Dogs slobbering on products in shops

PurpIish · 23/09/2023 17:21

I know I'm not being unreasonable! But surely some think I am as they allow their dogs to do this.

Took DD(7) shopping today, trip was really spoiled by a few dogs.

Lush. Someone brought their large dog in, this dog was head height to the lower shelves, and had its snout in several of the products. I was about to complain to the staff, but several staff went over and started petting the dog, clearly they were team dog. I don't want my clean bath products with added dog slobber, nor do I want them handled by someone who has just been touching dogs. I will email lush to tell them, but I am posting to please ask dog people to resist taking your dogs into stores where they are going to have their noses in the products.

Next was at the little pop up market. Another dog, in owner's arms, sneezed on the wares (hand-knitted toys). Obviously sneezing happens, but come on, that's just gross.

Third, today, mid-to-large sized dog, cocked his leg on someone's stall. Owner wasn't even watching. Stall -holder has to pack up her table, with dog piss on the table leg. I did tell the owner, of the stall, she was really pissed off, and lamented that it has happened before, but because she's positioned in the outdoor market area, she has no control over people bringing their dogs right up to her stall.

Fourth. Woman had her dog on a long leash. Elderly chap tripped over the leash. Luckily he didn't land on the ground, it was busy so he just half -fell on someone as he stumbled, but he was shaken, and the person he landed on was hurt too. Dread to think how the old man would be doing had he completely fallen on the ground.

Fifth, there was a dog shit in the middle of the outdoor market.

This is all in one day. We were only out for about three hours.

Please please stop bringing dogs everywhere. And if you absolutely must, please watch them vigilantly so that the rest of us aren't impacted by them.

Yanbu - dogs should stay at home, or go to the park. They should not be in the shops.

Yabu. Dogs are still great, better than humans, and comparable to kids.

@Fab973 🥳 well said and yes you are fab

You should NOT bring your dog to a restaurant it is disgusting. Children can be in a restaurant, dogs should stay outside. How awful for your dog smelling all the food and not being able to eat it, or even worse you feeing the dog restaurant food. Your dog is not a human being LEAVE IT AT HOME

Tough, guide dogs are allowed in all restaurants, regardless of whether you think they're "disgusting".

Guide and other assistance dogs are different as at least they’re trained how to interact with the public and their owners who require their assistance.

Maybe move to a better place? You must live in a bit of a cesspit town if your shops allow dogs to piss on their stock. I have a dog and don’t take it into shops btw, but have yet to visit one where there’s dog piss everywhere….but maybe it depends where you live.

Some dog people don’t really have reading comprehension skills.

The piss situation was in the OP. Have a read. I have not seen it myself but believe others. As I have said on this thread already.

And some problem can’t help but live in ‘cesspits’. Not everyone is wealthy you see. Or able to move easily.

Anyway give the thread another read, slowly and see if you understand better.

They are still dogs though, which is was PP finds "disgusting".

I hate dogs, smelly, whining, needy fuckers

WiddlinDiddlin · 23/09/2023 20:04

YABU... not because all those things are not horrid, thoughtless, revolting and clearly unacceptable, they are.

But because, as ever, it is the human in charge who is the problem.

I have seen every single one of those issues (down to the piss and shit) caused by humans - children wiping snotty hands everywhere, adults sneezing on stuff, leaving shitty nappies in public places, shitting in public places, pissing on things...

The problem is PEOPLE behaving in thoughtless and revolting ways that affect others.

If everyone could stop being a thoughtless, disgusting arsehole, the world would be a better place.

Lorrymum · 23/09/2023 20:06

I was in TKMaxx yesterday and was shocked to see so many large dogs were in store. The aisles are fairly narrow so shedding dogs must be leaving hairs on clothing as they brush past.
I love dogs but I don't want to share my shopping trips with them.

But they are allowed by law in lots of places. As they’re assistance dogs.

Exactly the point I was trying to make. People are the issue.

I feel 🤢at a dog pissing on clothing displays. I think I’ll stick to online from now on.

The best one is the poster on another thread who seemed to think it was OK for her dog to sit on the table on a train🤢

ssd · 23/09/2023 20:09

I work in a naice shop. Dogs are allowed in and people bring them in all the time. I dont get it, its bad enough having to traipse your children round the shops never mind dragging your dog along. Bloody madness.

And she then said she would like kids to be banned from commuter trains 😂

But it’s fine as she allegedly wipes the table with a wipe after and anyway, her doggy likes the view!

It’s pretty obvious that it’s the human owners that are being ignorant pigs. It’s hardly a revelation.

SomethingFun · 23/09/2023 20:11

Watched dog piss run down the slanted floor in a clothes shop a couple of weeks ago. The family and their dog said nothing, moved away slightly from the piss and carried on shopping. We mentioned it to the store manager and her colleague had already gone to get the mop to clean it up. They had a system for cleaning up dog piss in a clothes shop. Welcome to England in 2023.

Comprehension skills required. I didn't say it was the dogs' faults. Obviously it is the owners' doing. I'm sure the dogs didn't want to be there. The one the old man tripped over the lead of also got a nasty yank, poor thing.

Bet the assistant was happy. Mopping up someone else’s dog piss😞

How ridiculous! Most dogs behave really well. Only people who dislike dogs would make bullshit like a bunch of dogs peeing in shops and markets. I really think this new non stop daily threads are from people from countries that are known to hate dogs. Most people like dogs and are happy to see them or do not mind them around.

Edited

But how do you toilet train a dog? If they’ve gotta go they gotta go.

All over John Lewis’ Ladieswear🤢

sunglassesonthetable · 23/09/2023 20:19

Do dogs like shopping? 🤔 🙄

I mean it's one thing dashing into somewhere dog in tow and grabbing a loaf of bread.

I'm picturing a bakery with high counters. Food behind glass.

In and out .

But browsing around in a clothes shop?
No wonder it pissed on the floor.

Dear me.

I'd rather have dogs in town than cats shitting all over my garden. I found 3 lots of it in my garden one morning from all the neighbourhood cats. Having to pick up cat shit so you can use your garden or out of your vegetable patch is far worse than seeing a bath bomb that a dog has sniffed I promise you.

I have a cat but came across a massive pile of fox poo in my garden the other day. You sure it's cats?

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 23/09/2023 20:22

Laiste · 23/09/2023 17:53

WTF has cat shit got to do with dogs being taken into shops?

There's always one isn't there.

I guess next we'll have some nonsensical comparison with children 🙄

This and the stupid children comment from a pp

trythisforsize · 23/09/2023 20:22

I stayed in a hotel room in Somerset recently which had a chair in it that smelt of wee. I realised later that dogs were staying in some of the rooms and reading this thread I have realised that the only explanation is that a dog must have cocked it's leg on the chair. I killed 5 flies in my room on the first night and 3 flies the 2nd night.

Shame.

bakermummy21 · 23/09/2023 20:28

I was in a small seaside town in the Uk this week and couldn't believe how many dogs were there, in the street, shops, cafes. I like dogs but it was definitely dog overload.

SomethingFun · 23/09/2023 20:31

Haha I wish I was making up that I saw a shop floor covered in dog piss. My dd was really upset because she couldn’t understand why the dog owners didn’t do anything to clean it up or at least tell someone. Because it was an old building the floor was slanted and it ran practically all the way down the shop. I had to move my dc before their shoes got covered in it. There was loads and the dog wasn’t big. Dogs don’t need to go clothes shopping.
