I'm REALLY struggling in this heat. West Midlands.

I know we've barely had a summer and I know I should be enjoying this week but the amount I sweat is making me completely depressed. My hair is constantly wet, I have sweat running down my face as if it's raining, and I promise that is no exaggeration.

School run I could cry. It's so embarrassing being pouring of sweat, which then makes me sweat more I'm sure. It's nearly 1pm and the thought of the school run and being seen like this again is making tears come into my eyes.

Anyone who suffers from hair/face sweat, is there anything I can do?

Loving this heat! The hotter the better ! Wfh so make that ice lollies and pool in garden (with laptop on of course !) Enjoy it !

You forgot the "I" in front of "enjoy it!" You enjoy it; plenty of others do not.

Thriving30 · 07/09/2023 15:30

I thought dark colours absorb heat and actually make you warmer?

Lentilweaver · 07/09/2023 15:30

I hate it. Had to take the Tube yesterday and another train tomorrow. Roll on winter.

Just a reminder to everyone that you need some salt as well as water to help keep you hydrated. People often forget that and just drink tons of water without it quenching their thirst.

I need salt too? Why has nobody ever told me this. I ate a packet of ready salted if that counts 😅

Misery loves company.

OhmygodDont · 07/09/2023 15:33

However I’m am loving this last bit of a warm blast before it’s wet and grey. Had a few hours sun bathing and might pop in the pool later.

JimnJoyce · 07/09/2023 15:39

I'm also in the Midlands it's 30 here, my flat is a sweat box

WildFlowerBees · 07/09/2023 15:47

It's not just the heat it's the fecking humidity it's like the 10th circle of hell. Winter cannot come soon enough including the 200 days of January.

I think it's time that we made lace parasols fashionable again.

I always use an umbrella if I'm out in the sun - have done since living in the South Pacific many many years ago. I'm very fair and burn in minutes even with sunscreen.

Peachee · 07/09/2023 15:52

West mids here too.. stifling! 2 toddlers - nursery not back yet. Currently lay on sofa with 2 fans on in lounge! I hear you!!

piscofrisco · 07/09/2023 15:55

Stick some ice cubes on your wrists and other pulse points. Works a treat.
I love this weather personally, but I sympathise with those that don't!

User16328715 · 07/09/2023 15:55

It doesn't seem that humid, it's around 50% in our house and 26c, inside, outside is around 30c

Peachee · 07/09/2023 15:55

School run - order a hand held fan asap and sleep with cold wet flannel on body! Hth

Boopeedoop · 07/09/2023 15:58

Someone’s pissy in the heat 😂

DrCoconut · 07/09/2023 16:05

It's pleasant here, nice and warm with a slight breeze. It's the summer we should have had in July when we got autumn instead. Just a shame it's dark a bit early now. Back to the teens next week though 😫

maddiemookins16mum · 07/09/2023 16:14

I’ve not slept well for 3 nights and that was with the bed to myself as DH away. Back tonight though which will be hell, it’s like sleeping next to a over heating buffalo.

Also - I’m just trying to enjoy not being cold before the winter comes. Dressing for summer is quicker and easier and we don’t have to deal with rain yet…

I disagree. I have to find shorts that don’t make me feel like a fat slug and a top that won’t show the sweat.

much prefer jeans and boots weather.

Abracadabra12345 · 07/09/2023 16:23

I take a black golf umbrella out with me in case I end up somewhere with no shade.

As I mentioned upthread I have a golf sun umbrella- great for blocking UV and adding some shade over head and shoulders

Not me, I'm perfectly comfortable up here in Scotland, ta. 😎 👍

Callmesleepy · 07/09/2023 16:25

So hot. So unhappy about it. 😭🥵

If I was ever in the charge of this country I would pass a motion in parliament to stop any British person moaning about being too bloody hot in the summer.

Edited

I was praying for a cool breeze earlier, but now I'm praying that they never, ever let you run the country 😂

High humidity here.

Soak a tea towel under a cold water tap, wring out and wrist and place around your neck will instantly cool you down/

Invest in a neck fan which just looks like headphones and is inexpensive.

Anti perspirant on forehead and neck?

Even better if you wring out a wet tea towel, stick it in a plastic bag and chill it in the fridge for a few hours.

That trick saved my life when it was well into the 30s hot last summer. I had chilled damp tea towels on rotation!

Thanks for taking the time to give me some recs @dreamingchild

Unfortunately I already do all those things and nothing stops the sweat pouring off me.

I'm exactly the same, but weirdly my body hardly sweats but my head does! Absolutely hate it it's so embarrassing- by the time I'd got 3 children in and out of car seats, the sweat was dripping off my chin,my hair was wet all round my ears and round the back of my head. Being menopausal doesn't help! Bring on autumn!!!
