Just for fun.

Mine is the woman who posted for advice about what to do about her husband who was talking to their cat really sensually. Not baby talk but like sensuous loving ”ooh your fur is so good my darling pussycat” and it gave her the absolute ick.

Every time I talk to my dog I remember her and chuckle. I wonder how she’s doing 😂

Sorry, thought I was replying to someone. Mexican House Thief here.

Oh there was another one, I think it was titled "That Went Well" about someone looking after a friend's little girl - made me almost cry with laughter.

There's one on a spooky thread where someone was house sitting and the puppy gets out at night and she chases it into the woods. I won't say all of it in case I spoiler it for someone who wants to read it but I've never forgotten it.

I came on the thread to say this one too! I was looking for it in classics the other day to try to show to someone. Would love a link to that one if anyone finds it!

The one where the poster replied to themselves years later regarding a pushchair. First post was asking opinions. Second post she replied having bought the pushchair and then recommending it to herself😂 It was the poster was said “you do know you’re talking to yourself?”

Edited

I saw this one. I can only imagine she has multiple emails and computers...

No way was it for a laugh.

Shirley, Hully, Getorf and Buppy always made a thread worth reading

Very true.

Very true.

Though this makes them sound like Mary, Mungo and Minge.

My favourite ever mumsnet thread is Echo’s pushchair recommendation. It just tickles me.

Suzy Quattro's fat nan.

I swear I'll never buy another leather jacket again!

Need more information on this!

Softzilla and the one where someone had recently moved to a new village and was getting followed and people leaving Christmas decorations and similar near her very isolated house. These were around the time I first joined MN and have stuck with me ever since.

I've just scrolled through all 13 pages of Classics and can't find it. Blooming ads.

I don't think it had a thread of its own - possibly posted on a "tell me your CF tales" type thread.

There was a lady who was being abused by her husband and pretty much forced into daily sex. It was a very hard read.

She came back to update how she had left him and she was sat in the garden listening to the birds sing in her new home and that she was happy. I’ve never been so happy for a complete stranger. I often think of her and hope her her birds are still singing loudly and she remains happy.

thesurreyyouth · 02/09/2023 16:22

Mine was in the lead up to Christmas one year where the OP was worried about her MIL coming to stay & wanted the OP to deal with her medication - including the daily application of her suppositories. OP wanted ideas on how to deal & many of the ingenious replies made me cry laugh.

Throughabushbackwards · 02/09/2023 16:22

Balonz 😂

MyLordWizardKing · 02/09/2023 16:23

There was once a post in Chat (back when they only lasted 90 days) which was about banal things your partner said that drove you crazy. One poster mentioned her OH used to regularly look out at the garden and announce "that grass is growing", to no-one in particular. Made me cry with laughter when up at 2am with a grouchy baby.

toddlepod · 02/09/2023 16:23

I loved the cutted up pear... but one I've never forgotten was so sad and still gets me teared up if I think about it, was the lady who fostered the baby born with heroin (?) addiction. Getting the baby drug free, gaining weight, first smiles, etc... OMG, so tough.

Baby recovered and eventually adopted, the pre-arranged outcome, but still heartbreaking to read the day by day transition from foster parents to adoptive parents.

It was wonderful and so bitter sweet.

If I remember rightly, the op, died of breast cancer a few years later.😓

The OP has posted it earlier in this thread.

HectorSalamanca · 02/09/2023 16:25

Sharon and the wasp
Someone telling her MIL she was the carcass 🤣

grass321 · 02/09/2023 16:25

It was deleted after she had a name change fail....also responsible for Alphabet Street. Neither of which were genuine threads.

No...... I invested weeks in that thread!

I'm still ploughing through the new updates but what was the sad outcome of the horrific puppy in the forest story?

stillavid · 02/09/2023 16:26

Lobster boy thread. I often wonder if the OP of that thread managed to convince her DD to leave her awful DH.

I know she has updated over the years and that the OP's own DH passed away. Was all just really sad.

Also a fat match!
That thread is in classics.
It's called Expectations v reality or similar.

Blossomandbee · 02/09/2023 16:26

Suzy Quattros fat nan stays in my mind too.
The whole thread was hilarious. I thinks it's supposed to be in classics somewhere, it was a thread about what item of clothing you bought that didn't turn out as you imagined.

The Savernake forest one sticks in my mind as well, a good piece of writing even if completely made up.

BanditsOnTheHorizon · 02/09/2023 16:26

Lily007 who found out her dh was cheating and just left, I don't think she ever spoke to him again. She was so classy about the whole thing, whilst being devastated. I hope her dh is a miserable shit with his horrid ow, who I believe he married a few years later.

AngelinaFibres · 02/09/2023 16:26

Not a fun one but the one from Pamela ( aged 40)with a new diagnosis of bile duct cancer. I think it went to 6 threads as we all followed her through the 7 weeks from her shock diagnosis to her death at the end of July. When I'm feeling fed up about something stupid I think of her and her lovely family and give my head a good wobble.
