods name can it possibly improve??

I don’t like him. He just comes across as a man without convictions. He’ll say things you can tell he blatantly does not believe, just because that lobby group are shouting loudly.

I won’t vote for him.

At least I knew what Tony Blair stood for. At least he had a clear vision and conviction. I don’t see that in KS.

To be fair, lacking conviction seems to be a prerequisite for becoming PM at the moment.
