To intensely dislike Keir Starmer

1000 replies

LemonyTicket · 27/09/2023 00:42

I can't stand Tories.
The current Tories are the worst

But I still intensely dislike Keir Starmer and will probably vote Green.

I find him phony, with no vision, like a terrible 6th form prefect. And to be honest his whole front bench are dreadful. Wes Streeting nauseates me.

Is it just me?

And when labour fund the refuges 100% but only if they admit males into the rape centres, dv shelters, emergency housing for victims.

Then what?

You're blind if you think that won't happen.

In just the last couple days a man got East Midlands Outstanding Female LGBTQIA+ Champion 2023 at the Women's Awards...

And a woman was spoken to by police for refusing a Pride Themed carrier bag...

Good luck helping victims of Rape and DV when Men can enter their refuges and safe spaces.

err can i remind you who is actually in power where these things are happening right now? clue - its not Labour.

Starmer has repeatedly said he will respect female only spaces.

ATM under Sunak, just 50% of calls to DV refuge's are answered, most women never get a space, hence so many die and its not men taking their rooms, its Tory cuts to funding.

Startingagainandagain · 27/09/2023 09:15

You are perfectly entitled to dislike him. He is not a very inspiring leader.

But I think what is really important at the next election is that people look into voting tactically to remove the Tories from power.

We can't go on like this and need to reverse the dramatic decline and the misery that this country is going through.

So please vote Lib Dem, Green or Labour depending on where you live.

A coalition might also actually be no bad thing as we are seeing what happens when a single party stays in power for too long. Corruption, decay and swing towards right wing extremism...

helford · 27/09/2023 09:18

@Startingagainandagain Absolutely, time n time again things are just not working, we can't even keep armed police on the streets of London now.

Everything is broken.

How will this happen if he includes men as females since they have a legal sex certificate?

helford · 27/09/2023 09:20

@EasternStandard GRC's are giving out gender certificates right now, 96% of applicants get their certificate & without surgery.

Yes that’s why we need legislative change which is in process atm

Without that how can Starmer make that pledge?

What legislative change? i didn't know that was happening.

I thought it was actually being watered down.

Alternative suggestions for prime minister:

Kathy Burke
My ex boss
Bernie Sanders (not allowed sadly)
Any of the guys from Queer eye (see above)
Lord Grantham (fictional admittedly)
Danny Dyer
Ian McKellen
Marcus Rashford
The fit one from Duran Duran
Rachel Weiss

I could go on all day....

I know this is lighthearted but this is how you end up with politicians like Boris Johnson & Donald Trump. I don’t think a politician should have the same qualities as a celebrity.

I’m luke warm about Keir & would’ve preferred Lisa Nandy to have won the leadership election, but I don’t find him slimy or insincere.

Look up Kemi Badenoch letter to ECHR on biological sex for definition of women

It’s now in consultation stage here in gov. It isn’t fast but Starmer has already said Labour will kill it if they get in.

This is all down to how much we can legally do as part of international law. ECHR have said go ahead. I can’t see any other way to protect single sex spaces

madamreign · 27/09/2023 09:30

It comes down to this:

Do you want the ambulance to turn up in time to stop you dying from a heart attack or a stroke?

Yes: vote Labour
No: vote Someone else

madamreign · 27/09/2023 09:31

Single sex spaces don't matter in the cemetery

Bobbotgegrinch · 27/09/2023 09:31

I'm not going to lie, he doesn't exactly thrill me either.

But I honestly think that another 5 years of the Tories will tip this country over the edge and we'll never have another fair election again, so I will be out canvassing for labour every chance I get. (In a neighbouring constituency, mine is about as safe a labour seat as possible)

I'd seriously suggest tactical voting, if lib Dems are more likely to win, vote for them, labour, voted for them. For me this next election has to be about destroying the Conservative party with a defeat it'll take them over a decade to come back from.

madamreign · 27/09/2023 09:34

I don't know, after all the drama over the past few years, I find the idea of a competent administrator positively thrilling!

They tried that in Wales and now it's even worse 🤷

madamreign · 27/09/2023 09:36

I don't live in Wales. I don't know enough about it.

I do know a lot about the English healthcare system.

Clavinova · 27/09/2023 09:36

Andnowtowhatcomesnext
I feel like Kier will do well in terms of being honest with us...
I think in the event of a situation like a pandemic he’d be calm and measured (not go around boasting about shaking hands against medical advice, see it as an opportunity for his mates to make money and then party while the rest of us sat alone at loved ones funerals).

Keir Starmer honest?

Starmer's beer and curry evening took place less than 14 days after Prince Philip's funeral. When Starmer was first asked how many people were with him "in total" (Nick Ferrari LBC) his answer was "about six" - some months later Starmer changed his answer to "fifteen or so."

Starmer told Good Morning Britain;
"All restaurants and pubs were closed so takeaways were really the only way you could eat,"

That was a lie because restaurants and pubs were open for outside eating (groups of up to six). Starmer ate at a restaurant (outside) the evening before Durham - in Hull - with Hull's Labour MP.

Starmer also said that the hotel he and his colleagues were staying at 'did not serve food'. That was a lie - Starmer was staying at the Radisson Blu hotel in Durham which was serving food on the terrace until 9pm.

Starmer wasn't fined but he told a string of lies along the way.

So its not actually legislative? not yet time tabled for a hearing & ECHR doesn't make law and Govt can and do ignore their rulings, the UK ignores around 11% i believe.

Badenoch is just handing over responsibility to someone else.

Of course a Govt can pass laws on this, the Tories just don't want too, many sporting organisations have past rulings on this subject.

AnonAnonandAriston · 27/09/2023 09:38

I’m not silent on those issues but they are actually nothing to do with government and all to do with service providers and local policies, including NHS hospital trusts and sporting bodies.

And it'll get so much better with people like this in charge?

To intensely dislike Keir Starmer
LadyBird1973 · 27/09/2023 09:38

My dad had a suspected heart attack and was left in A&E for over 12 hours. This is in Labour's Wales. They've just spent a shit load of money on a massive hospital that takes 45 minutes to get to, downgrading the local one. Don't be thinking the NHS is better under Labour.

Syndulla · 27/09/2023 09:38

Honestly reading some of these utterly batshit comments you would think it was Starmer in charge right now.

For those of you with comprehension difficulties:

The Tories have been in power for 13 years. They were the ones proposing self ID. They are the ones who have slashed local government and NHS funding who contract out services for domestic violence, rape victims etc. They are the ones who have decimated the courts so even if you do report your rape it is very unlikely that the perpetrator will ever face justice.

Sporting bodies are responsible for letting trans women compete in women's sports, not Keir Starmer.

It's interesting that those on this thread who are so vocal about Starmer are incapable of defending the Tory record.

OK, you don't like Labour. But tell me, why on earth should I vote for a party that has caused so much havoc in the NHS that my lovely Mum is now on week 6 of waiting for a biopsy result? Defend that if you can. I'm waiting.

LadyBird1973 · 27/09/2023 09:40

No one is defending the Tories. Just saying that KS isn't a safer pair of hands.

EasternStandard · 27/09/2023 09:37

Labour run Wales is worse

I didn't realise Wales was a sovereign separate country? or does Westminster allocate funding and training places.

With 7.8m on NHS waiting lists, i'd not boast about English healthcare.

LadyBird1973 · 27/09/2023 09:40

In Wales (Labour) my dad is also waiting on scan results for lung cancer. Dr says 6 weeks average wait.

Neither you nor i know this... when he did have power, as DPP he was by all accounts very good.
