To intensely dislike Keir Starmer

1000 replies

LemonyTicket · 27/09/2023 00:42

I can't stand Tories.
The current Tories are the worst

But I still intensely dislike Keir Starmer and will probably vote Green.

I find him phony, with no vision, like a terrible 6th form prefect. And to be honest his whole front bench are dreadful. Wes Streeting nauseates me.

Is it just me?

Frankly, you’re scared of the wrong thing. If a man wanted to attack a woman in the toilets he’d just walk in and do so. There is no need to identify as a woman to do that, there never has been.

It used to be acceptable to call out / report / physically remove (in extremis) a man from a women's toilet. Now you could be told you're committing a hate crime for even suggesting that the beardy bloke dressed in a man's suit isn't actually a woman.
Which circumstances are safer? Neither are totally safe, of course, that's a given, but I know which felt relatively safer.

I'm not scared. And I'm not sure why you have only latched on to that one issue, of all the issues I listed.

@PandaExpress Also, female only sport was designed to be inclusive. Because females were being excluded from “mens” sport. There needs to be a way for trans athletes to compete fairly, the answer is certainly not more and more binary attitudes to sport

Edited

They can either compete in the category that they were biologically born compete in. Or create a separate 'unisex' category. But letting those with male bodies, who have a physical advantage over females, compete in the female category, is just not on. Why should females athletes have to suffer?

Clavinova · 27/09/2023 20:39

Pieceofpurplesky
And as for a job - I am over 50 and an expensive teacher. Who knows how long I will last if the tories don't up the budgets

Starmer's £1.7bn a year to be raided from private schools is less than the £2bn a year bonus Jeremy Hunt gave schools in last year's Autumn Statement (raided from the foreign aid budget) - so don't hold your breath.

How does the term fairly apply to women who are asked to accept male bodies in their sports?

Lastchancechica · 27/09/2023 20:48

It feels like something has shifted in the wrong direction for Labour recently.

I don’t know if it’s the EU migrant deal, or saying he will reopen the brexit deal with the EU and seeing him rebuked publicly by then. Or too much television exposure and he isn’t going down well.

Something shifted.

BIossomtoes · 27/09/2023 20:53

Doesn’t look like much of a shift to me.

Something shifted, seriously shifted.

CurlewKate · 27/09/2023 20:55

@Clavinova "Starmer's £1.7bn a year to be raided from private schools"

All private schools had to do was behave like charities.

Wetandhorrible · 27/09/2023 20:56

Also, another point: him praising Drakeford in Wales dies not bode well from my point of view.

Lastchancechica · 27/09/2023 20:55

The only shift I can see is that a week ago the Tories went down another four points in the polls.

NeelyOHara1 · 27/09/2023 21:02

I recently saw an old interview with him before he became Labour leader and he came across as confident and sure of his position on the subject in hand. Hopefully if he attains PM status that assurance will re-emerge...

pointythings · 27/09/2023 21:02

@Lastchancechica unless you back your statement up with some data, I'm going to consider that wishful thinking.

She was probably inspired by Sunak scrapping all those policies he never had in the first place 🤣

bombastix · 27/09/2023 21:11

There has a very small shift in polling. It is certainly not any kind of sea change or massive wedge issue which I think was the objective.

Sunak needs four or five new initiatives to compete. He is running out of time.

I love the NHS.

The NHS is one of the reasons I won't vote Labour. Already almost 10% of the NHS is private partnerships...Wes Streeting has outright admitted they intend to extend that.

In my view this is a disastrous idea. We don't need private partnerships. 15 years ago when the NHS was fully public sector we had much better value and much better service.

The fact they're taking enormous donations from various private healthcare speaks for itself. Noses in the trough. If you think they don't personally profit, think again. Blair made himself a very rich man, as well as his kids.

And before you say "oh but we need private beds and staff" - of course we don't. Public sector can buy beds and hire staff! Most private doctors are NHS too! It's just a pretty pathetic way to hoodwink us into accepting profits in the NHS.

I really can't bring myself to vote for them I'm afraid. Policy wise they are to the right of David Cameron and look how that worked out.

We need sensible policies that are about people having okay lives - not this nauseating profiteering off absolutely EVERYTHING.

But then, what is the alternative?
I agree with much of what you say, but are we seriously to believe that the current shower of shit are somehow going to fix the NHS, having run it into the ground after 13 years?
Other posters are saying they will spoil their ballot, vote for neither. But in reality, this will not translate to the protest vote people imagine it to be. With the system that we have, if you don’t make a choice, a choice will simply be made for you.
I have no idea how a Labour government would turn out. But I would never, never vote for these Tories.

Well Conservatives shifted to become even more unpopular. Maybe that’s the shift the poster was referring to?

Just excessive daily mail vomit there 🙄

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 27/09/2023 21:45

I still haven’t got over a dental x ray being a luxury!

For the tooth root left behind after extraction
For ds’s wisdom tooth pre extraction
For seeing where the nerve lies or where there are problems under the gum.

All indulgent luxuries😂

LemonyTicket · 28/09/2023 03:15

!!!!Exclusive: Labour has U-turned on it's promise to end the charitable status of private schools!!!!!

I honestly think there's no point in Labour at all. Tories have become UKIP and Labour have become Tories.

It'll be 5 more years of the same no matter who wins the election

@LemonyTicket

All those scare quote exclamation marks don't convince me you are anything more than someone wanting to scupper the chance of a change of government.
Wonder why?🤔

It is just someone’s feelings on the matter that makes you uncomfortable because it’s another thing Labour have failed at?

It is so boring. Any time someone expresses a view immediately some bearded leftie screams daily Mail or Tory HQ 🤷🏼‍♀️
