To intensely dislike Keir Starmer

1000 replies

LemonyTicket · 27/09/2023 00:42

I can't stand Tories.
The current Tories are the worst

But I still intensely dislike Keir Starmer and will probably vote Green.

I find him phony, with no vision, like a terrible 6th form prefect. And to be honest his whole front bench are dreadful. Wes Streeting nauseates me.

Is it just me?

@Lastchancechica So you were wrong about dental fees and dental care is a huge issue for the general population, esp children plus YOU were the one that raised it....

Labour have not offered to take in more migrants, more lies. Its the Cons that have seen uncontrolled immigration into the UK, even higher than EU migration in the early 2000s.

Council housing is the only way forward, private rents are too high for most and house prices are way above "affordable" if the target is 250k houses per year, why not 150k as council houses? which we manage without building on green belt....

its not rocket science, well, it might be for some!

Tories always end up using words like "deluded" and are desperate to keep us all believing there is no alternative, so like the lemmings you obviously think we are, we'll vote the Cons back in again.

ilovesooty · 28/09/2023 08:51

When a general election is called manifestos will be published and both sides set out their policies.

Labour can't control the date of that given that the Conservatives still have a majority.

Of course, the Conservatives have never gone back on anything in their manifesto... oh hang on 🤣

bombastix · 28/09/2023 08:54

The next election is either May or September in all likelihood. Sunak has a lot of ground to cover in a short amount of time.

I don't think he manage it myself.

Lastchancechica · 28/09/2023 08:43

Your obsession with dental care is an issue for you. Labour are not even offering any changes to dental care so what is your point?? You are derailing the thread with your shit teeth issues.

Housing IS a major issue in this country though. Space and housing. So why on earth do Labour supporters continue to support uncontrolled immigration? Labour have offered to take MORE migrants! How can it possibly be the case, as we both agree, that lack of housing is a major problem then make the problem even worse!!!

Can you not see for most coherent voters this does not make any sense whatsoever!

In the next breath Labour say they will build all over the green belt, but even if it happens (the court battles will go on for years) those houses won’t be ready for years and years. The housing issue will become even more acute.

Anyone seriously considering voting for Labour to achieve a BETTER quality of life are quite frankly utterly deluded. Turkeys voting for Christmas.

The problem is that the country is in the shit and no one can do anything about it.

Previous labour government overspent leading to the Tories implementing 'austerity' which kind of worked in the short term but then had had huge long term negative consequences. Then the Tories spaffed billions and billions on Covid. During which time the population grew hugely, leading to a housing crisis and even more strain on public services. The housing crisis is dealt with by giving people benefits, which in turn pushes up rent and house prices meaning people in good jobs can't afford to live. And the government is constantly spending billions on subsidising landlords. In terms of ULEZ the country will collapse without the taxes on petrol/ diesel and emissions so quite clearly there will have to be some kind of tax on using the roads in an electric vehicle in the long term anyway.

And all the politicians do is scoff and heckle each other, which side are in will make no difference.

Teateaandmoretea · 28/09/2023 08:58

Agree, but only if we are able to control population growth.

Helford

Starmer announced last week that he will join the (failing) EU initiative to settle MORE migrants here.

How did you miss such a fundamental policy change:

https://news.sky.com/story/amp/labour-confirms-it-would-seek-eu-returns-deal-for-migrants-crossing-channel-sparking-tory-criticism-12960740

https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/sep/17/labour-will-not-say-how-many-migrants-it-would-accept-in-eu-returns-deal

Labour says it would be open to EU migrants quota - sparking Tory criticism

Nick Thomas-Symonds said Labour wanted to restore "management and control" to the immigration system - but the Tories accuse the party of wanting to "open the doors to 100,000 extra illegal migrants".

Lastchancechica · 28/09/2023 09:08

So how on earth does that sit with your housing protections??

helford · 28/09/2023 09:10

Err no he did not, he specifically said he would stay out of that scheme because its a scheme for EU members and the UK isn't a member and of course its not up to him which plan the UK may or not join... the EU have something to say about that.

Make your mind up, earlier you said Lab wanted an open borders policy, now you post links saying they dont.

Under the Tories, we had net migration of over 600k last year.

Lastchancechica · 28/09/2023 09:13

Secondly this IS the Labour pledge to build on Greenberg Helford. You are out of step with your own party.

Labour’s answer to the housing issue is to build all over the green belt. They live in north London so couldn’t care less about wildlife, diversity or green space.

Fuck knows what this country will look like in 5 years if Labour get in.

A massive concrete island of obscenely ugly houses and millions and millions of economic migrants openly waved through. And you actually think your quality of life is going to improve??

How in gods name can it possibly improve??

Labour will build on green belt to boost housing, Starmer says

Sir Keir Starmer has vowed to "back the builders not blockers" by building more homes on green belt land and bringing back housing targets.

Oh for heaven’s sake stop repeating this myth. There was a global economic crisis in 2008 in which the banks - which caused it - had to be bailed out to prevent the economy going down the Swanee. That’s where the money went. And any Tory with half a brain says austerity was ideological.

Nope Starmer most definitely said he wanted to join the EU migrant initiative. You have taken to openly lying and denying about this now, even though Starmer said it himself on every news channel, and it is black and bloody white.

STOP LYING.

You need to at least acknowledge this is a terrible idea of Labours. You can’t even bring yourself to acknowledge its even been said by none other than the leader of the Labour Party.

Immigration levels are high because we rightly accepted refugees from Afghanistan, families from Ukraine and Hong Kong. We have more than played out part in offering homes to those that really need them. Starmer is preparing to make the acute situation even worse.

It is just someone’s feelings on the matter that makes you uncomfortable because it’s another thing Labour have failed at?

It is so boring. Any time someone expresses a view immediately some bearded leftie screams daily Mail or Tory HQ 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s boring hearing the same daily mail crap doled out time after time too. By idiots who have been convinced by the press that trans women are a threat.

Bore off.

I was around in those times. I’ve been to events lasting several days and been wined and dined by the quangos courtesy of the taxpayer. To say that Labour didn’t waste money is frankly laughable.

Bullshit. Labour left us in financial dire straits in 2008.

helford · 28/09/2023 09:20

@Lastchancechica We already build on the Green belt, what do you think HS2 has gone through? or the numerous new towns & estates built in recent years under the tories.

I just think we should build council houses too, as part of the mix we already build not more houses.

However, its not my party, not a member and i don't agree with relaxing existing Green belt restrictions, we already seen dramatic loses in wildlife in this country.

Once again for the hard of reading, i don't think things will magically improve but the TOries have had their chance and must go.

Teateaandmoretea · 28/09/2023 09:21

And before you come back with the obvious retort YES the Tories have been shit too!

Bullshit. Labour left us in financial dire straits in 2008.

No they didn't, debt to gdp was 65% its now 100%.

They had no choice but to bail out the banks, you re just showing a great deal of ignorance if you believe Labour were responsible.

Failure to support retail banking would have been disastrous for the UK.

I said not magically improve, not the same thing, pls read twice before replying?

Labour are notoriously terrible with the country’s economics. Pouring money we don’t have into substandard public services.
