Any dog lovers here?

I often see posts here about the "too much dogs" thing. And I completely understand that some people are not into dogs 😊
But I am curious if there are people like me who adore dogs? It makes me happy to see them everywhere! In my perfect world everyone would have a dog and dogs would be just everywhere. I never mind getting dirty by a jumping dog or barks or anything like that. It just makes me happy 😊
I came to UK from France not such a long time ago (yes, it is the reason why my English sucks) and I see much more dogs here, than in my place and I just cannot stop smiling each time there is a dog close to me, so actually I am smiling nonstop here 😁

I adore dogs, they love unconditionally and I love them all back. Probably slightly controversial on here, but I love them more than kids (I don't have any of my own). Somebody talking to me about their kid? I'll nod and smile appropriately, but I honestly couldn't care less that little Johnny has just learnt to count to three or has learnt how to feed himself. However, talk to me about your dog, and I'll listen all day. Show me photos of them and I'll be your best friend! I'll always smile and talk to dogs on the street, often before even noticing the human that's walking them, and I'm equally happy when people do the same to me when I'm walking my dog!

100% the same!

I love our dog and don't seem to experience any of the problems documented on MN. I walk her every day, see other dog owners, it's generally accepted that if you see another dog on a lead, you leash your dog likewise if you have a dog that is likely to want to greet other people walking. Everyone seems to have bags and there are plenty of bins so don't see a lot of mess left either. That said, it's generally the people who walk every day that I see, too many dogs around here never seem to leave the garden.

Orangebadger · 21/09/2023 19:05

100% adore dogs. In fact other than my own kids, I love them more than people!

TheChosenTwo · 21/09/2023 19:10

I like dogs but don’t want one in my house, don’t tend to visit anyone who has dogs in their house and detest the amount of dogs now in pubs/cafes/restaurants.
I enjoy walking a friends dog but the poo picking up does turn my stomach!
hate when people don’t put their dogs on a lead and it comes bounding up to me, owner 30 metres away cheerfully declaring it to be a very friendly hound - keep your bloody dog under control ffs.

Whohashiddenthebiscuits · 21/09/2023 19:21

I do see some of the problems documented on here unfortunately - one too many dogs off leash who aren’t under any kind of control. But you get to know the places idiots go don’t you (I never take my dog to the local Rec). Having said that, my dog was attacked last week when we crossed paths with a woman pushing a pram with a bulldog off leash - the dog trotted up to my on leash dog (I assumed it was friendly as the woman was smiling away) and after the usual sniff and greet, went for her. The owner did manage to call it off and my dog wasn’t injured (but was terrified) ..no apology.
Idiots who let their reactive and sometimes dangerous dogs off lead just beggar belief but on the whole, I think people who adore dogs are my kind of people

Sorry, I don't think you can actually say "I like dogs" because obviously you don't 🤭

@VeterinaryCareAssistant

Tbh I haven't ever had an XL Bully . To me they are a total different prospect and not a dog I'd have primarily because of other people's reaction to them .
Over the years I've had English bull terriers , British bulldogs , french Bulldogs and my absolute favourite the Bullmastiff . All wonderful breeds .

PurpIe · 21/09/2023 19:37

No. They are a nuisance. Dirty, smelly, noisy, bitey.

To be fair you’re probably right. I like walking them but only because I like walking. I do it with or without a dog. I’d never be unkind to a dog (or any animal). But I think on balance you’re right, I don’t really like them 😂
They do stink, the smell of my hand if I end up having to stroke one to be polite is foul. And some people sleep with them on their beds 🤢

SheerLucks · 21/09/2023 19:49

We have two cats but I love dogs, and there are so many around where we live and they all seem just lovely. They're in the cafes I go to as well and are so well behaved save just a couple I come across each year that aren't socialised enough and bark a lot.

I also don't get these recent posts complaining about dogs being everywhere, but I guess it does depend on the area and demographics etc.

Mojoj · 21/09/2023 19:52

Yes, me! Love all animals but dogs are my favourite. My dog is my best pal. ❤️

Prescottdanni123 · 21/09/2023 19:56

Dog lover here!

A lot of the hysteria from dog haters on here isn't a true reflection of the British public, thank god.

purplepencilcase · 21/09/2023 19:58

I love dogs, and have had dogs all my life.

But the XL bullies terrify me. I'm literally worried about taking my children into a city.

XenoBitch · 21/09/2023 19:58

I love most dogs. Can't say I am fan of the little yappy breeds, or breeds like pugs, but to each their own.

I was in a pub yesterday and someone had the sweetest little staffie. Happy dogs never fail to make me smile.

I could have written this. I feel exactly the same!

Me three 🙋‍♀️

Couldn't care less about other people's kids (even though have my own) but absolutely ADORE dog talk 🥰

That's people 🤮

LakieLady · 21/09/2023 20:17

So sorry about your girl, @adriennemole . Flatties are wonderful dogs, a friend had 2 and I adored them.

I've spent more of my life living with a dog than without, but I'm too decrepit to give them the exercise they need, and so old that I don't think it's fair to take on a new one that might outlive me.

I acquired a lab cross by accident (I looked after him for someone who was temporarily homeless and then got a job that involve loads of travelling), and then had 2 lakeland terriers, who were just amazing, clever, funny, crafty little gits. I miss them terribly, but get a regular dog fix by looking after friends' dogs when they go away.

Dogs are the best.

XelaM · 21/09/2023 20:20

No one is ever as happy to see you when you come home as a dog 😍 and their love, trust and loyalty are unconditional

drinkuptheezider · 21/09/2023 20:24

I adore my dog 🐕. She is gorgeous, I spend a fortune on classes, activities and enrichment, it's worth every penny.
I love it when customers bring in their dogs to work. I can bore for England talking dog.
I roll my eyes at the negative dog threads as it's not my RL experience.
I have cats 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛ too , they are bloody wonderful too. The neighbours clearly aren't anti either, one neighbour complained I put secure solid fencing up, as he can't talk to Ddog, and dcat is a six dinner sid who visits old ladies to keep them company. 😂

RandomButtons · 21/09/2023 20:36

I love dogs, really really do. Always had at least one.

However I got bitten aggressively by a Labrador last year when I was at a social gathering/event. Apparently the dog was the best behaved dog ever - I actually believe tgat might be true, but the idiot owners didn’t have a clue about dog behaviour and stress signals, and taking it to a busy bustling social event was too much for it.

So personally I don’t like this trend of dogs can go everywhere. It’s too much stress for some dogs.

hereismydog · 21/09/2023 20:37

I’ve namechanged because my dog is unusual-looking and I will 100% be outed if anyone I know sees this 😂

I was never really a ‘dog person’ until I got a dog. I am (and always will be!) a mad cat lady, and I have three of those as well as a dog. However, I will now regularly stop and say hello to any passing dog who has permission to say hello to me and often get down on the ground with them.

Here’s my boy! He has the BEST smile 😁

Me! I absolutely adore them. If they’ll accept a fuss I’m there! All the dogs on my estate that I fuss stop at my house when on their walk!

i prefer them to a lot of people and the people I really like love dogs. I treat my dog like a precious family member & he has the best life. It’s nothing short of what he deserves after the love & joy he gives me every day. I wfh & he sits by me all day. He knows when I’m stressed.

I would love to offer a home to a rescue dog too but I have a DD & my fences aren’t high enough so the answer in always no.
