Cryptic pregnancy, positive test at 5 months

Im sure I’m being silly but I’m terrified, shaking and crying and need some reassurance. I last had sex 5 months ago, I’ve had periods ever since albeit a little later than usual but still every month.
this month I’m 10 days late so brought a PG test on a whim and this came up immediately although as it’s so faint I’m thinking it can’t be a positive as surely if I was five months it would be darker?

Just to clarify I’m not going to be going to A&E I’ll come back and update the thread once I’ve had blood test results x

The women who miscarried were booked in pregnant women, with positive pregnancy tests.
You were absolutely not one of the women I referred to, and neither was I the five times I was there for the same reason.

EPU is EARLY pregnancy unit, so not appropriate anyway. Maternity unit is for pregnant women who have been booked on to the maternity service. Neither is suitable for OP.

Wrong again, see I absolutely was one of those 'not booked in women' who miscarried (also multiple times, since you brought it up) and yet I was sent to EPU for scans, twice, whilst not having been booked in and not being pregnant because, you know, miscarriage. There isn't a 'Miscarriage Unit' so it's EPU in those circumstances, even if not pregnant.

Sadly many miscarriages occur before women reach booking in.

Good luck for Thursday. Hope you get some clear answers xx

That’s so confusing, I hope you’re able to get some answers soon!

satellitesunshine · 06/10/2023 10:21

how did it go OP?

PrettyPleaseXo · 06/10/2023 13:52

You’ve just reminded me to update! Both HCG and FSH came back negative so I’m thrilled there’s no pregnancy or menopause. Thank you so much everyone ❤️

No, not wrong again. EPU, E for EARLY. Not accurate for someone who would be 6 months pregnant! And no miscarriage either.....

SO, OP is not, as was obvious, pregnant. And so, as I said, neither A&E or the EPU/Maternity unit was at all appropriate for her to go.

Glad you got the outcome you wanted. Those pregnancy tests should be banned, all the worry they cause!

Regular periods, very faint line and negative on CB
It’s quite clearly a dodgy test. Where is it from? Look at the reviews for the test. Certain tesco ones for example are known for it

I've had a faint false positive on nearly every tesco test I've ever taken. They are notorious.

Pleased for you @PrettyPleaseXo
