To intensely dislike Keir Starmer

1000 replies

LemonyTicket · 27/09/2023 00:42

I can't stand Tories.
The current Tories are the worst

But I still intensely dislike Keir Starmer and will probably vote Green.

I find him phony, with no vision, like a terrible 6th form prefect. And to be honest his whole front bench are dreadful. Wes Streeting nauseates me.

Is it just me?

Well then you should pay for it. This endless stream of demands from the nanny state is too much. People have forgotten they are responsible for themselves.

X-rays are basic healthcare.

madamreign · 27/09/2023 18:22

@Lastchancechica

My grandparents didn't have antibiotics for the first two decades of life.

Thementalloadisreal · 27/09/2023 18:23

My grandparents went to work instead of school and their friends had polio. Nothing was better in the old days.

Teeth x ray a luxury🙄

Ive heard it all now. Only on MN

Of course it is: you can survive perfectly well with shit teeth.

You are astonishingly entitled to expect the tax payer to pay for absolutely everything.

Thementalloadisreal · 27/09/2023 18:24

Also, I don’t care that he said a woman can have a penis, why does that matter.

I care about policies, foodbanks, NHS, schools.

And I care that the media is trying to drum up disgusting outrage about trans people in the exact same way they did homosexuality decades ago.
And it’s working.

There is a known link between gum disease and heart disease, cardiac arrest and stroke.

Lastchancechica · 27/09/2023 18:27

I am absolutely sick and fucking tired of the relentless demands of the tax payer! Usually from people that don’t contribute, they seem to think the world owes them a living and to live effortlessly with endless demands with no contribution at all from them.

And even more strangely they expect Labour to deliver this utopia.

Its pure fantasy economics.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 27/09/2023 18:28

If we don’t enable a Labour win by voting tactically, we will legitimise the appalling behaviour of the Conservatives which has made life worse for the majority of people in the UK. Please try and vote for whoever is most likely to unseat a Tory.

If you care about those things - have a look at Wales, where they are all even worse and run by Labour.

No.

pointythings · 27/09/2023 18:29

Regular dental x-rays are preventive in that they allow issues to be identified and treated early, which costs the NHS less. You'd think that would be a no brainer. Some people need them more frequently because their teeth are weaker and they are more likely to develop problems. What a shame people are too hard of thinking to understand that.

And I am sick and tired of this ridiculous far right “everyone is a scrounger” bollocks.

Sorry I’m paying attention to England where the tories have f*cked everyone over for more than a decade. Ta.

Lastchancechica · 27/09/2023 18:34

Back to Keir.
Keir won’t be paying for xrays
Keir won’t be paying for Hygienists
Keir won’t be funding free dentists
Keir won’t be buying council stock
Keir won’t be funding anything extra whatsoever.

Why? Because he can’t magically print money from nowhere. News flash.

So you will still have to pay regardless so how’s it relevant to this thread?

Lastchancechica · 27/09/2023 18:35

Labour are shit with money - look at Birmingham.

I also didn’t care that Ed Miliband ate a bacon sandwich.
The media takes one event and gives it the spotlight so it’s the only thing people focus on.
Trans issues are so important and complex, it’s frustrating to see it reduced to this one sentence repeated over and over.

Conservatives are great with money - look at Liz and Kwasi.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/09/2023 18:42

Keir won’t be buying council stock

He - or rather the party - could make a start by ending the sale of existing stock, but they won't do that
Probably because they know the revenue's a nice little earner which can be frittered away on vanity projects rather than building more

Lastchancechica · 27/09/2023 18:44

Birmingham are bankrupt

CurlewKate · 27/09/2023 18:44

@Lastchancechica "Do you think our grandparents had all of this stuff? Nope. This is an indulgence. A modern day indulgence."

They didn't have polio vaccines either. And I'm old enough to have parents who were born before antibiotics. Soooo much better in those days.

Lastchancechica · 27/09/2023 18:47

Given MN is so pro Labour it might be a shock to see the polling. 56% Intensely dislike Sir Keir. Can’t imagine why…

Notonthestairs · 27/09/2023 18:47

And Thurrock Council? Northampton? Croydon? Hampshire? Woking?

To be honest you cant really cut central funding they way its been cut in the last 13 years (40% cuts in real terms between 2009 - 2019/20) and push councils to take on more responsibilities without seeing councils faltering.

Clavinova · 27/09/2023 18:48

poetryandwine
He was also a sufficiently talented musician to study at Guildhall, with a good enough ear to love Beethoven - a fact which @ Clavinova has tried to weaponise
I haven't mentioned that junior music courses at Guildhall start from around £3,800. Who paid for Starmer's music lessons in three or four instruments? He probably won a music scholarship at school at some point, but who paid for his music lessons as he was starting out? Did his three siblings have paid-for activities as well?

Louchelizard · 27/09/2023 18:49

Lastchancechica · 27/09/2023 18:44

Birmingham are bankrupt

Yes, it is, just like Thurrock (Conservative) and Northamptonshire (Conservative).
