Lost my cool with school run mum

I’m at my absolute wits end. Recently bought a house near the kids primary school and like most primary schools the parking at school run time is a nightmare. There is one mum that constantly parks over my drive blocking me in or out. I work as an on call palliative care nurse and twice now have been late to call outs to provide pain relief and other things to patients at the end of life. I’ve tried to talk to her nicely and she just drives away. A few weeks ago my husband was trying to pull in the drive after work and she was blocking again. There was a queue of traffic behind him and he had to pull over and ask her to move so he could get off the road. She said she would when she was ready. Sometimes she’s there and there are spaces all the way up and down the road but she still blocks my drive.
today she blocked me again - I’ve just finished a night shift and I saw red. I asked her to stop parking and tried to explain I needed to get in and out quickly for work. She just shouted over me so I told her I would slash her tyres next time. I know I was unreasonable to say that and I am really ashamed of myself but I’m absolutely at my wits end. What do I do?!

Yanbu.

Where do these entitled pricks come from??

Nanny0gg · 17/09/2023 16:02

@Vanilladanish Have you cancelled the cheque yet?

Elsays · 17/09/2023 23:39

Pull up by her in your car. Lean on the horn until she moves. She'll be too embarrassed to park there again!

Mummyof2Girls2023 · 18/09/2023 06:46

Honestly so frustrating, it happens to us too and sometimes I struggle to leave the house to collect my own child who's at the next village school! Sometimes I park across my own drive so I can get out easier. I'd also 100% tell the school and send them photos. Posting on the school Facebook group may also shame ger. I wonder if you spoke to the council if they would give you permission to cone in front because you need emergency access, i bet your work could write a letter confirming your role and need to leave urgently!! Honestly some people are just horrendous.

Draw a big penis on her car with lipstick.
Sneakily without her seeing you.

Or with nail polish...

LightSpeeds · 18/09/2023 22:22

It's an offence to park over a dropped kerb though...

CrOuChEnDTiGr · 18/09/2023 23:22

It’s completely arrogant and totally unacceptable. It is a traffic offence to block a driveway, assuming it’s dropped kerb. Alert police with her details and local authority. Take pictures. Inform the school and they will mention in their newsletter re parking considerately. How arrogant to just keep doing it and be so rude!

1sttimemum1602 · 19/09/2023 09:00

Very obviously take pictures of her car on front of her every time she does it, if she says anything just tell her you are fed up and are gathering evidence of her continued illegal parking to pass on to the police seeing as she is being completely unreasonable when approached. If she starts shouting and being rude again when you ask her to move, try and record it on video and pass that on to the police too.

CatamaranViper · 19/09/2023 13:55

Anymore parking issues OP?

Baba197 · 19/09/2023 14:52

Email the school with photos of her and her car, schools hate this, ours is always sending emails out asking parents to be respectful of local houses.

123itisme · 19/09/2023 15:49

Here blocking someone's driveway is illegal. I would have asked nicely the first time and then called the police every single time after that 🤷

If you are being ignored, could you assume there is an undeclared hearing loss?
