Is this ok for a wedding?

I've bought a dress from Vinted. I don't want to share the exact dress as the photo is of the dress being worn by the seller and that seems unfair so I've googled and found a very similar one. The one I've bought has slightly more sage green and fewer white spaces.

Is this ok to wear as a wedding guest do you think? Is there too much white? I'd have no concerns wearing it to a wedding of a family member etc because my family are very casual about this stuff but I only know the groom at this wedding so no idea what the general consensus would be from the other guests.

Opinions appreciated. If it's not acceptable I've got a couple of christenings I could wear it to later this year so it's not a loss.

Yeah I think it's absolutely fine. Really nice dress.

Thanks, I hope so. It's very very similar to the picture. I think reading so many of these threads has me very paranoid that anything remotely white isn't wedding appropriate.

No I wouldn’t.
So so so so many other colours you can wear.

Chocpot1986 · 26/09/2023 12:58

I think it’s a gorgeous dress!

Sparkletastic · 26/09/2023 12:59

I wouldn't wear it for a wedding

Cosyblankets · 26/09/2023 12:59

It's nice

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/09/2023 13:00

Very pretty. Really don’t understand the not wearing any white thing at all.

Shoxfordian · 26/09/2023 13:00

I think it has too much white in it for a wedding especially as you don’t know the bride or how she’ll react to it

hotcandle · 26/09/2023 13:01

It's lovely but I definitely wouldn't wear that to a wedding.

Especially in photography, you'll find the pattern will be lost, and it will look like you're wearing a pure white dress.

”React”? Really? Couldn’t tell you what anyone else wore to my wedding. Think my husband might have been in black tie?

It was all about ME 🤣

Sunshineclouds11 · 26/09/2023 13:02

Lovely dress but I wouldn't wear it to a wedding

NoGNoDNoClue · 26/09/2023 13:02

Can you crop the photo of the real dress so we can see the fabric but not the seller? If it's less white then it might be ok. Personally I wouldn't wear that one to a wedding, but it is lovely.

SusiePevensie · 26/09/2023 13:03

No.

BarrelOfOtters · 26/09/2023 13:03

It's fine. It's a nice dress.

Magpiesalute · 26/09/2023 13:05

I also wouldn’t wear it to a wedding, if in doubt, don’t!

Without looking at the pics i couldn't tell you what my guests wore.
But i do know they all looked lovely and they all had a lovely time.
So much obsession over things that are not important.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 but seriously it's a lovely dress and I'd wear it to a wedding

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/09/2023 13:08

Really surprised at the “too much white” replies.
If it’s all to do with tradition, let’s face it, most brides are technically wearing dresses that are too white too.

Notagains · 26/09/2023 13:08

Yes it's perfectly fine. To be honest though I don't understand this obsession on Mumsnet about what guests wear to weddings. It seems a very recent thing and I've never met a bride who would care.
But even if you are abiding by the Mumsnet rules that dress is obviously not bridal

WereYouListeningToTheDudesStory · 26/09/2023 13:09

I'd wear it but I'd probably choose non-bride type accessories so it was obvious I wasn't the one getting married. With the detail on it, I'd go for purple. Maybe boots or a hat or a belt in purple?

caerdydd12 · 26/09/2023 13:11

Wow, more replies than I anticipated!

This is why I'm worried, some people are absolutely fine with it and others are staunchly no.

Let me see if I can crop the original photo and just hope the seller doesn't track this thread down..

OP posts:
Thebigblueballoon · 26/09/2023 13:13

I wouldn’t. It just isn’t worth the risk of offending the bride, and I’d spend the day slightly worrying about it.

It's a stunning dress OP I love it.

I'd definitely wear it to family or close friends Wedding but not sure about the wedding you're attending.

Stephisaur · 26/09/2023 13:14

I'd wear it, but with a coloured bolero/shrug cardi type thing to pick up on one of the colours in it.
