Make up

Do you wear make up every day? I do...I know I look better and younger when I wear it and feel so much better. I know so many people who don't wear make up on a daily basis who look stunning when they put make up on to go out. Why wouldn't you want to look the best you can all the time? It doesn't need to take a lot of time...5 mins for basic eye liner..mascara.. blusher and lipstick...I have a friend in her 60s and if we go out she wears lipstick and mascara and looks 20 years younger! I also would wear make up if I'm just at home hanging out with my DP...I want to look my best for him. I find it baffling that people will do their hair and make up to go out with with work colleagues but don't do the same on a daily basis for their partner...

I ALWAYS used to wear a full face of makeup but it was an insecurity thing. I now have two kids and standards dropped 🤣

I’d never leave the house with zero makeup but I do just wear mascara and BB cream most days now

Goodluckanddontfitup · 06/09/2023 15:35

Looking better with make up is really a matter of opinion. I wear it out and about, but my husband always tells me I look great without it, just chilling at home in my comfies. He can see the real stripped back me and that’s what he finds attractive and loves. No right or wrong just do whatever works for you at the end of the day and don’t worry about anyone else

ohmygoshisitabat · 06/09/2023 15:47

Absolutely I love wearing make up just to look good for my partner. He really appreciates it when he comes home from a hard day working in the office to see me, his doting wife, with a full face of makeup, his dinner on the table, the children bathed and tucked up in bed and the house looking spotless.

NeonSoda · 06/09/2023 15:55

I find the idea of trying to look younger utterly bizarre.

Nothing says “let’s pander to the patriarchy” like not wanting to leave the house without attempting to look young and fertile!

GirlsAndPenguins · 06/09/2023 15:55

I think make up is a difficult one. The more I wear it the more I have to wear it as it’s clogging up my skin. If I don’t wear it my skin is pretty good.
I honestly don’t have time to do it everyday, sometimes I’m running around sorting children out while also trying to put a top on! If you’re not use to it it can feel so heavy and hot! I do like to wear it when I go out though. That’s usually on a weekend so DH can look after children while I detangle my hair from a scrunchie and do my makeup!
Also when I go out DH will say how good I look. Surely if I did it everyday I would just feel ordinary and not special when I go out 🤷🏼‍♀️

Shry · 06/09/2023 15:57

If wearing make up makes you feel good and happy then you should absolutely do it!! But dont shame or judge those who don't, not everyone needs to wear it to feel good about themselves.

I wear make up to go out on special occasions but otherwise never. It might make me look "better" according to you but honestly id rather sleep an extra 20 minutes in the mornings.

brokenmummy230992 · 06/09/2023 15:58

I find it really sad that some women feel they need to look good all of the time for their partner. Your partner should love you for who you are not what you look like. If you wear makeup daily for yourself then great, good for you. But sod doing it for a man

I don’t know anyone who wears makeup to look younger, that would be a futile exercise. I like my 70 year old face with makeup and it looks better to me, it definitely doesn’t look younger. It’s my only vanity, I haven’t dyed my grey hair for nearly 30 years.

WhineWhineWhineWINE · 06/09/2023 15:58

I find it baffling that some people dislike their own face so much that they can't bear to leave the house without smearing a layer of crap on it first. But that's just me and my opinion, what other people do is none of my business.

I’m 38 now and regularly get ID’d for alcohol in both bars and shops. Probably because I’ve never worn makeup regularly nor tanned so my skin still looks “young.”

Maybe if we all didn’t wear makeup regularly we wouldn’t need to try and combat prematurely aged skin with makeup…

BIossomtoes · 06/09/2023 16:04

And I find it baffling that some people are so disrespectful of others’ choices that they describe wearing makeup as “smearing your face with crap”. That’s pretty fucking judgemental in my book. In fact all the judgement is coming one way on this thread, shame they can’t produce make up for the personality.

VictoriaVenkman · 06/09/2023 16:04

Every work day definitely and whenever I'm seeing people.

Like I said, just my opinion and what other people do is none of my business. Make up on my face makes it feel dirty, so to me it is a layer of crap. I don't judge anyone else, I just don't understand why it's so popular. You don't need to be rude.

BIossomtoes · 06/09/2023 16:12

You don't need to be rude.

But you do? 🤷‍♀️

extrasushiplease · 06/09/2023 16:12

I do most days, but it personally makes me feel better and it's a lot of fun for me and another creative outlet. Some days I don't have the time or energy and focus on skincare instead. I certainly don't judge any woman for not wearing makeup, however, and I appreciate not being judged in return. Life is hard on us enough already to not pick on something that's so clearly a personal choice/preference.

I didn't think I was being rude, but you clearly do so 🤷‍♀️

Sennelier1 · 06/09/2023 16:16

Wanting to look your best for somebody else then? But why? I think people should love you, me, the way we are? I use a bit of make-up because I like it, for myself. Just some mascara and eyeliner. My DP doesn't mind if I skip a day or whatever. He loves me as I am.

Truckeme · 06/09/2023 16:17

I start work at 4-30 in the morning and have a physically demanding job. Not a chance am I messing about with hair and makeup at that time to have it look rubbish again an hour or so later! I am what I am but have to be honest it’s also quite nice to be seen out by work mates with hair, makeup and a dress on for them not to recognise me lol each to their own, whatever we are all comfortable with!

Characterbuilding · 06/09/2023 16:25

My experience - messy bun, vest top joggers, no make-up. Men are insatiable.
Full make-up and overdoing it - not so much. When I’ve asked men I know why this is, they just say they like it more natural, this includes a natural women’s scent rather than a perfume for almost all men I know. Others have said (for example) they prefer to kiss actual lips, rather than gross thick lip gloss or lipstick that goes all over their face.
If a man didn’t find me attractive just as I am then he’s not my type anyway.

IndysMamaRex · 06/09/2023 16:25

I very rarely wear makeup. I moisturise daily but I hate the feel of makeup etc on my skin. It’s good to let your skin breath.

when the occasion calls for it I wear it but I still always go for a natural look. day to day I’ve better things to do. My husband isn’t a fan if a face full of make up anyway.

TolkiensFallow · 06/09/2023 16:26

I’m just not that into appearances I guess. More into feelings and I feel great either way.

mumofmanybusykids · 06/09/2023 16:30

Really? Why does it matter what you look like when you're at home? Yes I look better with a bit of makeup on and like to look nice when I'm out but when I'm at home of course I don't care what I look like

You shouldn't feel that you feel you have to look your best all the time😢 I always feel a little sad for people who feel the need to wear lots of makeup to places it's much better to go without... At home, Swimming, sunbathing, etc

Kikisweb · 06/09/2023 16:30

I cannot bear the feel of it !! Its slimy and dry and gross on my skin.

Luckyduc · 06/09/2023 16:31

Make up can also make someone look alot older and have the opposite effect as it looks like they are trying too hard to look young.
Some if us like a simple look. All I wear is foundation and mascara but mostly because I have burn scars on my face but I wish I could go foundation free. But with that said...the older I get, I couldn't care less what people think including my husband ....there's more to enjoy in life than worry what I look like.

wisebear · 06/09/2023 16:34

I don’t wear it and personally feel very insecure when I do !! I just don’t like the feel of my skin and not be able to touch or rub etc my face drives me potty- I feel I look ok without and feel confident in my own skin to not wear it.
