Any dog lovers here?

I often see posts here about the "too much dogs" thing. And I completely understand that some people are not into dogs 😊
But I am curious if there are people like me who adore dogs? It makes me happy to see them everywhere! In my perfect world everyone would have a dog and dogs would be just everywhere. I never mind getting dirty by a jumping dog or barks or anything like that. It just makes me happy 😊
I came to UK from France not such a long time ago (yes, it is the reason why my English sucks) and I see much more dogs here, than in my place and I just cannot stop smiling each time there is a dog close to me, so actually I am smiling nonstop here 😁

I adore dogs but I think they should be on leads in public.

ntmdino · 21/09/2023 16:03

Yes, absolutely - we have three (Akita, Chihuahua and a Romanian mutt) in our second generation of dogs, and we absolutely wouldn't be without them. I think I've spent less than 10 days away from our dogs in the last 15 years.

CurlewKate · 21/09/2023 16:06

I adore dogs too-still grieving for my little Border bitch-and I love to chat to dogs when I'm out and about. But I have a real issue with anthropomorphising and with dogs not completely under control in public and with people expecting everyone else to love their dogs as much as they do. So maybe I'm between the positions!

LadyGrillingSole · 21/09/2023 16:16

We have two rescued greyhounds, the sweetest, goofiest pair of dogs you'll ever meet!
Anyone who doesn't fall in love with them within the first two minutes of meeting them is a weirdo, and needs their brain examining! (Joking! Well, sort of...)

Sonolanona · 21/09/2023 16:22

I love mine very much indeed.. and love to say hello to any one else's.
However I do recognise that since Covid there are a lot of absolutely useless owners out there who do not have any control over their animals.
Mine's not perfect (despite our best efforts) but I work hard at being a good owner !

PrrrplePineapple · 21/09/2023 16:26

I adore mine and take them everywhere permissible (that they'd enjoy, no supermarkets or crowded places) and love that so many cafes are now dog friendly.

I do most definitely mind other people's dogs jumping up at me and leaving muddy pawprints, and hate it when dogs bark with no effort by their owners to shut them up. But as far as I am concerned, well-behaved dogs being welcomed into more places is wonderful.

Whohashiddenthebiscuits · 21/09/2023 16:28

I’m far more interested in people’s dogs than the people themselves usually. I love my kids but quite honestly, they are far more of a pain in the proverbial than the dog most of the time!
Yes there are some useless owners and hell hounds but on the whole, dogs are the best

VeridicalVagabond · 21/09/2023 16:31

Come over to mine for tea OP, my three giant hairy smelly dogs would absolutely love a visitor who doesn't mind them climbing all over her. They love a cuddle and don't realise most people don't want to cuddle something hairy and muddy the size of a Shetland pony.

(Before anyone comes for me they're very well trained and absolutely do not climb on people without permission)

Would absolutely love this! I always get dirty with doggies, it's my understanding of "having fun" 😁
I have dogs as well, a border collie and a German shepherd and being a dog mom is the best thing that has ever happened to me ❤️ (no children yet)

I love dogs and all animals.

It's actually owners I struggle with more than there dogs.

bassetsarebest · 21/09/2023 16:39

Dogs are great and I love seeing them, other dog owners must think I’m weird because I smile at dogs whenever I see them.

ACertainKindOfLight · 21/09/2023 16:42

I love all animals, l think there are a lot of cold miserable people who sadly get no enjoyment from dogs, animals or life in general.

Beargrumps22 · 21/09/2023 16:42

i adore dogs dont mind hair or slobber and all dogs who come in my shop get a tasty treat including a greyhound who comes daily for a treat and a big cuddle!

Enko · 21/09/2023 16:44

I'm suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog when it doesn't like a person.

Obsessed with my dogs here, we all ADORE them

I see very few badly behaved owners here in London even though there's thousands of dogs

Surely there must be the odd time you mind getting dirty? What if on the way to a wedding or funeral?
I don't love or hate dogs generally. There are some friends dogs I love. Especially a friends whippet who thinks he's a lap dog and I'm happy to have his bony legs digging in everywhere while he tries to get comfy on my lap. He's gorgeous. But if I'm heading out or to work, pretty much anywhere that involves looking clean, I'd rather not be jumped on with muddy paws.

Roughashouses · 21/09/2023 16:44

I'm a dog fan. Some owners leave a little to be desired but I can't blame dogs for human behaviour.

allthehops · 21/09/2023 16:45

I love dogs but I think there's far too many irresponsible dog owners who can't be arsed to put the work in and train their dogs properly.

JamSandle · 21/09/2023 16:46

I should add although I love dogs, I am VERY allergic so them being more and more in public places like restaurants etc is challenging for me.

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 21/09/2023 16:47

Dogs are an absolute joy for me! I love their absolute joy of life, everything makes them happy! Going out to the garden? Amazing!!! Coming back in? So exciting!!! You're home from work? Omg I've won the lottery!! Dinner???? My life is complete
They are never bitter or mean. They have crazy funny little personalities, my 2 are so different!
Happily I'm a vet, so I get to meet loads. I also smile and mutter hello to any dog I see on the street.
Yes, some owners are awful, and end up with fearful, anxious and unsocialised Dogs, which is such a shame, because as a species Dogs are awesome.

Libertass · 21/09/2023 16:52

I am a dog lover, and a responsible dog owner. the key word, of course, being ‘responsible’.

My lurchers are properly trained and obedient. They are always on the lead in busy public places. When they are off the lead they will come when called. They do not run up to people or jump up or bark or beg for food or generally be nuisances. They are no threat to anyone or anything, except rabbits.

If only I could say the same about all dogs. It’s such a shame that irresponsible owners of badly behaved dogs reflect badly on us all.

SquashPenguin · 21/09/2023 16:55

Dogs are the best. The world would be an awful place if we didn’t have dogs. The joy that my pug brings to my life is immeasurable 😊

Chlobo89 · 21/09/2023 16:59

I love dogs much more then i like humans, i would much rather go to a cafe or shop if dogs were there and if them being there weeds out the dog haters then even better!

Almondmum · 21/09/2023 17:00

There's a really busy board for dog owners on here called the Dog House. It comes up in active conversations all the time.

The UK is a nation of dog lovers, where I live I'd say the majority of people own dogs.
