Any dog lovers here?

I often see posts here about the "too much dogs" thing. And I completely understand that some people are not into dogs 😊
But I am curious if there are people like me who adore dogs? It makes me happy to see them everywhere! In my perfect world everyone would have a dog and dogs would be just everywhere. I never mind getting dirty by a jumping dog or barks or anything like that. It just makes me happy 😊
I came to UK from France not such a long time ago (yes, it is the reason why my English sucks) and I see much more dogs here, than in my place and I just cannot stop smiling each time there is a dog close to me, so actually I am smiling nonstop here 😁

oh my...gorgeous floofer!!!! 😍

meatyryvita · 22/09/2023 16:15

Absolutely adore them in general - as long as they are under control! Our dog brings us so much joy - he's a grumpy bugger but otherwise incredibly loving, protective and great off his lead (in an area of a park for walking dogs!).

ManateeFair · 22/09/2023 16:25

I absolutely LOVE dogs. I don't even have a dog at the moment (work and travel means I couldn't give a dog the attention it would need) but I grew up with them and completely adore them. Seeing dogs always makes me happy and I love dog-friendly places. I never find dogs annoying or boring, whereas I find kids annoying and boring frequently. If I had to choose between sitting opposite someone with a dog on a long train journey and sitting opposite someone with a child, I would choose the person with the dog every single time.

OMG! What a gorgeous beast! She's beautiful.

I love dogs. I often look after my Sister's whippet. I particularly love whippets, greyhounds and italian greyhounds.

Yep. Here is mine, often screeched at/about as being dangerous, pit bull, banned breed etc.

Always on a lead, always carefully watched in any interaction as he can be a little over enthusiastic

English Bull Terriers are one of my favourite ever breeds. Such lovely, daft, affectionate dogs. Proper characters.

pickledandpuzzled · 22/09/2023 17:08

I adore dogs. My dog has helped my DS experience and express loving emotions. He's my sanity saver.

@Soubriquet what gorgeous chihuahuas 🥰

Although the film has many flaws (understatement) the original Incredible Journey had an English Bull terrier as the older dog. I fell in love with the breed after watching that film.

WiddlinDiddlin · 22/09/2023 18:12

Love dogs, have learned to tolerate people in order to help dogs.

Dogs have become my life (which is weird as when i was a kid id have said horses were everything and dogs were just around and basically nice).

Right now I am at work, where I advise people on how to raise their puppies and it is lovely to see how many people want to get it right. Even if I sometimes get sent odd photos of dogs willies and piles of poo or puke (today it was puke).

If I am not doing this I am writing about dogs, illustrating dog related things, or annoying my own three dogs (smol and fluffy, long and low wheelbase, and the frilly AT-AT walker) by requesting cuddles or asking them not to lick that there.

We are in a climate emergency. With the notable exception of assistance and working dogs, no one should be getting dogs - they have a very high carbon paw print.

Yawn.

I don't have children (and won't be having children) so bore off.

I do care about climate change but posts like this make me cringe. You have no idea about other people's circumstances or how their carbon footprint compares to yours.

Tbh I haven't ever had an XL Bully . To me they are a total different prospect and not a dog I'd have primarily because of other people's reaction to them .
Over the years I've had English bull terriers , British bulldogs , french Bulldogs and my absolute favourite the Bullmastiff . All wonderful breeds .

I'm another fan of bull breeds. I've had Staffs, Boxers and Bostons. I'd love to have an EBT. Never would I consider an XL Bully.

I love bonkers dogs, dogs that are boisterous. Only dogs I'm a little reticent about are GSD. Don't trust them. But any other dogs I'm happy to make a fuss of.

Your pooch is gorgeous. I love collies. In fact I love all dogs which is useful, because as well as out retriever and lab my partner is a vet and somehow we often end up with random dogs and cats staying with us. Some have complex health needs and the owners can't cope anymore, but the animal is too well to be pts. Others are for rehoming and we foster them. Others we have because an owner is ill or away for a while, have no family or friends to dog or cats it and the animal can't go into kennels.

At the moment we have an ancient terrier whose mobility is bad and whose owner is visiting family for a few weeks.

An elderly collie who is diabetic and whose owner can't cope with managing the condition. He will live with us now for the rest of his life.

Three kittens who were abandoned- they'll probably join us forever too.

And a miniature schnauzer who has a new forever home, but is recovering from an operation before she goes there.

We both prefer dogs to humans. And with a houseful like ours it acts like a filter to keep away the dog haters 🤣

wheresmymojo · 22/09/2023 19:35

I had a Staffie growing up and he was lovely!

I wish people would stop conflating other bull breeds with Pit Bull hybrids like the XL Bully where there are obvious genetic issues due to interbreeding.

This is my girl, Padmé, who I love with every fibre of my being!

I've been very I'll for 7 weeks and she has laid next to me every day. Normally she gets a bit whiney in the afternoons when I'm working from home as she wants someone to play with her, but she knew I was poorly and has barely whined at all bless her.

She's the bestest girl and my absolute soul dog 💗

I love our dog and don't seem to experience any of the problems documented on MN. I walk her every day, see other dog owners, it's generally accepted that if you see another dog on a lead, you leash your dog likewise if you have a dog that is likely to want to greet other people walking. Everyone seems to have bags and there are plenty of bins so don't see a lot of mess left either. That said, it's generally the people who walk every day that I see, too many dogs around here never seem to leave the garden.

Me neither and I've been around them all my life too.

I suspect a bit of hyperbole...

wheresmymojo · 22/09/2023 19:36

(just to say, I have a DH who takes her for walks, she hasn't been stuck indoors for 7 weeks!)

I fell in love with him and my neighbour's real life EBT at much the same time.

DandDoodlz67 · 23/09/2023 13:42

I like dogs have several of my own and look after some friends and family dogs as well
so I am and always have been a dog lover

however I do not like the amount of badly behaved and poorly trained dogs (& owners) think it’s mainly the owners fault for not training or having respect for others

my dogs are well trained and behaved they are allowed off lead because the have recall and do not bother other people or dogs they do not jump up (both small breeds) do not bother with even going to people or dogs they don’t know, I have spent time on training’ and trust them to behave

I hate other peoples dogs that jump all over me and hound my dogs that just arnt interested most of the time

also hate the amount of poo everywhere
and visiting people that let the dogs crawl and jump all over you and try to have a coffee and chat with a dog on your lap!

I put my dogs out in another room when visitors come unless they are well behaved just lying in thier beds which’ they often will do regardless of guests coming over

FFS, there are a ton of anti-dog threads on MN that you could post on. Why come in this one, a thread that is full of nice dog stories and photos, and just try and shit all over it.

I presume you also agree then that threads about annoying dogs everywhere should only be posted on by those who agree with the OP.

This is AIBU and Guardiansplaylist is perfectly entitled to post her view.

LadyGrinningSoul85 · 23/09/2023 14:22

Ugh, no.

In my ideal world people wouldn't be allowed to own dogs.

Horrible, manky, potentially dangerous nuisances.

(In before some comedian responds with "JuST LIkE KiDs LoL")

Perfectlystill · 23/09/2023 14:26

I love dogs and am happy to see them everywhere neck food shops but I think XL Bullies should be banned as they scare me.
