'They' is an unamed unameable undefinable concept that has no substance what so ever.
Its just a dislike for government institutions and public organisations for people who are incapable of forming a coherent argument that has any merit below its cooled chocolate crust.
Expose it to any level of sunlight above 10C and it melts into a messy blob of goo which needs to be scrapped up.
Brand goes down with these types of people because he's flamboyant and good at overegging the idea of intellegent because he uses frilly words. Never trust the word salad muppets of the world for this reason. Its a cover for lack of substance.
I saw a tweet earlier which really sums up my own sentiment on this well:
James Bloodworth AT J_Bloodworth
What I wrote about Russell Brand in 2013: “a comedian who won fame by sexually humiliating a woman on the radio and thinks it normal to harass every woman in his vicinity is now treated as Che Guevara because he uses words like ‘pre-existing paradigm’ in conversations with Jeremy Paxman”
He was given far too much of a platform for swallowing a dictionary.
But tbh, thats really the level politics has operated at for far too long.
